- I've had "Take Me To Church" by Hozier on repeat lately. Seriously both his EP's are amazing - if you haven't heard his music, you need to check it out. The lyrics of his songs go deeper than most.
Enter my good friend and fellow Nashville musician Matt Wright...with whom I've wanted to record a cover with for FOREVER. Once you hear his voice, you'll get why ;).
We sat around for an evening going through Spotify playlists and playing each other songs that we're currently in to...and this one just seemed to capture us both. Matt also happens to be a fantastic piano player, so we had some fun coming up with an arrangement.
Special thanks to Jourdan Lees at Made In Network for helping us with the filming (notice how that has slightly improved since some of our first videos haha). Also thanks to Kelsey and Seth Granda for letting us use their beautiful white upright piano.

This was so amazing. I don't compare covers to originals, I feel that unfair to both artists. But, both of you were absolutely amazing. Bravo. May I suggest you and Matt cover another song together, it's called Home by Edward Sharppe and the Magnetic Zeros.

I think the gentleman had a better feel for the tone of the song. She 's just singing words.
I think it should be kind of happy, because in a way, it's a love song towards the person of the same gender. It still is kind of sad though too. I just think that the lines directed towards the one you love should be happy.[=

The song isn't a love song, not even if the video shows a love story. ....Which lines in this song are directed towards the ones you love..?

I don't usually comment on photos but I feel that there's loads of hate to this cover but me personally think this cover is so unique and purely beautiful. This can be a difficult song to do right in a duet, but this is well done my friends! The only drawback I hear is the tone of voice the guy often uses, as it is too monotone or high. Hozier, while it is practically impossible to be close to his voice, used much more emotion (best word I could think of) than used by the pianist. Other than that, it was very good!

I've never been able to listen through this video without crying. Especially during the solo. There's just something about that romantic guitar sound combined with the soft piano that hits me so hard that it spontaneously makes tears run down my face 😭❤

I'm just sitting here, browsing youtube on a wednesday night, and then unexpectedly come across this wonderful interpretation of a magnificent song! Love how both music and video maintain this intimate, almost sacred atmosphere throughout, abstaining from the usual posing (both visually and with regard to voice) that one encounters so often in such cover videos.
