Why did they have the Q&A in English anyway? Filipinos can express better in their own language. In international pageants, it's not uncommon for Latin contestants to speak with an interpreter.

what janina did wasn't embarrasing. It was hilarious. This is one of the funniest true to life moments. It really, really makes me laugh. And I am proud of Janina 'cos she still didn't get affected by her mistakes. She is truly a brave and confifent woman.

I will really be proud of Janina if she will go to the Ms. World competition and use our own language in answering the questions. Such a bold statement of how proud she is of being a Filipina.

For all those asking why she won a crown despite of that gaff in answering: It's because she tops the 2 major criteria of the pageant (Long Gown and Swimsuit) that is a big percentage to winning one of the 3 crowns. And that the Question Portion is just a little percentage to the overall criteria. I believe she's not dumb. She just find it hard to answer in English. I applaud her for the effort.

Beauty and brain should always come together. In her case beauty and being sooo natural and confident is more than enough already. its tough to be the center of the crowd but I admire her courage to join the pageant.

I'm amazed by how composed Vivian Tan is when the candidate was trying to recover her answer. I'm sure if that was a Filipino judge asking the question she/he would surely laugh at her face.

Sometimes if nervousness attacked, our confident lost a lot and our mind doesn't work at all. I'm sure she could explain that well if she just listen to what had Paolo told her that she could say it in Tagalog.
She just continued talking in English and that was her big mistakes.
For you Janine, I'm still proud of you coz you had reached that level in joining the binibining pilipinas that most of us couldn't do that. But next time, be careful.

Because pinoys are very keen when it comes to constructing the right grammar. And we were expected by the rest of the world that we are very fluent when it comes to speaking the english language. That's why it's really a big deal for them that someone from the Philippines doesn't know how to speak english very well. Most especially to those people who are representing our country.
That's true! If my memory serves me right, Hilary Clinton was very conscious with her grammar when she visited the Philippines than when she's in the US. When asked why, she said "because Filipinos are very keen with English grammar."
I think people are laughing not at her english, but her answer.
And this is why you should always learn English before going to anywhere like this 😂

I know what you mean...in fact, Im surprised that people still keep on bashing her about this issue which is already long overdue.I guess its human nature...people would always critisize no matter how long it lasts.On the bright side, I saw a video of her on celebrity duets where she starts getting off her feet & have fun again.I think that's a very good thing.For a young girl to move on despite all the humiliation, she is strong to just laugh about it and get over the damn thing for good.
The question was what was her family's role in Binibining Pilipinas? All she was able to say was "my family was important." She knew what she wanted to say, but she couldn't translate it in English. I felt she should've answered the question in Tagalog. Despite the language confusion Janina must be able to answer any question asked by the judges.

Watching in 2016, parang naintindigan ko na kung paano siya nanalo. Hindi siya jinudge ng mga judges about ung sa answer nia instead kung paano nahandle nung last sentence at confident act nia ung nangyayare. Ang hirap kaya pag ikaw ung nasa sitwasyon. Baka natalo sia pag walkout o awkward silence ung nangyare. Serious talk...applause nalang. Delayed lang ung intindi ko. -_-
