- Sadly they are ripping all 50 Freight Elevators out one-by-one. Not that many left. There less than 10 left. These are very cool and a very unique Elevator. Not very safe though.

WHAT!!!!!!
Wow! I didn't even think that elevators that old were still in operation anywhere!
Minecraft elevators be like:
Now I see why it’s dangerous But pretty awesome, really.
Hi, you made a very interesting video .. What would happen if you didn't stop on the top floor? Or what would happen if you continued beyond the ground floor? Thanks for the reply
taking these types of elevators to the top or bottom floor can end very badly sometimes. It can cause the elevator to shut down and would need a mechanic to reset it. Lots of safety devices could be tripped. They're called the Final Limit Switch.
@@PAelevators these elevators have app been modified to disengage the mottor for modern safety code.
Wow I wonder how that made manual elevators back then
death machine if the operator is not careful
they need to keep one of elevator of that set.
That HUGE gap tho!! I see what you mean by dangerous now
It isn't just the gap. It's the gate self-closing, & most importantly, they can run w/ them OPEN!!
Elevating Western PA do the gates also not have interlocks then?
@@Mattyice-zg8om They do, but nothing will happen if they don't close.
@@EWPA14 faulty electrical interlock?
"Historic danger" as Andrew would say.
Thumbnail's of the wrong elevator.
They're not removing all. Also there were 38.
You mean if I come to Pittsburgh like 5 years later, they will likely still be there?
@@gpgbdaf Probably not as I spoke with a member of management in the building and she said these elevators days are numbered.
Does this place have a security desk?
Yes.5
@@EWPA14i sit East to get into
Yo that’s amazing!!
As a freight elevator these are far more easy to use. A regular elevator you would hit the button and have to wait for it to come back down this you just get in and flip the switch. No stupid auto door waiting to close its all immediate.
Was it powered by electricity when it was new
Being such a old elevator and in a warehouse could it possibly be a winding drum elevator.
They indeed are.
@@EWPA14 six floors, overhead drum with a counterweight? Or independent counterweight? None?
@@TheTheo58 There is a counterweight.
@@EWPA14 If this warehouse is the same one where elevator #52 is located from a recent uploaded video, where I commented you replied, I did see the counterweight on the left side of the shaft as Andrew took the cab up.
@@TheTheo58 Yes it's the same place.
Your only way out of the backrooms.
Why oldest comebody ?
Do you go to the east side of PA? I have an elevator tip you would like.
How to reset it when you over the limit?
Something in the machine room.
NO WAY ELEVATOR FROM DOORS
