Like how Dad is letting all you guys be involved in putting it back together. Like ya said you two have done a lot on them ole two cylinders dad can prob put it all back in is sleep lol. Glad to see it going back together bud
I’m glad to see you are fixing that tractor too good of a tractor to part. I have an early model here in Iowa I would fix mine if that happened to me good luck and keep up the good work
$4,000!? Don't say that. I've got a 730 diesel waiting for a complete overhaul. One thought I had for setting the crank in place without marking up the journals. 3M vet wrap would protect them without leaving any adhesive behind. The other thing I like to do is use aviation gasket maker on the gaskets. I put a very thin film on and I think it seals any deformities in the metal plus holds the gasket in place because it gets tacky after a few minutes. Just my $2.00 because two cents won't buy bubble gum anymore. Great video. Can't wait to see the rest of the series.
When working on something like that it isn’t a question of will it run again, only when.😀 I had an old friend who would say, we don’t ask it we tell it.
That tractor is worth spending the money on. The rest of it is in good condition so yes. Beside your Dad has to spend his money on something for fun. His hobby just happens to be a somewhat expensive one. Just look at it as another farm repair...
Come to find out it wasn't to un common for these cranks to bust even back in the day when the tractors were new....I've heard several reasons as to why they break number one reason the most popular reasons is lugging the engine for long periods of time which we never have but that's not to say some one didn't do it years ago and started the problem....this is a little bit newer crank as far actual build date so it probably won't be a issue ever again
Why didn’t you guys put a coat of oil on the bearings while installing them and torquing them down. They’ll be spinning dry till the pump gets oil to them. Maybe you did oil them but I didn’t see it being done.
Everything got white grease...we also will leave the fuel in the stop position and turn the big engine over with the pony engine to produce engine oil pressure before we allow the big engine to start and also before I put the top plates on the crank case I dumped oil down on top the crank trust me it's good and oiled up in there before it even fires lol
Brandon why did you throw your father under the bus by bringing up the price of that crankshaft , if you were married you would know a happy wife could be a happy life . Better luck next time dad !!!!!
Great video, a lot of old timers watching. Can’t wait for the next one. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it thank you!
Thanks for explaining the various things about the little parts and pieces. It makes it more interesting to watch.
Great job great video thanks Brandon and George and dad and Tyler
So happy to see dad’s baby going back together. A full resto will be great.

Very well presented and detailed how to video on that particular process. You will have that thing running like a top when complete.

Glad you were happy with the crank shaft. That had some of the nicest splines, I've seen on a diesel crank
LOL I loved the red hand painter 😂 , well done guys. For a minute there I thought you were putting it in without assembly lube 😬
Glad to see it's going back together!! Send the pumps and injectors to Garry Power. :)
That's exactly where they are going!
gotta love them to put that much in one
Great video Brandon, nice to see how it’s done 👍
'Now Mom don`t be yelling at dad about this' 😂😂

It will all be worth every penny in the end when the old iron is in top tune!

great to see progress on the tractor! keep up the great job.
When you work as hard as you guys do you gotta have some fun with all your money..😂😂
Torque spec. on a John Deere 720 main bearing is [German] which = Goot n Tight.🍻

If you make a serious crop, you've about got to overhaul them old popping Johnnies every winter.
Did you ever find out what caused the old crankshaft to snap in two.
What if the new crank does the same thing.

Any idea what made it brake?good luck.😊
Fifty foot pounds on center maine

I was always told not to touch rod bearings with your bare hands, always use rubber gloves. Just what I was always told maybe it was bull.
I've never been told that on engine bearings I was always told not to touch the sealing surfaces on ring seals for excavator and dozer final drives
Did you end up doing a complete engine rebuild on this tractor? What happened to it?
Brandon why did you throw your father under the bus by bringing up the price of that crankshaft , if you were married you would know a happy wife could be a happy life . Better luck next time dad !!!!!
If you are so concerned about not damaging the crank, turn your knife over, cut up, away from the crank.
Why did you though your father under the bus ? We know that type of things are expensive .
Does it help sticking your tongue out when tightening bolts?lol
Lol yes!!
You not putting assembly lube on those bearings?
White grease on everything
