Here is the English translation of the song (which is sung in Finnish) I will post twice to get all the lyrics in.
Suvetar, fine matron Arise to see the seeds Raise the matron's corn So that we may be spared pain Manutar, matron of the Earth Lift up the shoots from the ground New shoots from the stumps So that we may be spared pain Feed us with honey-hearts Give us honey-drink Delicious honey-grass On a blossoming knoll
@way2000 On my computer it's perfectly in sync. :) LOVE this song!! Listen to it every winter to get me in the Spring mindset when the winter blues start setting in. Thanks for the video!!!

The woman walking through the corn is probably the Norse sun goddess, Sif, wife of Thor because the corn is associated with her. Garmarna uses a lot of metaphors going back to Norse Mythology, one of the reasons they are so awesome!

Well wheat, corn... it's fertility symbols. Of course, what Europeans define as "corn" they call maize and is slightly different than corn. And I meant Hedningarna. That was a typo. However, Hedningarna does cool simular music
If only more people listened to this music...They're missing out on so much. All wrapped up in their metal and rap and techno. Meaningless. All meaningless.
Well, not really, all rock and metal is full of meaning in their songs, rock and metal is rebelion, for example Rise against the machine - Killing in the name (the title sais it all, they are killing in the name of.....) Punk is almost all about Anarchy and autarchy, rock (the original one, not the rock that is made today) is almost all about rebelion and society critic things. Metal is almost all about more darker and anger things but still talking about rebelion and social citics Rap (not allways but almost) is well at the moment it talks about almost everything from lovve (Yarmak - Zaluugin zuhr) feelings (Nach - Vive ientras puedas) even freaky geek stuff (all the "EPICAS BATALLAS DEL RAP DEL FRIKISMOOOO") and obviusly rebelion stuff Also what did you say? Ah, techno, well it can talk also about almost everything from love (Frisco - Sea of love), sex (S3RL - Candy, a real good song tho hahah), idk videogames (all of S3RL music, covers almost everything that electro and techno talks) idk killing people (Bonfire) and obviusly rebellion (Powerman 5000 - How to be a human) there also is electro music for relaxing purposes (El huervo - Daisuke or Maf - Mafland), techno i the genre that talks about more different things and has more theme variety I ever knew Even pop, country, reggaeton, or even manele has a meaning You are completely wrong by saying that x or y music is meaningless, there is not any single song that is meaningless, even 4:33 has a meaning I don't like people that say this music from this point in time is the only real music, the rest sucks blah blah That is bu*lsh*t, completely false I do not enjoy reggaeton at all, but it obviusly has a message (tho that message is complete sh*tball made by monkeys that only know to fight each other and everybody and to rape)
GoddessOfThree I got into folk music with the help of metal. Metal has its own subgenres like folk, pagan and viking metal that borrow folk melodies and techniques into metal music. They are very good in the using of their instruments and their compositions can be really complex. The lyric themes in metal are often political or storytelling, just like a lot of pagan music. Bathrory and Moonsorrow take all their lyrics from pagan mythologies. You should make some research before making statements like this Modern, radio friendly "metal" (nu metal, metalcore etc.) Is childish garbage though, I can give you that.

@GoddessOfThree Well, all we can do is spread the word about this great music, and those who appreciate it and embrace it will follow.
Pure nature!
@TheAsztronauta
I think you mean the kalimba, or finger piano. It's an African instrument - you can pick one up inexpensively at any good drum shop.
Fuckin' A
Didjeridu power !

sounds like finnish but I think Gjallarhorn is Sweddish
They're Finnish, just from a Swedish speaking part.
Aleksi Bennett - exactly.
And they sing some songs - like this - in Finnish.
If only more people listened to this music...They're missing out on so much. All wrapped up in their metal and rap and techno. Meaningless. All meaningless.
I don't like that stuff either but it's obviously not meaningless for those who love it.
