Dialogue with dolphins, recorded at Port Phillip Bay, Australia in March-April 1999
by Carol Scarpaci, Polperro Wild Dolphin Swims
LYRICS:
Vellamo vesistä vartu
Joudu jo meren emonen
Seitsemän selän sisältä
Yheksännen aallon alta
Käymään kanssa vilkkaan valaan
Virran viheltäjää viemään
Sinivatsan lumoama
Veen viisaimman viettelemä
- - -
Emerge from the water, O Vellamo,
Hasten thee, O Sea-Mother
From within seven open waters
From under the ninth wave
To sport with the lively whale
To ride the stream-swimmer
Enchanted by blue-belly
Seduced by wisest in water

"Dolphins are the only animals who voluntarily approach people to play and sport with us and are curious about us. Dolphins have a highly developed system of social behavior and characteristics that we have not evolved, such as telepathic communication and the ability to read our bodies like X-rays with the sonar sounds they send out. This is what it sounds like when dolphins examine us, speak with us and tell us what their names are - they all have their own names. Many thanks to the Muir family and the rest of the crew on the dolphin research vessel Polperro for allowing me to observe the life of the dolphins for several weeks in Australia in March-April 1999." - Jenny Wilhelms
I remember listening to this to fall asleep
As I was looking for Gjallarhorn on spotify, it isn't there! Bastards!
Such a shame! But at least you get to enjoy some of their tunes here :) I'd recommend purchasing the CDs themselves though, via Discogs for example.
Thanks for this heavenly song.I am glad I came upon this jewel.
You're welcome! I am ceaselessly grateful too to a friend of mine who introduced me to Gjallarhorn a long time ago... :)
