    Very nice, thanks for mentioning my video in the description and adding more info on the foams and rubber rings... It would be great if you could measure the impedance curve... and I love those LSR 6332 in the back, I only have 4412 but wonder how better those are!

      Look at the other video in the description and he measures the impedance curve.

      @@TheMazo02 Oh sorry. I don't have the proper equipment to measure. And yes, those are the older LSR32's in the background and I love them. They are much different speaker than the 4412.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video! I have a pair of JBL L7 speakers that use the 35TIA tweeter which I assume is about the same as the one you're using correct? Thanks again and keep up the great work sir! 👍 🔊

      Yes, the 35TIA is the same. Although not exactly sure the differences.

    Guess i need to research a bit on exactly what this foam does. I have lx500's with a buzz from the tweeter at about 50 hz. I think an air leak into the tweeter (and lack of proper damping) may be the problem. Crossover is fine. My speakers have 027ti arc titanium tweeters. The screws which hold the diaphragm to the magnet are definitely T10, not hex. Watching your video and others on the 035 makes me believe they are also torx T10

      The foam acts a damper for unwanted movement and diaphragm control as well as unwanted resonances. The buzz might also be from something in the gap.

    lol! JBL creates this cutting edge tweeter in the late '80s and forgets to tell us that they have
    a CHEAP piece of foam that damps it? What is the point of all that tech if you need to tame the dome with foam? I own some JBLs with this and frankly, I can't hear any difference in the tweeter after over three decades, but, hey my ears have also lost their foam after thirty plus years.
    I suppose I might just buy some actual replacements and see if I can hear the difference. If not, not going to bother. High Freq loss is the first to go. So unless that tweeter is ringing below 10Khz.
    it's probably not that noticeable for older dudes. And if it rings at 12khz or higher, then that would add some sparkle for older ears, lol!

      Lots of drivers have some kind of damping material.

    $30 for 4 pieces of foam is fucking insanity.

    • @stereoazimuth
      @stereoazimuth  10 місяців тому

      But precisely cut. And to do that you need the foam and die cutters. A set of die cutters would cost more than $30. The problem is that JBL nor anyone else makes or stocks this part. If you want to make your own, you are welcome to. Mostly the point of my video is that many people don't understand or don't know there is foam there that likely needs replacing, just like the foam surrounds.

      Make ur own dude. That's what the dude in the other vid did. Or use ferrofluid in the gap
