Gordon's career spanned twenty four years starting at Eastbourne in 1970 and then included spells with Oxford Rebels, and moved with them to form the White City Rebels and then a return to Eastbourne Eagles in 1979

I think this was the semi-final of the KO cup around 1986. I remember watching this from the pits (which for those unfamiliar with Eastbourne, are on bend 2). Each time they went into the back straight, Mel Taylor was behind & when they entered the 3rd turn, he was in front but we had no idea how he got past because they didn't seem to be any room. Fantastic race.
