God the quarters my brother and I sank into this in the 80s. Never could get past Mask X. Years later a friend told me it was Bald Bull. This game was the coolest thing I had ever seen when I was little. :)
"Nintendo released this game to the arcades before punch out came out." Actually this game came out 1 year after Punch-Out!!. I know this from looking at the years of Punch-Out!! and this game. Oh, and "Ba-ba-ba-ba-Bald Bull!"
I remember playing this when I was a kid. Disneyland was the only place that had it and I would spend my whole day playing it instead of going on rides. Lo.
I played this often in college. The timing isn't difficult to get with the first three opponents, you have to watch Frankie's eyes to know where to push the joystick (If they shift, you counterattack and push right, if they don't shift, he spits flame and push left). The second round was always an awful bitch for me though, I could never stop pushing the button for those "powerups". What I thought was most hilarious about this game...exactly where do those starter bullets come from?? LOL.
the only thing this game's lacking is an actual balance board (for things like dodging and grabbing, character-exclusive things like dodging mask x's head butt attack) and an arm wrestling arm so you can actually arm wrestle
That ticks me off is how Mask X's headbutt lingers when you retort back to your neutral position when you just dodged it. That's probably the reason why some people thought of such games like this to be waste of money for their children to spend.

I played the game once. I couldn't get past MaskX. I always had a strange feeling that was Bald Bull. Took 20+ years to find out I was right.
Announcer: Bald Bull, Bald Bull, Baaald Buuuuull!!!!

The dialogue at the beginning sounds like it was taken from "Enter The Dragon".
