Joe, I’ve watched all your videos before finally getting to this one and learning about Armourgeddon and how you got your start in this. You should make a playlist called “Why We Do This” (or whatever) and include this video, and even though WhistlinDiesel has a very different style to you, he has a great video where you are just casually leaning on your forktruck and basically explaining the history of British Armoured vehicles to him- that segment is pure gold and should not be missed by any of your followers. Cheers.

HMS Intrepid had a BARV - I remember being amazed by it sitting down on the vehicle deck. That big bumper is intended for pushing landing craft back off the beach. I guess Fearless had one too. ATTURM at Instow had one for the same purpose.

You are lucky you have 50 years to get your projects finished (with luck). I had great plans until I had an accident in my mid 30s that stopped me in my tracks. Enjoy every day while you can. Mind you, yesterday I stripped a 1929 A model ford for some repairs. Clean fuel tank, radiator etc. Someone restored it cosmetically, real nice looking but the insides of the mechanicals were original. 1/2 inch of sludge in the sump..bearings OK but worn rings. Anyway Mr Hughes keep up the most excellent work, Happy Easter and G'day from Tasmania

It was fascinating to hear how you got into that business, do any of your tanks have their gun stabiliser working? That is what makes modern tanks look so badass, my uncle was in the REME working on the project and said that the breach block thrashes about in the turret when you have it turned on but you you could boil a kettle on it at 30 mph across country.

Brilliant, thanks for taking the trouble.
Because of the various locations growing up, there was often a (Scammell) or chieftain round the corner & of course could hear the sound miles off. Later when we moved to 'France' Dorset, we would come across them at the firing ranges at Lulworth & used to sound record them at Bovington. The odd Centurion would often make a appearance as auxiliary tank.
At Lulworth there were over hundred parked in a field for decommissioning in early 1990s.
Later at Borden (REME) I got to sit in the Chieftains.
It's like something that was just contemporary to growing up & felt strange post cold war era to see them abandoned & derelict.
All of a sudden, as if over night, they were rare beasts.
I like the low profile of the chieftain & screaming engine still strangely nostalgic about.
I remember the build quality on gun laying switches & still have a commanders sight.
Chieftain my personal favourite but would settle for a Scammell recovery.
Enjoy your approach & social conversationalists comradery.
    Haha.
There, the secret is in the wording.

I was stationed at Fort Knox in the late 70's and saw the M1 when it was on trials. I own 6 Henglong RC tanks, and one day had hoped to get to ride in a tank before I leave this mortal coil. You have a second Cody-Chieftain!
Is there anything you can substitute for the starter motor? Or put a modern electric motor in the old casing?
So you've got around the Centurion gun tank, Centurion AVRE x 2, Centurion ARV x 2, Chieftain x 4, German half-track, 6x6 tractors x 2, T-34, Abbot, plus two aircraft and a load of CVRTs. Has the AMX gone?
Why does Centurion AVRE No.2 have 105 rather than the demo mortar?
Sort out your projects list, get 1 or 2 in the shed on priority and absolutely charge ahead at them! Do you have a schedule/timescale for projects?
