My dealer turned me onto Original Bike Spirits cleaner and polish. Probably very similar to what you used toward the end of the vid. Stuff is great! Cleans all parts of the bike.
As a highly trained unprofessional myself, I highly recommend Kano AeroKroil over PB Blaster for penetrating oil. I've used it for years and it works so much better for breaking down crud and corrosion than anything else I've tried. And it smells alot better than PB too. Love the channel, keep up the great work.
I happen to be a law enforcement officer I’ll get you the name of what we use on our Glock firearms so the slide on our firearm is smooth. I’m sure other gun owners have oils that they use. That get some 1000 I’m sure does the trick but not for $10.00 just for shipping I bought everything else on eBay. Keep those videos coming your a good guy!
Dielectric grease is a good addition to put in the box too. Great for keeping electric connections waterproofed so you’re not chasing down electrical issues around the bike.
I like Fluid Film. It's also a food grade aerosol, but a great lubricant, metal protector and penetrant. I also spray a little on every new tool I get. Great product.
Hey John, I recently had my FXSTB in for service at my local shop & I wanted them to remove the baffles in the V&H Big Radius pipes...as expected, one came out real easy, the other one they couldnt get out....I took it home and soaked the inside with Liquid Wrench after watching a “best penetrating oil” comparison test by a You Tuber scientist...needless to say, i used a tire iron lug wrench from a 82 chevy luv pickup (the small lug end fit inside the baffle perfectly. Applied pressure while the pipe was wrapped in a towel and resting in my shop vice. After 10 minutes of hitting the lug wrench with a mini masonry sledge hammer, the baffle was free. Big thumbs up to Liquid Wrench, the winner of the best penetrating oil test! $5.49 a can and a pint of sweat. Keep the vids coming, you rock! J Kiv Yankee from Pa
Rusty exhaust bolts- 50/50 acetone and automatic transmission fluid. Keep it wet, let it sit for awhile. I used this on the exhaust manifold bolts on a 25 yr old motorhome with a 8.3 Cummins, which had the original exhaust manifold. The rusted bolts came out like they were new, didn’t even squeak. How long you wait after application depends of course on how rusty the bolts are, be patient.
John, look into Kroil products out of Tennessee. If you have rusted or frozen parts, you give a spray, wait a minute and they come right apart. Been using it on cars for about 30 years now and it is seriously worth the cost.
I used to work on boats in Florida, and the best penetrant I found came from the local Chevrolet dealership. GM Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor (formerly Penetrant and Heat Valve Lubricant). Give it a try and you won't even consider PB again...
ACF50 here in UK is amazing stuff. Spray anywhere except rotors/brakes. Protects electrical connections and protects engine etc from salt. Just smokes for a few minutes then leaves a protective film. Also, good old paraffin for degreasing. Cheap and effective !
S100 is amazing s###! Gets dirt in nooks and crannies (I don’t actually know what a crannie is) as well as just being an incredible (German engineered, go figure) all purpose dirt, bug, tar bike wash/cleaner. I even use it on my truck floor mats to remove salt. Does a great job! Bonus: I’m lazy and it is super easy to use and washes off with the hose (do not wait - rinse with jet stream quickly)
Two things Airkroil is a excellent penetrant, also best thing for electrical connectors is Corrosion X. Look it up and read about it. My buddy uses it for corporate aircraft connectors
I've used AeroKroil for years. I found out about this stuff working at power generation plants. Turbine mechanics use it by the gallons. The stuff is amazing, and for some reason I like the way it smells.
John you can still find Inox on amazon and ebay. Tri Flow is good stuff. I use CRC Knock'er Loose for crusted on fasteners and Perfect All for detailing work.
The car dealer I work for has been using a brand called Interflon for a couple years now with the normal stuff like PB blaster and 3m stuff. Interflon has a spray can grease that's similar to Lithium and works great. But their Super Fin spray is awesome. On bearings and hinges it lubes them up and gets into the small cracks. They have a foam cleaner that works pretty good too
Thanks! Another awesome video. I've paused your videos many times trying to see chemicals, tools etc. that you use. I've also paused and rewound your videos to enjoy a catchy phrase or comment by you and or one of your coworkers. Thanks again! Looking forward to your next video!!
I also use the TriFlow, buy it at bicycle shops. Another bicycle product that works great as a cable cleaner/lubricant is by FinishLine. Their 1-Step Cleaner & Lubricant is awesome for clutch and throttle cables and comes in an aerosol with a wee bendy straw for making sure it gets in the cable jacket. Thanks for the videos. Keep up the great work!!!
Tri-Flow is awesome! I've been using it for decades on bicycle cables, doorknobs, nuts, bolts and just about anything that moves. It is NOT WD-40 which is a solvent more than a lubricant (great for deicing, removing labels, grease, etc.) and it is THE BEST LUBRICANT I've found for clutch cables, throttle cables. Spray it on your pliers and socket wrenches, ratchet wrenches and any joints where metal touches metal. I even spray it in my key ignition switches in my Harley, F150 and Accord. One can will last for years while using it about a hundred times a year. It never dries but it is clean and does not leave residue. Only use a little bit because it goes a long way. Great videos, by the way! I like your dry sense of humor.
I see some of the guys commenting on bugslide and I would have to agree that stuff works great. I use it on my street glide Fairing/windshield and it gets those big fat juicy Critters off it pretty quick with not much work at all. Clean 👍 thumbs up John!!!
Hey, special thanks for the tips you give you give on items to check. Was having some weird shifting issues on my 03 fat boy and remembered your vid...... found my rear shift linkage loose and got it tightened up BEFORE it damaged my shift shaft!!! No telling how many $$ you saved me. I'm not too far away so at some point I plan to come by and at least buy you a lunch!!!
Hey John, that Inox IS food grade approved. I have on my cereal every morning here in Australia. It keeps everything flowing smoothly. Tastes a bit nutty though ;-) Love your videos by the way, entertaining, well edited and most importantly great tips. Keep it coming mate!
I am happy to have found your channel. I am looking at purchasing another bike for the wife and I to cruise on. Not very familiar with HD so your channel is giving me a wealth of information. THANK YOU!
Yes your right John is a cool name. I have had a can of Mopar heat riser lubricant for 20 years still works. I’ll have to explain what a heat riser is to some of you kids but for loosing bolts I have never found anything better.
Try Novus 1 on windscreen. I wear a full face helmet and use it on the visor there also. They sell it in multiple types of packaging, but the pump spray bottle is easiest to use. I just checked and it's currently $6.40 on Amazon.
Five things I've found that actually work. To loosen rust or heat-bound parts short of an acetylene wrench, a product called 'Releasall rust solvent', made by Releasall-Target corp. It's not a lubricant, so has no lasting lubricating properties, but that's not its focus. Best stuff to break free parts that other penetrating lubes will not budge. Aero-Kroil. A penetrating oil and lube. Has some lubricating properties, better than WD40 and PB, but not as cheap. Unless of course, you use it a bit more sparingly. Tri-Flow makes a great cable lube. They make other lubes as well. Good stuff. Water. I have wet down rusted parts with water, which loosens the rust. Seems counter-intuitive, but it works. If all of these fail, it's time for drastic measures. To keep all this seizing from starting in the first place, but you've got to be careful not to use it in certain applications, like where no oil or lube is required for torque-spec, Bostic brand Never-Seez. I have the nickel based compound that I used for turbo fasteners. They make all kinds of atom-age wonder-paste. Just need to be sure the one you're using doesn't cause some kind of reaction. That whole dissimilar metals bit. Oh, and cheap nail polish makes a handy small-parts threadlock. Cheap and effective. Plus, you can color match. Or not...
I use a lot of Acetone to clean up spills and it works good on dried super-glue too. It evaporates almost instantly too which is a big plus. Love your stuff man.
Love the info John, thanks. You didn't mention any dry film lubes. The wet lubes collect dirt. Especially on a kickstand. I use pb blaster dry film lube on the kickstand. I have a denim black bike. Harley makes a special spray for cleaning denim paint.
You make the coolest Harley videos, both with content and videography. I would love to see a video showing how to care for and revitalize leather saddle bags that are faded and collapsing. I have an '02 FLSTS and the bags need help! Thanks!
Enjoyed the video while I was drinking my dinner, now I have tools at work, at home, in my truck and in another state. I live in Virginia and vacation 4.5 weeks a year in Florida, that's also where my bike is so I have tool boxes to be able to service my bike. My friend built the garage to keep his two Harleys in and I said it looked like he had room for another. So I bought my bike and we have built quite the Harley shop. I supplied the tools and he bought the air compressor and bike lift, my first trip of the year is in a few weeks; My son and I attend 98Rockfest VIP because if your gonna go you might as well go first class. You probably don't know many people that travel 1700 miles round trip to attend a concert, I'm Tracey, and that's how I roll. While this isn't my first bike it is my first Harley, I got some pics on my YT page. We are actually in the same line of work, I just work on big trucks although if I could make the same money I wouldn't mind working on bikes. I have worked on my own and a few others but not at a dealership or bike shop level. They would actually be hard pressed to find room for my tool boxes, again pics on my YT page.
Awesome info!.But PB blaster I think sux..........if you get it on you it's with you all DAY!.....CRC Power Lube! for me, works on anything and don't STINK!!!.Great video as usual !!
Great video. I use plus gas for get bolts off, guy I work that has Dyna put me on to it. It'll get in loose up almost anything that doesn't require heat and it's about £5 in most motor world stores.
I was given a can of stuff and the label said "rainbow" or "Rainbow Lube" and it's like PB BLASTER and WD-40 and it works great . Weird name ,but, as I said it worked great. I work on anything from H-D (Pan,Shovel,EVO) to farm equipment and heavy equipment
Kimball Midwest penetrating oil puts PB blaster to shame, use it at the shop I work at here in Ohio ton of rust and stuck fasteners. Used blaster for years and then found the Kimball Midwest. Not safe for paint or soft plastic tho. Great video like all the tips and tricks !
I use a lot of degreaser as a diesel mechanic. Purple power works great. Spray and let chooch for a split second. Just don't let it sit too long. That shit will take paint right off.
Just to let all of John's subscribers know that when you order a bottle of, "GET SOME 1000" ON AMAZON, the price for a 4oz. bottle is: $13.99 but shipping is a Whopping $10.49 by the way that's shipping in the United States, I can't imagine what it would cost for shipping if I lived on the "MOON", I think I'll buy another bottle of INOX-MX3 and save money! The P-J 1 is $9.82 + shipping of $2.10. John I think your a stand up keep making these video's....
Mouse Milk is better than PB Blaster. We used it (I said used it because I’m not currently working as an aircraft maint. tech) in the aerospace industry. Just some food for thought. Now I’m at MMI. Can’t wait to get out of there. Haha. Also, Kano Kroil is good too. All can be found online to purchase.
Have you tried F-11 all purpose polish and cleaner? Use it on everything including house hold appliances and mirrors, really helps keep things spot free and clean. Great video!
I like a goldenrod oil can with whatever oil I've got laying around the garage for a lot of applications. It just means more wiping. Or not, if you're a greasy bum like me. That inox bottle is pretty sweet though. I use the oil for all the places you tri-flow. Definitely will look into the cleaner though, as I tend to use brake kleen in a refillable pressurizing bottle.
Sea Foam penetrate works just as good as PB Blaster, and doesn't smell as nasty. As far as shining the bike up, I like Harley's Poly Glaze. Definitely puts a shine on stuff! Till next week...
Thanks, John, the reaction to the can hitting the floor made me laugh harder than I have all week. I have to be careful with coffee, most of them give me an acid burn from hell... oddly enough, the McDonald's coffee doesn't do that, so when I have to do a lot of running around paying bills in the morning, I get an iced vanilla. That box set looked good, I'll have to pick one up for my sister. Thanks again for another great video.
Don't know if you ever did it a video about it but, if i want to start basic mechanics on a HD, what tools (specialy sizes and forms), i should begin with? without spending a LOT of money? Doing things as thighten screws...taking parts in and off..etc! thanks man! very helpfull vids!
Just found your channel yesterday and have been watching many episodes - very nicely done John! I like your camera work and your laid back style. Keep theses videos coming. I'm a new subscriber.
Dear John, Great videos, thoroughly enjoy them. I'm an inept shade tree mechanic who shouldn't be allowed around wrenches and ratchets. How do you organize/keep track of the nuts and bolts, bits and pieces removed when servicing a bike?
I'm a Harley tech (MMI Orlando '01-'02). Thanks for the tip on INOX. I've been using metal straws on Triflow cans for cables, etc. Messy. I think the plastic bottle with the metal straw will work better. I ordered from eBay. Better price than Amazon. I'm enjoying your videos. I retired from the Army from Fort Benning before going to MMI. I lived in Columbus for about 12 years (yep, lots of years at Fort Benning). I live in Kennesaw, GA now and work for myself. I have for the past 10 years now - work on Harleys. Later...
I've worked at 3 different Harley dealerships as a tech and, in my opinion, most Harley techs are arrogant dicks. Refreshing to see a tech that appears to be a nice guy and willing to share info. Rare. Best of luck to you in your career.
After seeing the interview with owner of BCC on Fox News regarding how Starbucks' employee wrote PIG on a cop's cup, he contacted the cop's department and promised them free BCC coffee for life. That was good enough for me. I subscribe to their coffee now and it is great, plus part of the proceeds go to good causes. I even have a super cool black, BLACKRIFLE COFFEE MUG.
We use a product called “Free” in our shop for a penetrating lubricant. It’s only sold from the company Certified Laboratories but it is awesome, never used anything better.
Being an AMSOIL dealer I use all of their products including spray lube...buuuuuuut PB Blaster is my go to when I need to get a stuck bolt or exhaust loose.
In addition to PB Blaster (which is good stuff, no worries), try KROIL as a penetrating lubricant. An aviation mechanic turn me on to it. It's incredibly effective at breaking free rusted, corroded fitting.
CRC product called power lube it works better than PB Blaster. I been wrenching in Ohio for several years we have salt and plenty of rust. There is another company that has great products it's name is BG they mainly sell to dealerships and independent repair places but the CRC product can be found in part stores. You should try it . I don't buy PB Blaster anymore. I hate to sound like a commercial. But power lube outperforms in many ways.
ATF and acetone mixture for me in a little squirt bottle with a needle tip is the best I've found for loosening rusty bolts. Great penetrating oil as ATF is somewhat a lubricant and is full of detergents, and it doesn't make a mess like all the aerosols. Some 30wt oil or white lithium grease for all other general lubrication needs has been working great for me for the past 5-6 years since I've started working on my own stuff exclusively.
haha thank you, thank you. It'll work great on the denim black! And with the powder coating, I would recommend using a scotch-brite pad to help the DOT 4. Powder coating is different from regular paint you know!
Hey John could you do a video on the 2006 ultra Cam chain tensioner replacement? Can I do it with out replacing the pushrods, and taking off the rocker box
for refferenc3 tri flow is available in a spray bottle which I lik3 better than the aerosol can cause I've had the nozzles break on the cans it's to expensive for that...and Kimball Midwest makes a product called Torq cb that makes pb blast look like water
"Highly trained, unprofessional" cracks me up every damn time!
My dealer turned me onto Original Bike Spirits cleaner and polish. Probably very similar to what you used toward the end of the vid. Stuff is great! Cleans all parts of the bike.
I always use this. Amazing stuff for a quick polish in the morning or getting the bugs off. Works on matte finishes too.
Werd on the PJ1, PB Blaster, and Harley Davidson Spray Cleaner and Polish. All are GOLD!!!
I use inox on my guns actually.
i always put a bit of copper anti seize when putting pipes back on, helps if you need to remove them again later down the road.
I use 3and1 oil in a bottle with a 3 inch needl for levers, jiffy stands, cables and everything that just needs a bit of lube.
Do one for tools! I know I have a few specific moto tools I can't live without.
This is one of the best Harley channels on UA-cam!!! I have learned a ton and it's entertaining so I watch all the time. Thx!!
Thanks man! I appreciate that!
Dielectric grease is a good addition to put in the box too. Great for keeping electric connections waterproofed so you’re not chasing down electrical issues around the bike.
absolutely. There will be more tool videos, good suggestion!
Nothing beats Never dull on some good ol chrome
I also use Break Free CLP for loosening, lubricating and cleaning weapons too! Thanks ( not an advert)
I like Fluid Film. It's also a food grade aerosol, but a great lubricant, metal protector and penetrant. I also spray a little on every new tool I get. Great product.
Hey John,
I recently had my FXSTB in for service at my local shop & I wanted them to remove the baffles in the V&H Big Radius pipes...as expected, one came out real easy, the other one they couldnt get out....I took it home and soaked the inside with Liquid Wrench after watching a “best penetrating oil” comparison test by a You Tuber scientist...needless to say, i used a tire iron lug wrench from a 82 chevy luv pickup (the small lug end fit inside the baffle perfectly.

Some good stuff I used in the past was Chrysler heater control valve solvent. Made short work of stuck fasteners
ACF50 here in UK is amazing stuff. Spray anywhere except rotors/brakes. Protects electrical connections and protects engine etc from salt. Just smokes for a few minutes then leaves a protective film. Also, good old paraffin for degreasing. Cheap and effective !
I like chain life penetrating grease, its an aerosol foaming penetrating grease. Not for every situation, but it is a great thing to have around
I use a cream called Autosol to polish up aluminum. Takes a some rubbing but makes aluminum look like chrome. Great stuff.
For a great cleaner, that is safe on plastic, paint, etc is Maximus Contact Cleaner w/citrus smell. Low cost too. That's what we use in our shop.

Gotta try Kano Kroil oil for lubricating and breaking stuff loose. Great stuff.
It is great but harder to find than pb blaster but I save it for the hardest stuff
Kroil is the best in my opinion.
100% agree, I've rarely found anything that a little heat and Kroil couldn't break apart.
Nothing rules harder than Kroil
Order direct!! Bar none THE BEST!!

I see some of the guys commenting on bugslide and I would have to agree that stuff works great. I use it on my street glide Fairing/windshield and it gets those big fat juicy Critters off it pretty quick with not much work at all. Clean 👍 thumbs up John!!!

I use Bugslide to clean EVERYTHING. Puts a great shine without leaving I filmy residue. I recommend it and have gotten several friends to convert.
Harley tech here. I love harley lub. You know the little bottle with the needle tip. Awesome stuff. Great video !
I forget about that stuff, haha. It is good, though. Thanks for watching!
Hey John, that Inox IS food grade approved. I have on my cereal every morning here in Australia. It keeps everything flowing smoothly. Tastes a bit nutty though ;-)
Love your videos by the way, entertaining, well edited and most importantly great tips. Keep it coming mate!
Solid breakfast. Solid comment. Thanks man!
Joking about eating Inox BTW, just in case someone is stupid enough to take my comment literally. Please do not eat this stuff.

I find one of the most overlooked and under used products along the same lines is anti-seize. I use it all the time and always have it on hand.
Love the info John, thanks. You didn't mention any dry film lubes. The wet lubes collect dirt. Especially on a kickstand. I use pb blaster dry film lube on the kickstand. I have a denim black bike. Harley makes a special spray for cleaning denim paint.

I use the spray Seafoam on the T-Body and Intake. Its not as runny as regular Carb Cleaner. Leave it soak, Did a Good job on the 750.
Thanks for the info. I am looking for a video on changing brake fluid to avoid the problems you have mentioned in earlier videos.
Enjoyed the video while I was drinking my dinner, now I have tools at work, at home, in my truck and in another state. John I think your a stand up keep making these video's....
Shipping is 10.49! Holy crap. When I posted the link it wasn’t that much!
Kano arachrol works great for breaking bolt loose clearing rust
You should add "original bike spirits" to your list. Leaves a good waxy coating that makes cleanup easy and safe the next time.
Your subscriber counter keeps going up.Awesome. You put out great content. Thanks for doing what you do.
I usually use c quarts ceramic seal. Then top it with a better form of beadmaker. My bikes always shinin no matter how dirty it gets
This a great channel. Even the wife finds you funny. Keep up the good work!
Hey John! My favorite alternative to PB Blaster is Aero Kroil! Stuffs amazing. Works great, smells good.
I’ve used both, I can’t tell the difference performance wise, but the kroil does smell nice
That's good to know because PB Blaster works great but it stinks!
Smells good? So your a huffer lmao just messing with ya lol
Try liquid wrench yea I know it’s cheap but came in first in a test at farm project kroil came in last

Good job on the video John! Keep em coming..
I always get happy when I see the notification for a new vid John. Never a dull moment.
Two, count em, 2 dirty thumbs up.
Thanks man!
"BUG SLIDE" I use that s**t on everythang !!! love what your doin Brother !
from "LAW ABIDING BIKER"Store
Love your channel, will be starting my own for channel soon I hope to be half as good as you.
Man you are the best🤟🏽 all the best from Europe 😎can’t wait for next video 💪🏼
Just found your channel yesterday and have been watching many episodes - very nicely done John! I like your camera work and your laid back style. Keep theses videos coming. I'm a new subscriber.
Dear John,
Great videos, thoroughly enjoy them.
I'm an inept shade tree mechanic who shouldn't be allowed around wrenches and ratchets.
How do you organize/keep track of the nuts and bolts, bits and pieces removed when servicing a bike?
Before I started learning where they all go, a muffin pan. Keep everything that goes together in the same part of the pan.
You as well!
Take a look at BLACKRIFLE COFFEE COMPANY made and Sold by Vet's...Get the Beyond Black lol
Bugslide on the old eglide we have been using it for year....chrome paint glass works for me.....
Bel Ray makes a silicone detailer very similar to that Harley stuff, used it a lot with great success
Drew w you are correct except ATF is not a high detergent oil. It's a common misconception.
I prefer the atf/acetone mixture also.
Diesel is better than the acetone,,, doesn't evaporate as quick soaks in better,,,
Lemon pledge works great on chrome and Harley Davidson syn3 works great for gun oil.
Gibbs and Kroil are the best for stuck bolts etc...
For cleaning windshield, I use Plexus.
I don’t drink coffee but bourbon that’s another thing. What’s your favorite, John? Mines Makers Mark 46. 👍
I prefer Kroil over PB blaster, seems to penetrate a little better but its also more difficult to get haha
I usually like using DOT 4 to clean paint with. It cleans it so well.
Antonio in the comments!!! With such wisdom, too. Ladies and Gentleman, I present you with Ford’s new paint and body man!
Im gonna try this tonight on my bike to see if it helps take the bugs off!
Suddenly I realize that this needs to be listed as sarcasm. Soooo much sarcasm
Just a bit...
haha thank you, thank you. It'll work great on the denim black! And with the powder coating, I would recommend using a scotch-brite pad to help the DOT 4. Powder coating is different from regular paint you know!
Congrats on 25K subscribers.
Thanks man!
I've always drank Folgers myself
And think it's great until recently
We were in Oregon and tried Dutch bro.s coffee oh man that's good coffee
kroil works great too
William White
Kroil is a great penetrate. Has a distinct smell also.
Purple Slice is my go to for detailing my Ultra Limited. 32 ounce spray bottle on Amazon is approximately $28.
Hey John could you do a video on the 2006 ultra Cam chain tensioner replacement? Can I do it with out replacing the pushrods, and taking off the rocker box
John...you crack me the hell up. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your bike knowledge. 💥👍🇺🇸
for refferenc3 tri flow is available in a spray bottle which I lik3 better than the aerosol can cause I've had the nozzles break on the cans it's to expensive for that...and Kimball Midwest makes a product called Torq cb that makes pb blast look like water
