Only 33. First show was NYE '93 and I saw every single one I could possibly get to for 11 years. Feel lucky to have lived in the right places and been born at the right time!
this is when they solidified the 1st generation heads....what a way to meet the boys...fuck I would have been 12 then...my first show was at 13 in Stanhope, NJ ...God time flies but the boys are timeless!!!!!
it might be silverchair, but this venue (THE BLUE NOTE) in Columbia, Mo is one of the best small intimate clubs for jam bands. it simply can't be beat this is classic phucking phish in a heady ass venue.
The YEM at Boston, where Trey normally flubs lately, he played it perfectly. I was surprised (very pleasantly) becasue I've almost gotten to the point where I didn't want to hea that song cause it was painful. However he nailed it in Boston...I think he just needs to be sober for a while and remember!
gotta say, this must have been the place?!! they sound like they just reached perfection....tight tight tight...!!!love it!!!!! trey just waiting to fly the fuck away...page just perculatin....Wow they had no idea how fucking huge they would bloWWWWW the hell UUUP!!...ventura to the gorge to dallas, west palm beach, uhhh bonner springs kansas...star lake? camden, hershet, pnc, madison square, madison wisconsin(alpine valley), deer valley...and teluride, and uhh the spectrum
show me a better Weakapaug..ive listened to hundreds, many go deeper and more unique but this one is quintessential .. beyond epic rise and fall.. SUPER tight and complete :) @ around three 3:30 on trey sounds like he's riding on the tip of a lightsaber
They rehearsed more up to '97. And in the '91 and '92 days, Trey really led the way and was Mister Cool Licks. And I mean that as a compliment because he's never one to just play licks, put his head down, and listen to himself. He's a spiritual player, unlike Zappa, who I love.
I really don't care about flubs. Its all about the JAM for me. If I wanted to see a band nail the same notes every night I wouldn't see Phish. In my opinion, many songs are just launch pads to jump into some great improv jamming. Give me 4 song sets with tons of type II jamming and I'm there!
Queen City I definitely am in many ways but how am I wrong. I’ve paid a lot of money since 92 to see them all over and Trey was sloppy a lot. Not cool. I’ve seen Warren Haynes 100+ times and while he doesn’t drink or do hard drugs, and he isn’t nearly the guitarist Trey is, he has never been unprofessional for one minute I’ve ever seen him.
@Queen City but does it really matter? I just saw my 40th show at the forum a few weeks ago. And it was the best phish shows I've ever seen. I literally couldn't think of a single thing that wasn't the sound I was hearing, noting else existed. Ghost made me breath different.
Sorry. Didn't get to that many shows by giving the tickets away. Keep your eyes on Craig's List and places like that. Some face value tickets pop up every once in a while.
HA! Look at these cheap ass lights!! We've come a long way baby... CK5 has been the light guy all along hasn't he? This light rig is like giving a crayon to DaVinci... Also...a ripping Groove :)
I don't think Kuroda has always done lights. I believe he took over somewhere post 95. AS I heard it he had to sit in on lights one night and they asked him to keep doing them. I think He has and they learned that he has synesthesia which lends to his impressive looking and FEELING lights.
Nah I disagree. From 91-94 they played with a chip on their shoulders......mainly Trey. He had something to prove. Fck the lights back then....I didn't even pay attention to the lights back then until it started to become part of their machine around Waterloo Village 93'.
I do like Phish...up until the 1st hiatus. Everything after that sucked. I was responding to someone who doesn't realize that and wont let someone indulge in a comment on youtube without defending Phish. Way to go. And for the record..."Your" doesn't mean "you are"...
Good for those who enjoy it now. It clearly isn't what it once was, but have fun. Anyone calling '97 their best year didn't see them in '91, '92 or '93. The best Phish? Marley under the keys, the Minkins, Mrs. Pizza Shit, Zero Man, Roll Like a Cantaloupe, slow NICU, My Friend when it was called Knife, the van giveaway, fall '91 Landlady>Destiny, 300 other people in the place, glasses tinkling. And best of all? $10 tickets.
firstly, any of you putting down one another are quite silly - aren't we all phish fans here?! get real. also, appreciation of music is always subjective. don't judge. personally, i went to uvm from 89-92 and have listened to little since 95...don't fee it compares. But to each is own - good for you if you feel the vibe. the band rocks. and for the dude who ragged on John Mayer - you have no appreciation of guitarists - certainly ones from this generation.
I never said i was better than "what the phish from vermont" do. You asked me what i'm doing. I hate most jam band music so your notion about widespread panic being a favorite of mine as well as my need for a heady jam is way off pal. I wish phish played to the quality of this video that we seem to be commenting on. I heard they sucked at Bonnaroo this year. They just dont have it anymore. Should have hung it up. Maybe Trey needs more money...
i loved the hose. it was the era of phish i first saw and ignited my little fuse. sometimes i whip out my own hose when playing in tribute to the early/mid 90's.
i dont think it has anything to do with intelligence...since its an opinion. How old are you, seriously? Phish has no purpose anymore...its all about the nostalgia which for you is new stuff since you're a little pissant. Enjoy your Phish but i'm telling you it was was better. 97 was the year gents.
I'm probably responsible for 14,000 of these views.
These early 90’s shows were something else. Back when they played smaller venues where the music could truly envelope you.
4:40 homegirls on point with the drop.
lmao
This was the night before my first Phish show. I love how raw it all seems.
GODDAMN that's good. Every note and beat is perfect. Trey's logic is refreshingly raw and unclouded by pills (or arthritis). Rocket takes off at 1:40.
Still groovin'. Still movin'.
The boiz on top, top form here. Ridiculously tight!
I miss the simplicity of the lights back then. The music stood front and center.
omg yes
Ohhh yeah, This was the time Trey played half Weekapaug using only harmonics. What an Animal.
Only 33. First show was NYE '93 and I saw every single one I could possibly get to for 11 years. Feel lucky to have lived in the right places and been born at the right time!
i love '92 Phish, and this is awesome
When your hands are warm and you get your drug cocktail just right.... The gods of guitar sit on your shoulders
Machine Gun Trey is the best Trey
Man, I use to smoke pot and get lost into phish songs when I was a teenager. Good times
Perhaps the sickest show of the season was 3-20-92 in Binghampton. It was fire all the way!! The set list includes both Insanity and Brother!!!!!!
Hands down the best year for Weekapaugs. Pretty much every version from the next 3 weeks is in the goove, too.
amen
this is when they solidified the 1st generation heads....what a way to meet the boys...fuck I would have been 12 then...my first show was at 13 in Stanhope, NJ ...God time flies but the boys are timeless!!!!!
fuck man, i was 4 months old. wish i had been around during these days
Haha and I forgot about "jacked" Trey. Homeboy put in some push-ups pre-show
can't show as much love for this song or the guys that are Phish. LOVE You
Phish is often tight, but this is refreshing Phish tightness......
Sleeveless Trey means business. Busts out the guns for machine gun shredding.
The fluidity and strength of every note is just unparalleled. It cannot be compared to almost anything.
At least nothing good.
they're doing just fine. thanks for playing.
one of the best jams ever
it might be silverchair, but this venue (THE BLUE NOTE) in Columbia, Mo is one of the best small intimate clubs for jam bands. it simply can't be beat this is classic phucking phish in a heady ass venue.
Thanks for uploading, great jam
The walkdown Tret does at 4:58 is so nasty
the complexity of that walk is unreal! to be able to just stash that at the end of a ripping jam is astounding
This is AMAZINGLY GOOD :D Thank you, PHISH!
Hampton will be shows number 151-153 for me! I am not sure if I can make it that long! Love live Weekapaug!
Daaaamn... love it.. Trey's feelin it
one of my absolute faves!
Trey was a mad man!!!!!!!
Mike is the shiznit that's all I have to say. Best jam song ever
gotta say, this must have been the place?!! they sound like they just reached perfection....tight tight tight...!!!love it!!!!! trey just waiting to fly the fuck away...page just perculatin....Wow they had no idea how fucking huge they would bloWWWWW the hell UUUP!!...ventura to the gorge to dallas, west palm beach, uhhh bonner springs kansas...star lake? camden, hershet, pnc, madison square, madison wisconsin(alpine valley), deer valley...and teluride, and uhh the spectrum

@ around three 3:30 on trey sounds like he's riding on the tip of a lightsaber
i loved weekapaug this past NYE run on 12/30, but i definitely agree, the best Weekapaugs were when Trey was still shredding in the 90s
Holy shit
They rehearsed more up to '97. And in the '91 and '92 days, Trey really led the way and was Mister Cool Licks. And I mean that as a compliment because he's never one to just play licks, put his head down, and listen to himself. He's a spiritual player, unlike Zappa, who I love.
jesus trey. you were a fucking god
Where’d your sleeves go, Trey?
This is actually N02 ---> Weekapaugh. They start with the segue from Mike's Song.
nah its Iam Hydrogen -> Weekapaug
Welcome to the rip-snortin' Phish of the glory days. Check out TA from 4:00 on, and picture yourself in the front going berzerk!
soyounoat I’m doing just that and it’s awesome!
I really don't care about flubs. Its all about the JAM for me. If I wanted to see a band nail the same notes every night I wouldn't see Phish. In my opinion, many songs are just launch pads to jump into some great improv jamming. Give me 4 song sets with tons of type II jamming and I'm there!
wow!~
i third the motion!
Silverchair is clutch!

Fire
No dislikes as of 2-1-11, 25k hits
straight. fukken. HOSE.
The results of Chuck Norris, and Eric Captions conception.
Can I have your tickets Bostonbrass? I never even got to see them...
Sorry but this was and always will be Trey's band. He owns this. Maybe not so much nowadays but 90-03 Trey stole shows with his playing ability.
Coop C but there were years trey’s drug problem stole good shows from me. He was really sloppy and awful at times. I love him tho
Fish is 100% the most talented of the 4. Ask Trey.
@Queen City but does it really matter? I just saw my 40th show at the forum a few weeks ago. And it was the best phish shows I've ever seen. I literally couldn't think of a single thing that wasn't the sound I was hearing, noting else existed. Ghost made me breath different.
Never rub another man's rhubarb, and never underestimate Fish.
holeee shiit this is nasty!
Back when phish was good. Time to hang it up gentlemen. Look for Trey to flub all notes this tour!
Lol
Definitive Trey at his peak right there.
trey hasn't even begun to peak. when he does, well know
he's close today than he was yesterday. i've been doing this since '94 and he's only getting better.
His peak was 93 but the band peaked in 97. Mike and Page hit peak in 3.0
are there more visual recordings of phish opperating on this frequency?
see Clifford Ball night 2 set 2 for quintessential Phish perfection.
Sorry. Didn't get to that many shows by giving the tickets away. Keep your eyes on Craig's List and places like that. Some face value tickets pop up every once in a while.
Certified slapper. BAND IS TOO TIGHT
when did Aaaarnold learn how to play guitar?
Choppaaaa Treeyyyyy
@jojojigaboo What the hell are you talking about?
Shy troy shreds!
Facemelt
Most likely because the transition b/t the two are essentially always the same
nellie kane teases?
"grabbing my shoe mouth" lol jk

He started in March of 1989. Before that, the lighting director was Tim "Timber Hole" Rogers.
Nah I disagree. From 91-94 they played with a chip on their shoulders......mainly Trey. He had something to prove. Fck the lights back then....I didn't even pay attention to the lights back then until it started to become part of their machine around Waterloo Village 93'.

Ok. Say, where'd you get your screen name? From a song written, what, 35 - 40 years ago? Good call! ;)

Too many notes!
Bryan Lennert lol we can thank Mike for Trey putting away the hose :/
i loved the hose. it was the era of phish i first saw and ignited my little fuse. sometimes i whip out my own hose when playing in tribute to the early/mid 90's.
Disgusting
just straight raunchy
When Trey could still play
Don Shelden as i am typing this trey is getting ready to kill it on another night of playing with the dead
+Don Shelden Stupidest comment I've ever heard!
