Who is the bad Valentine? Every good story is about development of the characters, preferably with a twist or realization on the way. While in the beginning it sounds like Angelina as the protagonist is cold and bad, we find out as we listen that it is not the case. She wants passion, fire and honesty. He is insincere, dispassionate and somewhat self absorbed - sees/hears only what he wants to see and hear, therefore will never really know her. If all passion is lost on his world, who is the bad Valentine? Angelina is an outstanding story teller. Don't expect to get the whole story from the first verse. This is pure Billie Holiday style jazz. Billie was the most improvisational jazz singer of all time and Angelina has mastered all the unique, inventive elements Billie brought to musicality, some of which you hear in this performance.
The instrumentation was just beautiful, and I really love those strings. There are so many supers to this pre-release, a jazzy song and production that was meant for Angelina. Her voice, as usual, just amazing, finally letting 'er rip. Her belting here was otherworldly! Bodes well for the year, for her fans, for anyone who loves good music. This one will surely make the charts.

understand your love for Amy. It's just that I have seen MANY live performances of Amy where she is singing off key, or flat, usually drunk or wasted. understand your love for Amy. It's just that I have seen MANY live performances of Amy where she is singing off key, or flat, usually drunk or wasted. You will NEVER find any such recording of Angelina. Amy KNEW drugs and alcohol were bad/destructive. What? Had she never heard of Janis Joplin? Jimi Hendrix? Jim Morrison? Whitney Houston? ALL of these people destroyed their lives and careers with substance abuse. And don't give me sob stories about "demons" or such. There are SOOOO many (bad) examples gone before to know to STAY AWAY from drugs and booze. She was self-destructive and foolish. But I'm sure lecherous people took advantage.
