I recently learned that one of the kids in this movie became a Power Ranger later. Imagine having this in your résumé.

The rock hitting his head looks totally real. His “oomph” and clutching his head looks convincing beyond which he might be capable of acting. I bet she was supposed to throw it just past his head but he got hit instead.

It's amazing that the movie where Neil kills the most people is the one that has the least happen

It's interesting how you guys mention that this is the way that Neil thinks in real life and that Pass Thru is the clearest view into his mind. I tend to agree with that. His movies have given me the impression that Neil is anti-government, anti-corporate, and anti-media. He's sending out a message that anybody who is in a position of power or has a platform is inherently corrupt. That we are all being lied to, cheated, etc. And he wishes that he could do something about it. Neil probably believes that if he had the power to do so, he would make the world a much better place. It seems pretty clear to me that we are watching his own personal fantasies (as well as vanity projects) that he wrote down and made movies out of. The characters he plays are essentially himself, but with incredible abilities and lives that he doesn't have in reality. They are what he sees himself as and wishes he could be. It's kinda scary to think that this what Neil would likely do if he actually possessed God-like powers.

I completely agree. It's very obvious that his ultimate fantasy is to have superpowers so he can take out evil and be the hero and savior of the world. That's why his movies are all pretty much the same. Second fantasy is to have young women swoon over him. lol

It's safe to say that Neil doesn't quite have the grasp of allegory that the best of Star Trek writers used to have. I suspect his goal was to make his message timeless.. but that.. isn't something he's grasped quite yet..

To suck @ filmmaking's not unusual, wht gets me is how a man his age manages to navigate life w/ a 7y/o's understanding of the way the world works & an alien's understanding of human behavior.

I love Neil's work unironically, but if you want really bad, you should see his newest one "Cade The Tortured Crossing". Its on UA-cam (for now) and its UNBEARABLE.

Other than completely green screened, it's no worse than the other stinkers. It may be even funnier.

Since this was filmed around 2016 I wonder if Neil was attempting (and failing) to grasp the essence of Trump's populism.
