All was completed inside them and all that was needed was hooking up utilities to them. They are still in great shape. He put them in back in 1987.

      Our first house, a small 36' x 24' was a prefab too, in two modules in 1979. We sold it for a bigger cottage, built on site.
      We should have kept the first one. Its buid quality was WAY better, better in insulation and air tightness, better quality of materials etc.

      What are the benefits of modular homes? That crane looks expensive to rent...

    • @Blazer02LS
      @Blazer02LS 3 роки тому +7

      @@weswest8666 In theory you get a better house faster. They build them inside a factory so weather isn't a big issue like it is with a stick built. Plus the cost is usually less because of the scale that the modular folks buy materials. Figure on a conventional house the builder buys a couple hundred 2X6 studs while the modular places buy them in the tens of thousands. In the plant I worked in we could start on a large triple wide on a monday and have it final inspected and ready for shipping by friday afternoon. I know the local modular shop here can put together a house like in the video in under a week. That is because many of the parts are being built all at once, instead of a framing crew of 4-5 there are 10, and at the same time they are doing the framing other crews are building the interior walls, the roof, all of the plumbing is installed. If it's a multistory home they could also be building the other floors at the same time. Most of the companies either have their own cranes or have erection crews that work with the local rental outfits with the cost of the crane included in the price of the home.

That darn thing flew out from under and went nearly 75 feet before digging in and stopping. That was a four inch, by one inch, by twenty inch piece of steel guillotine flying out there. Scared the snot out of me!! YOU were wise to run the way you did. I really liked the drone footage too. That mower needs 2 things:
    1. A taller bull bar to push trees with
    2. A cage to protect the exposed hoses on top.

    Seeing the house being 'set' was as cool as watching the rafters going in on that garage build. Both were killer follow-ups. Can never beat fall woodlands drone footage either. Be cool to see the area around that waterfall & some shots over the Hudson too. Thanks for sharing.

    At one point I wondered if Andrew would look at the little boulders and decide to lift them onto the mower deck and drop them further into the brush so he wouldn't hit them with the snow plow. Thanks Andrew, I really enjoy watching how you work.
