This was the shoe I raced Chicago in. Slashed 5 minutes off my PB and ran my first sub-2-fifty. They felt great the whole way and for the 26.2k marathon simulator I used them for five weeks before. I remember how excited I was whenever I ran in the VF4% for the first time. Since then, the other super shoes haven’t given me that novel wow factor…until the Endorphin Elite. For me, it was a wow among wow-shoes.
Was a pleasure to meet you at the CIM shakeout run. Got these in too late so didn't get to wear them on race day. Hope to meet you again in a future race...Chicago, CIM in 2024? Love your content by the way.
Definitely a nice race shoe! Feels a tad firmer than what most other top end shoes do, like vaporfly, rocket X2, wave rebellion pro, SC elite v2. Super responsive though! Gonna come down to preference, as always. And super expensive! But the upper is just perfection..
@@kofuzi as compared to what, the elite? Or race shoes in general? Most reviews I read/watched rated it as a pretty soft shoe. But I guess it's very subjective. Will probably depend on the plate as well, the placement of said plate, your running style, etc. I tested it directly against the saucony elite, the rebellion pro and the SC elite v3, and in terms of softness, I'd say it was on par with the rebellion, the saucony being the firmest, and the SC elite v3 being the softest. Many other factors to consider when buying a race shoe, obviously.
Commenting mostly for the algorithm since I'll probably never own a pair myself with that price tag. It's amazing to me that you have such glowing things to say about a shoe that actually _hurt_ you. You're a far more forgiving man than I.
This is the best review you’ve done that I have seen. I’ve seen a lot. You put a lot of quality thought into this one. Thx! Elite price is ridiculous still! I have Puma & Adidas back on my list. I’m a forefoot striker. 6’2” ~168 lbs. Run in New Balance SC Trainer 2 & Endorphin Speed 3. Race in Nike Vaporfly 2. Love all 3 shoes. Faster as I get older.
I found them on a local shop for half the price and got me a pair. I ended up shedding 3 minutes of my half marathon pb. Really good and comfortable shoe.
@kofuzi when I first saw them, I was like, no way. I kept looking at them and finally grabbed them and ask, how much for these?" They said 50% off. So I got them for $137.
Glad to hear that the issue you noticed on the balls of your feet has gone away. I wore these for my first marathon and noticed that my foot started hurting exactly where you were pointing to on the shoe in the last quarter of the race.
I JUST picked up the GR3 now that it is starting to be discounted. I definitely needed a run to get used to the rocker (it really strained the toes on my first run), but I immediately thought it seemed like the perfect acclimation trainer for the Endorphin Elite. It's also the Asics that reminds me most of my Sauconys, which is a very good thing! I heard rumblings there will be a new Glideride after all, but if not, I'd definitely consider snagging a 2nd pair of the 3s.
Hey kofuzi! Any thoughts on Elite vs Pro 3? I've used both during training runs and feel like the Pro is a bit more stable whereas the Pro is a bit more wobbly. I haven't felt a huge difference in terms of RPE or heart rate during training runs in both. I'm a 3:04 marathoner hoping to get down to sub-3 ay Sugarloaf this weekend!
I think there’s a typo in there but ultimately, if you have them both, the shoe that is best for you is the one you feel best in. Your experience trumps my expertise
I tried this on and it felt very aggressive to me-probably too much from my marathon pace. I’ve had such good luck with the Endorphin Pro3 I’m poised to pick up as many as two more pairs when discounted once v4 comes out, especially after early reports that it’s changed significantly.
For those of us who enjoy doing longer speed sessions in the Endorphin Speed 3, is the Pro a better racing option than the elite? (I use the ES3 for longer threshold/race pace efforts, and the NB Rebel 3 for shorter, uptempo workouts, Saucony Ride & Triumph for LSD runs and recoveries. Considering getting the NB 1080 13 for that purpose).
Kofuzi I need your expert opinion: Saucony Endorphin Elite or Adidas Prime X2 Strung? (Looking for new shoes to start training again for a HM after recovering from injury)? Thank you!
the endorphin elite is a racing shoe and the prime x2 is racing shoe-esque. I'm not sure I'd pick either one as re-entry points for training. if you're a Saucony fan, consider the Speed 3 (or the new Speed 4 (I haven't tested it yet though)). if you're an Adidas fan, consider the Boston 12
Dude, love your videos. Great structure, great shots, great editing!! I’d love to see some real time run impressions. Like filming a session where you use the shoe for the first time with real time thoughts on the video at the track or on the road. Keep up the great work!🍾
I’ve considered filming the narrative portion from the run, kind of like how Top Gear talks about the car from behind the wheel and weaves that in with voiceovers. But that creates a lot of extra work, not to mention potential audio issues. But I find real-time impressions to be unnecessarily preliminary for the same reasons that people get mad if you don’t have like 20-30 miles in a shoe before you review it.
Great review after some miles in them! Any plans on a comparison to the Pro 3 or Speed 3? That might be the hardest thing for people to really grasp when in the market for a Saucony plated shoe...
I am not currently planning on making that video. I would say that, if you’re not considering any of the alternatives that I suggested in this video, then the endorphin elite is probably also not what you want.
Thank you so much for your amazing content. As I'm a forefoot stricker as well. What would you recommend as your favourite race, training, and recovery cycle shoes so far by 2024?
I usually don’t make those kinds of decisions until my year end wrap ups (although sometimes, I do declare a shoe of year earlier in the year when I feel very confident about a shoe)
Do you still recommend this for 5k racing or are there better options? Did Mile repeats in them today and loved them. I keep debating if I want to go Rebellion Pro or Endorphin Elite on race day. Ahhh the lovely problem runners face 😂
I haven't worn the elites, but I'm a bit skeptical of Saucony right now. I adored the Speeds and Speed 2s, nearly 2000 miles combined in various pairs of those. No problems with them whatsoever, and easily took multiple pairs of them to ~400 miles. I'm now in my 3rd pair of Speed 3s and all of them have had issues. They still feel good underfoot, but the first pair wore through the rubber on the balls of my feet at ~250 miles. The second pair had pieces of the rubber just fall off around 125-150 miles. The rubber on the third pair wore through at 238 miles. All three pairs looked great for the first 100 miles or so, and then rapidly declined.
@@kofuzi For sure. It just makes me a bit leary across the Endo line. Granted these are racing shoes are are probably not actually intended for that many miles. The rest of the current Endo line has the same XT-900 rubber. Saucony is mysteriously silent on what rubber the Pro has. Perhaps it's different from the Shift, Speed, and Pro. But, if it's the same, I suspect it will fall off really quickly past 150 or maybe 200 miles.
The big question with this shoe for me has always been if the differences between it and the Endorphin Pro 3 are enough for a back of pack runner to notice or feel. Despite being slow, I enjoy wearing legit race shoes. I feel like they save my legs (I'm a heavy guy) and it just makes me feel good.
I'm a slower runner too. I found the Endorphin Pro 3 a bit too narrow and the heel angle dug into my achilles. The angle of the toe box didn't work for me either. I find the Elite to be way more comfortable. I don't know if I would notice a difference otherwise if the Pro 3 fit me as well too.
The Elite has a wider footprint. Although it’s a substantial difference in price, I’d nevertheless recommend it for runners who like the Endorphin Pro 3 but find that shoe to be a bit unstable
Thanks Ko! Good one as always. One question if I may, how many hundred miles do you think before this shoe lose it magic? Do you think it can go 250 miles before it is no longer good for a race?
Is the foam has become a little softer compared to when the shoe was new? more spring back as the Alphafly v1 is that even possible :D If so then i need the shoe😮 At the moment i have one pair of adios pro 3 and i like it really . but since you say they are similar i think i will buy these sauconys.

Don't you find it "too firm" and "too elite" as a lot (if not most) of reviewers have been describing it earlier this year? From the review you seem to be okay with its density and find it comfortable for more than 10k.
