respect for caling tose rules stupid :] cuz they are
I’m a snowboarder it’s fun 1:28
My entire family is going to shred winter park on march 12-18th all the way from TX! 😊
Hi i want to start snowboarding i can ski ok so any tips im normally on ski vacations 1 week a year
Dude was hilariously aggressive, confident, and enthusiastic lol. Love this guy. That was an exceptionally good first day snowboarding
I was exactly like this when I was drunk long boarding down a hill. Except I wasn't laughing when I hit the not so soft fluffy snow and eating asphalt 😭
Props to him just sending it. Way better then a average person trying to learn
Well he is an expert skier
@@HH-hd7ob still, ive had my expert level skier friends try snowboarding and none of them were ever as good on a first run as this guy. if he really has no practice at all on a snowboard, that is impressive. its not like rollerblading skills will make you a great skateboarder
one of the main reasons new snowboarders can struggle is the fear of speed a skier doesn’t have that fear
@@suckboytony9637 Agreed. I think a really big part is your weight distribution is a lot less forgiving on a snowboard than skis. I went from being a strong intermediate boarder to carving fairly confidently my first time skiing because I could keep my weight forwards OR backwards (or on the inner/outer edges) without wiping out. Plus if you catch an edge on skis you can transfer weight to the other foot and save yourself, which definitely saved me several times within the day. If you try to keep your weight back and ride timidly on a snowboard you can't really make a turn, and if you keep your weight too far forwards you'll catch an edge and crash hard.
The advanced skier I swapped with for an hour never managed to carve and definitely couldn't stay standing for 100s of feet like the guy in this vid. Very impressive
@@HH-hd7ob I've been skiing for a longtime, pretty comfortable in most terrain. I've tried to learn how to snowboard like maybe 10-15 times and always end up switching back to my skiis after taking a toe edge faceplant.
I'm glad everyone gets to see how hard and exhausting the first week of learning to snowboard is.
This dude made it look easy what are you talking about 😂
@@Youtblazen Made it look easy to fall? Haha
Took me 5 min to learn. Maybe helps bc I surf and skate? Idk
@@teddydives surfing and skating you already have it. I was the same way learning wakeboarding and wake surfing because of snowboarding and skating. Got up and started carving immediately.
@@teddydives its Easy if you have skate experience YES 🙌🏽
I love how every time he falls he just gets back up instantly and starts ripping just as hard LMFAO this was so funny
The way he was full sending it was hilarious and admirable. Dude crushed it on the first day, but I couldn't stop laughing at the nonstop suspense of him catching an edge. Hope he goes for a 2nd day.
Yes! I am so stoked you enjoyed this one 🙌🏼
“Why are you going so fast?”
*lying on his belly*
“I’m ripping dude!”
😂😂😂 this video was amazing. Thanks for the upload
He was ripping!. But makes sense, the fact he knows the concepts of edges and he ain’t scare of speed gave him that advantage. We need more like videos oh him later on the road and see how his skills improved. We all know he’s going to practice snowboarding more after this
Thats exactly what i tought, he understands thst y can trust on ur ski or snowboard edges because they will slowmu down. Anyways ism really stoned have a nice day.
@@beatsbyjingyi1733 lol
He'll get straight back on skis
As a beginner snowboarder 🏂 I can confirm picking up speed is scary af 😂
What’s really scary is when you go to plow and you end up going faster cause of ice 😂
Same! And yes it’s terrifying. My biggest things are fear of speed and fear of running into people 😂
@@briannakinneyyay, i dont feel alone, i hate it when skiiers are like “its ur 5th day, why ur still scared/ fall etc”… try it and then talk too mee
@briannakinney I've gone snowboarding 3 times (maybe about 7 or 8 runs total) and I only ran into someone once but I was on a pretty steep icy slope and not the beginner slope I didn't see at first but definitely felt like an asshole for sure 😅
@@seaofnothingness1051yeah they can talk when they actually try it 😂 falling on a snowboard hurts like hell
“Dude you’re actually doing so good, I’m so proud of you” what a good friend
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Being a skiier that dabbled into boarding, I can 100% confirm this is how it goes, it's like being someone who can snowboard but having drunk and confused handicap applied to your abilities... that and spending more time worrying about catching an edge than anything so you forget what you're supposed to do and just go with send and pray..
I did the same thing but pretty much got the hang of it straight away. I guess having experience with any other type of board (skateboarding, wakeboard etc) helps a lot!
send and pray😂😂😂😂
Never been snowboarding but the falls always look so much more graceful. I always see people fall and basically bounce back up. When I fall on skis its a 20 minute process to unbury myself, find my skis, find my poles, get flipped back around, etc lol
Yeah, you don’t really yard sale on a board. You don’t even see anyone losing their beanie or goggles anymore, now that everyone uses helmets.
Totally depends on the fall...the tricky thing is that you can't stabilize yourself with both legs like you can with skiing, so when you fall its pretty much arms or face first into the ground. I broke my shoulder catching an edge at 35mph the first day up this season. But yes all your gear stays on.
Ive been there, i was flying down this one trail and was about to hit another steep part so i went to slow down and hit my heel edge which made me face plant and scorpion for a ways then i did like 4 or 5 somersaults before finally stopping and my goggles, face mask, and ear buds were no longer on my person lol.
Lmao I wouldn’t call most snowboarding falls “graceful” by any means. Usually you’re full-somersaulting with your feet strapped onto a Board of Death, and you’ve got no choice but to fully accept the fall as it’s happening 😂 you’re essentially strapped to your fate
😂😂😂😂
Youth, expert skier, fearless, committed....He was sending it! Actually doing waaaaay better than most the first time...funny as heck as well! LOL!
He is a machine! Unbelievably good at it from the start, and he just keeps on going! Immediately up and at it, crazy speeds and control! When he falls, he is back up immediately! Huge respect!
I know it's gotta be easier to learn one of the snow sports when you already know the other, but I gotta be honest - I'm pretty mad at how fast this guy picked it up compared to how long it took me lol
Especially without some real helpful hints! Good thing he had lots of snow!
He is an expert skier so he is accustomed to speed and the concept of edge control to turn and stop. But at the same time his skiing expertise is his own handicap because when he picks up speed you can easily see how he tries to control the board moving his center of mass forward and rotating his hips. He did extremely well though given that this is his first time snowboarding.
@@jeanpilla4252 no fr I’m still learning and at least a few time a day I wipe out so hard like I went last week and have a ginormous bruise on my ass that just keeps changing colors n shit 😭
Yeah absolutely
It also Took me soooooo much longer to even learn How to turn
He is CRUSHING it! I am a skier and I tried boarding once. He is doing so well… much better than I.
Highly impressed by the speed he's learning at and also the guys stamina. Just getting up and going full and again.
Do agree that if you know either one or the other it is easier to learn the other.
I’ve skied about 8 times and the first time I went snowboarding I picked it up much faster then my friend who hasn’t done either. I think if you have any slope experience it will help.
this guy has such a good attitude, what a boss!
This was chaotic man 🤣🤣🤣 But I feel you. Just started snowboarding this season after skiing for 20+ years now and it's way harder than it seems. I also over did it with the speed right from the beginning and got wrecked really bad a couple of times so I had to take it a little slower befor I break something. Now I'm looking forward to go snowboarding again in a few weeks and start day 3-7 of learning how to shred. 😎 It's so much fun I already love it. ♥️
"The cool thing about snowboarding though...if you give me a little room here, I can front flip onto my board" what a legendary badass
🤣😂
Great vid! Really cool to see how fast an expert skiier can pick up snowboarding. I "learned" snowboarding as a young teen by breaking my left wrist twice in two years and am now an intermediate-advanced rider in my late 20s. Some of your falls made my heart skip a beat! Haha
So happy you stuck with the sport!
He did surprisingly awesome, I was not expecting that
My friends sent me down the mountain with no experience and I totally went from vertical to horizontal 3 feet in the air onto ice. Great experience 10/10 😂😂
The suspense of him almost catching an edge at 2:44 almost killed me 🤣
Yeah man especially cause if that toe edge caught then he’d have gone FLYING at that speed
He's actually not bad! Way better than I ever did on my first day! You're right about knowing how edges work is huge
I thought I was a fast learner for snow boarding but it took me 2 days to get start trying the jumps then this guy does it on his 2nd run
Dude is crazy right!!
Thank God for the lighthearted laughter that brightens the mood so much! The guy could easily become my idol (I am yet to try snowboarding this winter), his perseverance earned my uttermost respect!
Yes! So happy we brought you joy!
This dude came into snowboarding with exactly the right attitude. You will go very far in snowboarding if you start out with this "F' it, I'm just going to have fun. I don't care if I fall over, make myself look like a fool, I'm just going to send it." That is exactly the right attitude to have when starting out boarding.
This is exactly how i learned snowboarding, 15 years ago and loving it.
Yes!!!
That was so freaking funny and exhilarating to see someone who's never been on a snowboard before, command it better than some intermediate snowboarders. Being an expert skier gave him that total badass rebellion against "learning" the right way and just going for it without fear!
That was too much and just plain hilarious!
Good job !!
Non-stop entertainment!!!! My favorite video from team Buckhouse!!!
one of the main reasons new snowboarders can struggle is the fear of speed a skier doesn’t have that fear
and a legit deductio :]
of course new skiers have a fear of speed...
@@johnpoo1662 I think he is talking about someone who is already a skier, i.e. they've experienced speed before
@@cdayo well said
also along with having that sense of how to fall to not hurt yourself, lot of new ppl just freeze up and slam into the ground once they start falling. Its like how pro skateboarders are really good at not hurting themselves when they fall, they know how to execute them.
I am simply impressed by how quickly he was able to learn it this quickly. It wouldve taken me months
This is proof all it takes is confidence and a good coach to tell you what to do
💯
I think this is my favorite video I've ever seen of yours. lol. What a good sport Luke was humiliating himself and just having a good time with it! I'm curious, did he decide if he wants to keep going with snowboarding or was this just a one time thing?
He’s a pro skier. One time thing
He wasn't really humiliating himself, this is easily the best first day I have seen on a snowboarder.
Yeah this is exactly what I went through the first day of boarding when I was 16 as a good skiër, really just trying to get to carving ASAP, but needing to get through the basic turns first felt so frustrating. Major props to this guy trying it at later age and still rocking it so well.
This is the way my friends taught me when I was 15, where all pretty decent street skaters. Finding your edge is hard. But if you have board experience you definitely have a leg up. Thanks for making me relive my childhood a little
Yes! Stoked to give you the memories! Sorry your friends did that 😂
This guy is a legend. My home hill is place you've been to before, Mt holly in Holly Michigan. I worked there for the 20/21 and 21/22 seasons as a lifty and got to rent equipment for free. Been skiing for ~15 years so I decided to try snowboarding and wow it's hard work. I've tried to learn probably 10-15 times but always end up taking a fat, toe edge faceplant and calling it quits for the day lol.
This is amazing! I love how the way he gets to his heel edge from toe is by doing a 180. He only goes counter clockwise
This video reminds me of my first day on a snowboard. I was already a ski instructor and went with a couple of other ski instructors for our first days. Nothing hurts quite like catching the tow edge and slamming your face into the snow. But I had enough fun that I actually bought a snowboard and kind of mixed it up a little bit.still mostly skied if I got bored, I throw on a snowboard all of a sudden crashing and burning the staple of the snowboarding day. Good job man! You had some great help too!
Good for him! Good attitude goes a long way.
💯
Props to him for jumping right into it, I’m a snowboarder and I tried skiing for the first time and did not do good. He’s good for just starting out. Skiing and than switching to snowboard is hard! Props to you!
Respect for Luke! I was so worried for his wrists. But it also give us all some hope that even an expert skier learning snowboarding can’t escape the spills and splashes!
this dude is absolutely killing it
Right!
I’m only 3 minutes in and I am in TEARS. It’s too early for this 🤣🤣
Edit: Luke is ripping his first day! Happy (snowboarding) Birthday, dude!
I love the snowboarding community. Everyone is so humble and the more skilled are so willing to help.
I laughed so hard on the first lift ride he's like, "I feel like my knee is about to be ripped off!" Haha
@@thomasopp9104 I feel him. I low key like when people put the bar down. Get a little foot rest. I won’t dare put it down myself though 🤣
@@ronald_trunk1704 haha that's interesting. I actually do put the bar down often for that exact purpose
@@thomasopp9104 I can’t argue with it when someone asks lol. I do forget to lift my board sometimes when it’s time to lift the bar back up 🤣
That was impressive. And I had a ton of fun watching it.
That legit is the most impressive thing i've seen in a long time!
Incredible
I tried snowboard 4 years ago for 3 days and I’m a skier. This is how it goes, the key is not to be scared. Being fearless made me a lot better fast, but it came at the cost of me semi breaking my wrist.
with wrist guards or nah?
@@samb2472 without, I've just gone snowboarding again and it went way better
@@appixx That's aweome! I am happy for you. I am just getting my gear, so hopefully I can learn. scared though. Also, did you buy or rent your boots/board?
@Sam B I rented but make sure the boots fit, a bad fit makes it way more tiring to snowboard, good luck out there, hope you get really good 🙌
@@appixx Thank you. I hope so too! But one step at a time. I just do not understand when I should invest in getting my own board/boots? After how many tries or how far later?
This guy just crushed it, super good for a first day
Right 🙌🏼
For the first time on a snowboard, damn, he is rocking it!
“Why are you going so fast?!”
“I’m ripping dude” 😂😂😂

I had a nasty fall that shattered my wrist in 2017, made me fear the snowsports ever since after LONG painful physical therapy and surgery, going to hit the slopes in november 2023 again , and this video has given me more confidence to learn snow sports again! Thank you so much and you guys shredded!
Four months to go! Get some decent wrist guards. I always swear by the Demon Flexmeters or ones like them since they have a progressive flex and protect the wrist from rotating backwards, unlike many wrist guards.
Howd it go?
Oh shit , hi! It went good I actually went a few days after I posted this comment as a YOLO kind of thing , skied and used proper wrist guards I had a blast ! It was good to get over fear of something !
This was amazing timing video. I’m planning on going snowboarding for my first time this year 🔥 this got me so excited. You did so great
Bro lets go you got this
just start out small it wont be easy the first few runs but after that you should be good
Lets go mate
You will love it its hard at the begin but when you got it down its hella fun
Have fun shredding mate !!!
Same!
Awesome dude! Takes real courage to learn on video. You completely rock!
It is 100% easier to learn one when you can already do the other. I skied for about 6 years before I started snowboarding. I watched a couple how-to videos and snowboarding came pretty easy to me, I picked it up very quickly. I think the biggest part was knowing what to expect from the slopes, how fast the slopes can be, etc.
Just picked up snowboarding yesterday and dislocated my arm just figuring out the tow rope 🤣. Was a fun 30 seconds and can’t wait for next season.
tow ropes arent the move, send it to the lift
I feel so much better about the fact that I shattered my wrist last year on day 3 of learning to snowboard. 😂 This video was awesome. Also, props to him. Talk about send it 😂
This man doesn’t fear to fall and just sends it.
*n i c e*
Amazing progress there, thx for the fun and the sending!
Let’s just point out that Johnathan was an elite hype man/encourager.
I had this exact situation 😂 skied all my life but just bought a board and my first run I was already working on switch lmao
The irony of when it was mentioned "I can see how it's so easy to catch a toe edge and break your wrist" then gave a shoutout to "Mike", considering the first time I ever went snowboarding I did what was not recommended around the 840 mark of not going up on your first time. I did that exact thing with a buddy. I caught a really bad toe edge on some ice and shattered my wrist into many pieces, ironically enough my name is also Mike.
Leading forward and trusting the edges is a big breakthrough. Also initiating turns with the front foot.
Aww man watching this just sunk my confidence lol😂. I’ll be in Keystone on the Nov 9th as first time snowboarder from FL. Someone said it’s like a riding ripstick (which I’m good at) but I have feeling I’m gonna eat so much snow. 😅
If you can start your trip with a lesson! It will be 100X better of a trip if you learn the right way!
As a new snowboarder who’s only gone 5 times ever, either this dude is truly talented OR he has tried this before. Since they say it’s his first time…. I say he’s just talented and damn I wish I could do as much as he does!
Talented for sure!
I think the fact that he is so confident and fearless- is making him master it easier
Fearless Luke crushed his first time out. So fast and scary at times but he rips! Super fun video
Man, I was smiling for the length of the whole video. Vibes are tops!
Damn that was impressive for day 1 snowboarding.
In my opinion, the worst fall is catching heel edge when facing up the mountain not catching toe edge facing down it
nothing to catch your fall but the back of your head!
As someone who literally only had these first days of constantly falling and being afraid to crash into another person, this was excruciating to watch 😅 I'm not a skier though, so I'll definitely need this whole season to get to the point where I can trust myself to do safe turns..
Very much hope I'm gonna get there, snowboarding is so awesome!
Amazing. I would love to see more content like this haha
you guys put him on a blue run first run?! He did great. His flexibility is amazing!
Right 🤣😂
Hes already better than that one guy u got with u
People of the Internet are ruthless
holy what a channel, everybody is jsut chill af. almost 100% likes shows it. god i lvoe that energy
I started snowboarding after 8 years of skiing and I remember everybody saying that it would be easy to learn because I was already used to skiing....it wasn't. I'm 12 years boarding now and loving it
This makes me appreciate how skilled 6 year old Casey is from the Rowley Adventures makes snowboarding is. Great video
Snowboarded the first time yesterday and I fell sooo much. I thought longboarding would transfer from skills over but I had a really hard time trying to determine how much pressure to put on my feet and how to catch a ledge. Great video I loved watching this one.
I did the exact same thing my first time, but without any pointers. It was the Middlebury Snow Bowl up in Vermont, a lifelong skiier with around ~20 years experience. A couple of my friends were beginners, so I decided to gut it out with them and try boarding (and a little selfishly, I didn't want to be waiting around for them all day). We went up and figured it out as we went.
That first day feels like you've had your ass kicked, literally and figuratively. And your wrists just kinda go numb. I was probably lucky not to get injured, I should have taken a lesson or started on something easier at least. But once you get the hang of turning it's a beautiful feeling. I stuck with snowboarding after that. I love skiing but boarding brings me even more joy.
Went my first time snowboarding yesterday after skiing my whole life 2 1/2 hours on greens and then I was shredding on blues first day. I love skiing but this might be my new found love
😱😱😱❤️ It took me 3 seasons to learn half of what he managed to do in one day, and then, I switched to skiing. Much better for me. 😅
I love videos like this. Nice work
Came just like the picture. My daughter loves it.
😂
Full send and killed it, good shit 🎉
I’ve been skiing for 10 years. A bit ago I tried snowboarding and fell in love. Only on my 3rd day I did a black.
The 180 at 2 minutes! I screamed!
This man is a monster for just sendin it. Knucks🤜🤛
Went snowbaording once with a bartender whom i was seeing at the time, her idea and i was all for it and sent it as well! We went to this little restaurant/diner upstairs at the lodge when she started making convo with the 2 workers there! As we were finishing up and leaving back to the hill, she was telling those nice older ladies that it was my first time ever being on a ski hill.. they both kinda paused and looked at eachother and one of them, exclaimed "then what the hell's he doing wearing snowboarding boots?!"
Dude, you are incredible for doing that, great job, you caught on quick. I once tried boarding on the bunny hill @ Lake Louise for 1.5 hours and my a$$ hurt so much I quit and put my skies back on for the rest of the day and my life.
I tried not to laugh out of great respect, but... it reminded me of all my falls. He was outstanding! When I crossed from skis to snowboard, it took me a LONG time to figure out that I was twisting my board, trying to keep my shoulders perpendicular to the board (like a skier) instead of in line with the board (like a 'boarder). Consequently, I was always hooking edges and doing grand slams. Great job!
Truly amazing effort for someone who has never stepped on snowboard before. Switch, toe/heel turns, 180s...lol. You can tell he understands the concepts just the application of it is off a bit.
1:25 love the South Park reference
😂
Snowboarding looks fun
This is so awesome! It's super funny but dude you're ripping lmao! Those accidental tricks were gold!
Dammmmm. He has so much confident. I freaked out and cried when I was on a snowboard at first
As a intermediate snowboarder, he did really good for his first time! A lot better then when I first started. I'll never forget how hard and rewarding it was learning to snowboard!
Lol I love him just going down the hill fast and chilling with the chaos, now worries for technique or turning, just going down😂
We love to see the effort!!
Love your videos man! Sticker secured😮💨
As someone who has been skiing for the last 20 years... I just learned how to snowboard yesterday and it was not as hard as I expected. After about 4 hours both me and my friend could turn both directions, control our speed, and make it down a blue run no problem. My fiance on the other hand could not. My friend who is also learning to ski said it was way easier than skiing, so I think it's a person by person thing. My fiance said skiing was easier to learn, but me and my friend think snowboarding was. He can't turn both directions on skis, my fiance and I have both been skiing for ages, so I think we got one person from each camp in our little sample size.
good to see someone who's ripping it on their first day still struggles with toe edge all the time because that's also what causes me the most problems while learning. every single toe edge turn is scary because it's what causes me the most falls. and they hurt the most too.
