Lifting MORE WEIGHT for MORE REPS is how you build muscle. But if you can't even get into position with proper form... that can be a huge problem. But whether you're lifting 30s or 100 pound dumbbells, this technique will get you ready to bench as much weight as possible with perfect form on every set! *12 WEEK PUSH, PULL, LEGS PROGRAM* - BUILD MUSCLE & STRENGTH! - muscularstrength.com/Push-Pull-Legs (1:13)- How To: Dumbbell Bench Press | 3 GOLDEN RULES - ua-cam.com/video/Y_7aHqXeCfQ/v-deo.html
Its so nice to see someone who isn't on gear using realistic weights with a realistic physique. This is truly what getting strong and healthy for life is all about. 😁👍
Update6 months and I'm still loving this bench. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxo_64lVTGMk7y4aXTPxPOcQ3YTLyQ6kYV I use it almost daily. I've gotten used to the small wobble and it's no problem at all. Love the storage, it folds right next to my weight set in the garage and hardly takes any space. I wish the covering material was a little bit tougher. I have a feeling that in a couple years it'll tear, but the bench is very well priced that I would just buy a new one.3 month usage review. Awesome bench for someone looking for compactness and storage. I did have to drill a couple holes to adjust my preferred seating position and leg bar position but that's only due to my personal preference. It's very sturdy for normal workouts, but for anyone going above 100# dumbbell press it wobbles ever so slightly. I would probably go with a fixed bench if that's the case. That being said i can accomplish 99% of my normal gym workout with this setup. Very happy with the purchase.
Hey Scott! I have something to tell you. You definitely discussed this in a previous video - I probably saw it about a year ago. Now... this comment isnt about having a go at you for duplicating content!!!! LOL It is to say THANK YOU. I am SO grateful. I couldn't get past 30KG for so long - was getting really down as I knew I had more in the tank but no spotter etc. I saw your video and thought "hmm.... ok!". To begin with I really hated the feeling of falling backward with weights in my hands and it must have taken me a couple of weeks to get used to the feeling and trust in it. Roll on 12 months and at Xmas I did my first ever couple of reps on 40KG. 10KG improvement over 12 months purely down to this technique 100%. I can keep my arms straight as I drop back and everything you say is spot on and I cannot thank you enough. I am 45 now.... Damn... but its a great feeling to be doing reps of 8 with 38kg - something I could only have dreamed about before you gave me the heads up. OK! So.... Happy New Year!!
Yeah bro, my Cheat & Recover program and eating LOTS of food is paying off haha :-D Cheat & Recover program is coming.. get ready!! muscularstrength.com/Full-Workout-Programs
I think you're one of the few UA-cam fitness guys, that's not on steroids. That's why I like your videos the most, cause you're realistic. Some other "fitness experts", always forget to mention the main ingredient in their meal plan(syringe).
I remember you giving this tip years ago back in the “tiny blue adidas shorts” era haha been doing them like that every since and love it, given your advice to many others as well. Keep up the good work Scott 💪🏻😄
Yeah man, old school gold! Haha. Thought all the new subs since then needed to know about it 👍🏻😊 You ready for my Cheat & Recover program coming this month?! muscularstrength.com/Full-Workout-Programs
Scott, I just finished working out with this method of lifting the dumbbells and all I could say is....WOW. Thank you so much for breaking down the technique and showing the correct, proper way of lifting and being in ready position for dumbbell press.
Man I have been looking forward to it as well!! SO PUMPED! You going to hit my Cheat & Recover program as well? Should be releasing at the same time as the app! muscularstrength.com/Full-Workout-Programs
I am just trying to make it through gym idiot season, gotta love the casuals who don't know gym manners or proper technique. They are super setting on half the gym and rudely demanding you hurry your set. Gotta love it.
Hey Scott thanks for the tip! Perfect timing, i’ve been stuck with the same weights for weeks just because of the starting movement. I’ll give this a try
This should definitely help you out bro! Let me know how it goes and post in the forums on my site if you ever need more help! www.MuscularStrength.com/forum
Well I am for sure going to do more live streams, so I will let you know when those are happening, but also I post other content on my other channel as well if you want to check that out - ua-cam.com/users/OhTheHermanity
Thank you man I've been struggling lifting the dumbbells at the start of my workout. This definitely would help me alot and I may be able to lift more because of it
I'm just now seeing this. My notifications are not coming in. Anyways, this is awesome. I'll start this when i get out the slump I've been in. Take care, bro.👍
hey Maurice.. so let me get this straight (because UA-cam does not give a shit about my channel) - You have notifications turned on, you have the bell clicked, and have email turned on.. but still nothing? Did you get notified about my last few videos? Can you e-mail me? thanks man! scott@scotthermanfitness.com
ScottHermanFitness same here, no notification at all. Been a subscriber for forever with notifications turned on .... youtube has been doing this shit lately, crazy thing is i get notifications for recommended videos on people i dont even sub to
I've had UA-cam opened on my laptop pretty much all day, and my phone next to me. Notifications turned on with bell clicked, this still isn't showing up in my notifications :( Just stumbled on it searching for other videos to watch.
ScottHermanFitness will try this today! Have to admit it is one of the worst parts about dumbell pressing for me with shoulder issues to get them up the first time. Hopefully this will make it a lot better
Scott you always reply to my comment which makes me super happy. Pls make a video between super sets vs giant sets vs drop sets. Many so called trainers have spread so much false info on this
I do my best to get to everyone! Well each variation has their own benefits.. but I will see what I can do! Make sure you post any other questions you have in the forums on my site! www.MuscularStrength.com/forum
Thanks again for your work with the videos! I struggle like hell with this movement, always afraid I will drop the dumbbell on my face, nice to see the movement in detail, will try it in the next time I do chest press with dumbbells
Should have watched this before this mornings lift session!! Totally could have benched heavier but couldn't lift those damn DB over! Thanks for this vid and the others you post! Super helpful! Cheers!

Hey Scott, I have my notification bell selected and have for a while, but I did not receive a notification for this video. I know you’ve had trouble with UA-cam doing this in the past so I figured I’d let you know. Good luck with your move to FL!
I remember I was so scared to try this out for the first time with 70lbs at the time because i thought I'd twist or break my arm doing the motion, but doing it from the bottom would always tire me out and be difficult. One day I decided to start with 35lbs and just do the technique until I got to 70lbs. Now I have no hesitation doing it with 90lbs and it's the best possible way!
great video been doing this for a while now since watching one of your previous videos! just gutted wont be in the gym for a little while first session back in new year I have managed to injure my shoulder so just cardio and some limited abs for the time being! 😟
ScottHermanFitness yeh really sucks it was stupid too but dont think its to serious as getting a bit more mobility already in future think ill take an extra 5 to 10 minutes to warm up properly!!
Great tip for the gym user. I'am a home workout type uses plated dumbbells. This technique may be less applicable. Love to see some tricks for setting old school weights. (It's not economical to have a full set of fixed weight DB!).
I might need to find some so I can do that! Haha. You doing my home program though? All you need is dumbbells - muscularstrength.com/Full-Workout-Programs
I learned how to do this from a video you did a while back. It's helped me out tons and it's really cool to be able to teach it to other guys who know no better. When they ask where I learned it I just tell them, Scott Herman Fitness bro!!
Great tips thank you, Before Dumbbell benching i like to sit on the edge like u do and kinda squeeze my back so that my shoulder go back allowing the chest to take the lead, next just following your tips.
This is a great video I have gone up to 100lb for press but my starting position is always really bad. You have probably saved me from a shoulder problem
hmm wish i saw this right before gym today! XD Scott, i just pressed 100lb dumbbells for the first time :D for 3 reps. And at a bodyweight of only 165lbs!
Awesome job man!! You’ll be hitting the 115lb dumbbells in no time 😁 You ready for my Cheat & Recover program coming this month?! muscularstrength.com/Full-Workout-Programs

ScottHermanFitness How much do you weigh ?
I weigh 185lbs
I see guys at the gym using chains on bench press to make it easier going down and harder going up is this a waste of time?
What should I do to fix scapular winging ?
+Scott Taylor not at all, it's just like a different variation of using bands. Chains are good if you have trouble coming out of the hole.
