This process also works if you are using optics like the Holosun 509T-RD that comes with a metal adapter plate. You'll use the same process I show in the video, but instead you're going to try fitting the plastic plates to the metal adapter instead of the optic itself.
Bravo that was a great video. That I will be using to mount this 507c X2 green Optic to my Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Metal. Thank you for sharing.. Great job on the education of teaching me how to do this. I appreciate you..
** The video provides a comprehensive and visually engaging explanation of the installation process for a red dot sight. As a result, I am now confident in my ability to successfully install the same red dot sight that was featured in the video. I appreciate the clear and concise instructions provided. Thank you Sir **
I bought the Primary Arms SLx RS-10 1x23mm Mini Reflex Sight - 3 MOA Dot for mine. Neither screws secure the optic to the gun. I am using the mrds footprint.
Did you buy yours new? If you did and it didn’t come with it, and your slide was factory machined for optics, I’d contact S&W and see if they can just send you one.
Thanks for the video. I've mounted plenty of optics on glocks/cz's but with my 2nd hand m&p 2.0, i didnt have the instruction book and the amount of plates had me confused.
I called S&W about which plate to use on a M&P 2.0 metal. They said to use the #3/Doctor. It would not fit so I called back and they said that they were mistaken. That I should use plate #5 with screw type “C”. I put it on (it’s a tight fit) shot 400 rounds and it’s working fine.
I have a 2.0 compact spec series and man those screws are on tight. I’m not messing with it anymore. Same thing happened with my hellcat osp. Completely stripped the screws and had to send it to Springfield to remove them
To prevent stripping the hex of small screw heads that do not turn easily DO NOT try to remove them a typical Allen wrench. Buy a precision ground tool from MIP. This is imperative if you're removing the tiny screw that retains the striker block cover. Also degrease threads in slide before installing screws.
This may be a dumb question but can I use any red dot on a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 10mm? I just need to find the right plate to fit the "footprint" of the specific optic?
Don't use the Holosun screw that came with the optic because apparently everything I've seen videos wise the screws that come with Holosun optics snap or shear off
Wish they would call the foot prints on the sights type 1 through 7. That would make life much easier. What a mess. Also do you know if they make these in metal ?
If it doesn't have an optics cut, you'll need to have the slide custom milled. You could send it to someone like C+H Precision Weapons, and have them do it. They can mill it to custom fit the optic you want, which also means you don't have to worry about adapter plates.
I don't believe so. If you want to go with 45, you could always send your pistol to get it custom fitted for the optic you want. I've heard C&H Precision Weapons does a good job.
idk how to feel about these, i mean you cant even really cowitness with the plate rising the optic up. Could any optic using m2.0 owner give me their thought on this firearm and mounting solution?
The red dot and Iron Sights are not intended to co witness. They are designed to be sighted in independently. However if you really wanted to have co witnessed sights, you could use a non optics cut slide and send it to a gun smith to have it milled to fit a red dot low enough to possibly co witness.
"take all these plates out of the bag, lay them out like this, stand the screws on end - make sure you have them in numerical order and then sweep them all in the trash" hahahahaha
If you can save up for the M&P 2.0 c o r e performance center A friend of mine has one and they says it's far superior to the Glock 34 that he bought much better trigger plus it's ported.
informative vid but the amount of times you stop to say something extraordinarily obvious kind of pissed me off lol. not hating its just people know and if not then they should watch different videos for that type of basic info
I've been hearing from other gun channels that the plastic mounts are crap and the red dot ends up moving a bit, I'm trying to find the metal plate that I need for the AT3 tactical ARO Micro Red Dot Sight. Any Ideas on how I find such plate?
This process also works if you are using optics like the Holosun 509T-RD that comes with a metal adapter plate. You'll use the same process I show in the video, but instead you're going to try fitting the plastic plates to the metal adapter instead of the optic itself.
will it be obnoxiously high?
@@TheJakobLott Yes it will...

Great job on the education of teaching me how to do this.
I appreciate you..
Thank you for this. Just got my S&W M&P 2.0 Compact. You helped me figure out the path to getting a red dot installed.
We were 95% sure we were on the right track. You confirmed it. Thank you. Also... Nicely made video. Well done.
Mounted my first optic. Glad I checked out video. Had it wrong the first time.
THANK YOU!! Put a Venom on my M&P10mm, plate 5 by the way! I was so wrong on the screws, I’m glad I watched this first!
Thanks for this video. I've been driving myself nuts trying to figure out what plate to use.
Great tutorial, thanks! I already bought a plate from C&H Precision when I didn't see the Holosun listed in the book. "Learning by doing."
Awesome video dude! Told me everything I needed to know to get my 10mm 2.0 set up! 🤘
Thank you for doing this video. Answered all my questions.
Thanks for this! Mounting my first optic and this video was perfect...now to find that damn manual...

This was clear cut, I’m about to mount mines now
Excellent instructions, anyone can follow. Recommend marking and setting top of screw.
My new 5.7x 28 didn’t come with plates or screws, but has slots for plates cut into the case foam. Do all RMSc optics direct mount without a plate?
I bought the Primary Arms SLx RS-10 1x23mm Mini Reflex Sight - 3 MOA Dot for mine. Neither screws secure the optic to the gun. I am using the mrds footprint.
Never got these plates when i bought my pistol
you don't have to guess because the manual says what plate to use for RMR footprint.
What did you use to take off the cover plate? Tried at t8 and a hex 5/64 neither worked...
I am looking for an adapter plate for a Primary Arms SLx RS-10 for my M.P. 2.0 optic ready. The plastic plates do not cut it for the gun or optic.
I didn't get one dose somebody have a link to where I can buy this plate kit
Did you buy yours new? If you did and it didn’t come with it, and your slide was factory machined for optics, I’d contact S&W and see if they can just send you one.
you can flip down the sear deactivation lever to disengage the slide from lower receiver. Thus not having to “drop”the hammer when removing the slide.
why does it hurt the hammer to drop it on a empty chamber? Or is that just in case you dont trust that you unloaded the gun.
I used the screws for the delta point pro, with this same optic. The holosun 507c x2.
Hey which tool did you use to take off the plate that comes with the m&p?
Merci ! Thank you for this great vidéo,
If you hadn't been there, I sold my Holosun 507 ;)
Answered my questions, thanks.
Thanks for the video. I've mounted plenty of optics on glocks/cz's but with my 2nd hand m&p 2.0, i didnt have the instruction book and the amount of plates had me confused.
My gun never came with the bag with the mounting plates, where can I buy them?
Great video thank you 👍
So! what screws do you use when the screw chart shows blanks all the way across?
Simple and helpful. Thank you!

This was for the Vortex Venom red dot.
That's the way I went with my vortex venom Also
I bought a used OR M&P 2.0 and it didn’t come with that bag of plates/screws. Does anyone know if it’s easy to get a replacement bag from S&W?
C&H is the only way to go for the holosun 507c
Did you have any problems with these screws? They seem too short I just got a 407c
My optic came with various screws to fit various pistols.
I have a 2.0 compact spec series and man those screws are on tight. I’m not messing with it anymore. Same thing happened with my hellcat osp. Completely stripped the screws and had to send it to Springfield to remove them

I was really hoping I wouldn't need a plate. Plates always look bad to me because they are never shaped like the slide.
Mine has a little notch like a little bolt or pin sticking up not allowing the plate to lay flush
This may be a dumb question but can I use any red dot on a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 10mm? I just need to find the right plate to fit the "footprint" of the specific optic?

I have a psa dagger docter footprint if I got your holosun sight does that mean I don’t need an adapter plate?
Note for any Holosun owners. There are 2 different length of screws. Use the longer ones
excellent instructions! Thank you Sir!
Where can I purchase the plates from the beginning of the video? I got this gun as airsoft and it didn't come with those.
That is for the helpful video. What kind of light you running?
(Thanks. Not “that”. My typings terrible)
Which plate number for an EPS?
One question type 3 plate fits with my dot but the plastic bump it’s in front instead of the back but the bolts align it’s that fine ? Thanks
Are these screws 6-32’s ?
where can i get replacement screws my optic only came with short screws missing the longer ones
CH precision weapons sells replacement screws for their metal base plates that might work for you. chpws.com/search-results/?q=replacement%20screws
my 2.0 has a smooth slide. i dont have the 2 screws that he removed at the beginning of the video.
You have the older version then. I just bought a new one for this reason
@@joshp7258 I was looking to buy an optics ready slide but that costs almost as much as the whole gun. So I might just trade mine in for a newer one.
Okay so.....what do you do if your firearm doesn't have the "optic ready" removeable adapter plate? (I'm not an optic guy, just trying it out)
If it doesn't have an optics cut, you'll need to have the slide custom milled. You could send it to someone like C+H Precision Weapons, and have them do it. They can mill it to custom fit the optic you want, which also means you don't have to worry about adapter plates.
Take the baig? MINNESOTA ey?
What’s a good holster for the optic on the gun and possibly a pouch for a extra mag?
black hawk T series
Do they make a 45 compact version ready for optics?
I don't believe so. If you want to go with 45, you could always send your pistol to get it custom fitted for the optic you want. I've heard C&H Precision Weapons does a good job.
Did you find that the provided Holosun screws had enough thread engagement to keep the optic mounted properly and securely?
Neither the screws from holosun OR smith and wesson are long enough. Get the RMR screws from jager.
idk how to feel about these, i mean you cant even really cowitness with the plate rising the optic up. Could any optic using m2.0 owner give me their thought on this firearm and mounting solution?

Plastic plates??? Why?
thank you!
How do you like the accuracy on the mp9 2.0? I’m looking into getting one over the Glock 19 mos.
If you can save up for the M&P 2.0 c o r e performance center A friend of mine has one and they says it's far superior to the Glock 34 that he bought much better trigger plus it's ported.
Bage?
Don’t forget to torque down to spec. Or you’ll find out the hard way…. (Sheared screws)
So you just showed the EPS in the pic for the hell of it?? Lol 🤷♂️
First step, throw away the bag that came with your m&p. Next, order a real plate from c&h precision.
Ross can you help me with the reason for this enhancement. Thanks
or just forget about plates entirely, and get a Holosun SCS?
And then you realize that C&H has also been having QC issues and this system is fine because the optic still mounts to metal
@@ShastaBean or just use the iron sights
@@someone.621 or just remove all sights and point in the general direction. And remove the scope from all rifles, too. Maybe just a shotgun bead?
You forgot to take a ramrod and put through the barrel once taken out of the slide to make sure safe…. I mean.. Come on guy!

Should have watched this first.

First, get a different dot. If you're worried about the quality of the plates, you should really be worried about the quality of the optic too
Thank you 👍🏻
