FILM DESCRIPTION:
Covert government assassin Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is killed after being double-crossed by his boss, Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen). Upon arriving in Hell, Simmons is offered an opportunity to return to Earth if he's willing to lead an evil army. He accepts, and is reincarnated as a "Hellspawn" -- a twisted, horribly disfigured version of his former self. However, Spawn serves as a force of good, much to the dismay of the Devil's henchman, a wicked clown (John Leguizamo).

This movie is the definition of nostalgia. it's terrible by todays standards (maybe even back then) but its attached to a lot of fond memories.
Not knowing the context this fight scene just gets funnier and funnier

The CGI in this movie, especially in Hell, reminds me so much of videogames.

I was there 3000 years ago,in the cinema watching it and enjoying it.
Man, the CGI did not age well...at all. Was it already that bad at release? Or did we just saw it differently.
You have to remember this was the 90s and there was some visionary of how they view Hell and the available special effects they had back then
To be honest YES. Even in 97 it wasn't looking good. It was like movie production was rushed, sloppy editing and half baked CGI. Same was with Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. And both of them was poorly written.
@@josephhernandez1885 That's just an excuse. There's movies before that depict Hell and they look way better than this. Even Bill and Ted for God's sake! Nice try. 😅

It was also what we expected back in the 90s. The Matrix started the next generation of special effects.
I really wished the stuck to practical effects instead of cgi and what bothers me more is the fact that Jurassic park came out in 1993 while this came out in 1997 friggin 4 years later and and ended up with asylum style cgi

Well come to think of it gremlins is the oversize demon in spawn. Had that mortal kombat 2 shao kang vibes of the after world😅🤣
If the final fight scene in this film had been set in a cemetery, the results would have been much better

Considering Jurassic Park was earlier than this, it is unacceptably terrible CGI.
Horrible CGI aside this is an insane feat for a comic character (even by today’s standards).
I know they thought this was good. But this set of scenes was an utter joke. A six year old could have done better graphics back then. lol

They should reboot this franchise....and they wouldnt even have to woke-ify it, the main character is already black.
