    Fascinating! Perhaps widely known....but for me, this was new technology. And now I understand why you mounted this FOB at the bottom of your Mustang vest. Thank you!

    I have a tip for you. When drilling out a hole, use the 5 minute epoxy you can get from the hardware store. I use a popcicle stick to spread it in tight areas so you don't have so much cleanup. In your application, tape the backside so no runoff and just a thin coat is enough to seal the wood.

    That’s a good idea especially when you have an auto pilot system, that you can leave the helm.

      Yes I agree by having the autopilot you feel more free to move everywhere around the boat and that's what makes it more dangerous without it Wireless kill switch

    Glad to see you installed. It will shut off immediately in salt water and fresh water. We tested it many times. Try it with your wife driving and show her the bypass button. We did it with our boys so they would know how to get us if we fell off. Great video. Thanks

      Out On The Reef from what I had read it has something to do with the density of water. That shuts it off so quick. What we did was have the boat in gear at trolling speed.. around 9 knots as if I was wahoo fishing. It literally shuts off immediately when I jumped in, I was a little concerned about the time it would take to shut off because of the distance to swim back to the boat and the trolling gear dragging behind us if it were a real world situation. I was completely impressed.. it takes a lot for me to trust something as vital as a kill switch. We even tried the bypass plug to make sure it works. 👍 Don’t forget to get you a pack of batteries for the fob, it does last a long time, but you know you can’t be to prepared. Again thanks for the great videos my boys are always on me to put some on for them. Be safe out there and let me know when you get in the Destin area

    Glad to see you finally listen to me. I've had mine for two years now love it very safe to use by yourself. If I am going to have ppl on board then I unhook my mob at the back of unit then I can just use my factory lanyard for my etec. Also important point the fob that is number 1 is considered helm or captain if any other of the remaining three fall in water just the alarm goes off doesn't kill the engine but this in my opinion is the best system on market JT 🇺🇸🐟🎣🛥⛱🌴😊😃🙏🏻

    I've had one on my Grady 265 Express for a couple years - it's an extremely important product that undoubtedly saves lives... HI OOTR, great video; very well done, and a beautiful job on the installation. I too am on my boat alone most of the time, and this would be very helpful. Famous sailor Mike Plant fell off his sailboat Coyote crossing the north Atlantic. He was known for not wearing a safety harness. It must have been a bad feeling as he watched his boat sailing away.... It too think about how bad it would be watching my Parker motor away from me. Even at idle, I would not be able to catch the boat!

      @OutOnTheReef  5 років тому

      Yes Andrew I agree it's got to be one of the worst feelings ever seeing you both disappear and now you're left alone in the water I really recommend you to get one especially you go alone by yourself it will give you peace of mind and also give me peace of mind knowing that you wearing one navigate safe Capitan

      @@OutOnTheReef Good info! I have learned a lot from you about safety in operating boats like ours. My last boat for 28+ years would have been nearly impossible to fall overboard; not so with my Parker. It only takes a moment to have a problem. I am embarrassed to tell this, but it is a true account and maybe it will help someone else be smarter than me! I was running from my cockpit controls (I NEVER run on plane from there, only in the pilothouse), and I had the cut-off cable hooked to my shorts. It was a very rough day, and I was trolling at only 7 knots. I got tossed against throttle. The boat took off! I was knocked back against the transom door and over on to the Armstrong swim platform. I did not go overboard, but I did end up on the platform next to the motor. Since I had the cut off clipped to my shorts, the motor DID cut off. If I had fallen overboard, and did not have the cut-off cable connected I would have been in trouble.... I will be taking your advice and am getting an inflatable life-vest, GPS locator, EPIRB, and also the cut-off like you showed in this video. I don't have a great place to install one, but I will find a place..... Thank you for all your videos and all the information you share with all of us.... you are the best!

    Wish you would have shown the wiring. The instructions show the wires from the existing kill switch going directly to the MOB+. But if that is the case then how is the existing kill switch in parallel? Wouldn't you have to have some sort of "T" connection where your existing KS goes directly to your ignition like is always has and then you have the two wires from the MOB+ spliced in as a 3 way connection? I just don't understand how the existing KS will still work if it goes directly to the MOB+ as described in the instructions,.

    Hey captain I just came across the fell video one question can 2 motors be wired in series I have a trolling motor I run often

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  3 роки тому

      What I've heard is that you have to buy another special wire to hook them up in series I believe you may want to check out the website I know you could do it they make them for several engines

    Not that it will happen But that cinder block is facing the wrong way, they are meant to site with the holes on the bottom. Don’t want it to crumble on you.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  5 років тому

      That's a great observation Captain you have been the only one that noticed that and you're right on the side of the block it loses strength they're meant to be upwards.
      Thanks for the heads up Captain

    This remind me when i was playing jetski. i forgot to put safety wire on my wrist because i hate that wire..i think this cool device suit attached on jetski.i know that remote is waterproof but how about the receiver system? it is waterproof too?

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  5 років тому +1

      I looked at the receiver and it looks waterproof the backside of it is not that's why there's a seal and you have to keep it really away from the water the inside part of the outside looks like it's completely sealed you may want to find out more information about that especially for the jet ski is a great upgrade for safety

    I have twin Yamaha outboards. I know it’s a dumb question, but how do I know where the kill switch wires are and which ones? Right now there is one lanyard with a traditional horseshoe type kill switch similar to the jetskis.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  3 роки тому +1

      they sell extra wires for the other engine check their website cap. and you may find it there, they do have the system for 2 engines

    • @OutOnTheReef

    50-60 ft seems a bit much in high current bad weather and a weak swimmer ? Still better to have than not to have though 👍🏻 I’m shopping for those deciding which one because I bought solo often as well thanks for sharing captain

    • @richg3411
      @richg3411 5 років тому +2

      My exact thought too John. At 20 MPH you are talking 1,760 feet (1/3 of a mile) per minute, so with the auto-pilot, it is not inconceivable that there could be a MOB situation that really puts a good distance between you and your vessel. Add in a strong current and or rough conditions our in the GS and you have an issue. But as you said, it is better than having nothing. Probably a good policy to remain inside the pilothouse when underway at full cruising speed.

    • @stevendelsol2712

      John, the motor will cut as soon as it hits the water. It'll loose contact with the helm antenna

      @@richg3411 thanks Rich for you comment and yes it's a better to have something like this unit then seeing your boat disappear into the deep blue water.
      Like you said it might be a thousand feet but it sounds better than 200 to 600 miles away from your boat

    • @John-bx6ed
      @John-bx6ed 5 років тому +1

      So the 50-60 ft is not the requirement just as long as the remote hits the water regardless of distance then that will kill the motor ?

    My engine wont start now after doing this it's become a big issue with installing this. I had about 2 inches of single black and single white wire go from my kill switch to a male connector which plugged into a female connector which had 2 wires of black and 2 wires of white coming into it. I cut both male and female connectors. Then took the orange wire from the hub and black from the existing kill switch, put it to one side of a butt connector and put the two black wires that went to the female connector which I cut from the ignition and bridged them like that. Same procedure with the white with grey. Manufacturer is not helping at all and is lost on what to do and there are no troubleshooting videos out there. Can you help?

    What if is windy and you fall overboard? Can you swim fast enough to keep up with a moving boat ?

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  4 роки тому

      Think about this imagine you falling overboard and seeing your boat speeding away from you or a better chance seeing it slowly disappear because of the wind I think that's a better choice because you have more chance that you can swim to your boat even if it's a little windy.
      when your life's in danger you will swim fast
