      Lift. Run. Shoot. Shoot being optional for some. For the 3 people who don’t know who Cameron Hanes is I’m referring to compound bows.

    Great video! Very easily digestible info. I'm a huge fan of the back to back long runs. I think that's the key to being ready for some of these longer races. Teaching your legs what it feels like to run tired, but in a more controlled, safe way, is key.

    I would add and encourage cold WATER therapy for recovery as well. At 57 it is a huge component for me. 49 degrees 6 minutes a day. I prefer after workouts but a lot of people prefer before. I’ve tried both and do both but feel better results plunging after.

      Hey Matt! Thanks for the sub! I started Implementing cold Water therapy and sauna 4-5x per week and 6-7x per week leading up to my 100 miler in December. I cant train without it now definitely will have to make an updated vid showing how I plug that in. Thanks again for watching.

    Great video! Strength training shaved a minute per mile off my pace when i was doing 5ks, with less running. I'm hoping it can do similar magic for 50k/milers. 🤞 As far as sleep, sadly for some of us there's nothing simple about it. I work 55-65 hours a week at two jobs, and have a broken circadian rhythm... 4-6 hours is typical, with 7 being incredible. I've learned that if i want to live my life to the fullest, i just have to do it tired. I'll definitely try to prioritize it more in my 50 mile training this year.... maybe get it up to 5-7 hours a night! 😮 😅

      For your own sake: move to Europe, start a job (that's just the one job) with a maximum of 40 hours a week and relax.

    I have a 56 miler on Saturday and I don't think I was able to train enough. Had to take time off jiu jitsu and decided to try a marathon while my shoulder heals, but only have been training for 2 months. Never ran long distances before that. I usually run about 5 miles after work everyday. On Saturday I'll run longer, 15 to 20 Miles. Sunday usually about 10 or 15. And that's only been for the last couple weeks I've been able to get those kind of runs in. Plus it's a trail run with decent elevation gain and I've been running on flat concrete. Plus it's hot as shit and my knowledge of hydration and fueling is pretty lacking. I'm going to go race, what's the worse that can happen, I'll just not finish in time. I'm just sort of wondering what my chances are.

    • @danmarchese_
      @danmarchese_  Рік тому +2

      Hey man thanks for watching. I think you have some pretty solid training under your belt man. It’s really all about pacing yourself, staying hydrated, taking your time and eat. If you have no time goal and are just doing it to finish. Just have fun with it. Don’t go too fast out the gate like many will. Walk when you need to especially up hills. You will crush it if you have no doubt that you’ll finish. Stay up on hydration most importantly man!! Good luck! Let me know how you do.

      Should not need fueling for long workouts up to 3 Hours or 25 miles, you should just be burning fat

    • @vendejos
      @vendejos 9 місяців тому +1

      @@BRunner12 According to science, that’s a no😊

    • @BRunner12
      @BRunner12 9 місяців тому +1

      @@vendejos I won't get into the use of the word "science" but what science are you talking about, fuel source for long steady state or slower runs should be fat. My science is simple, I've done it for 15 years on runs up to 25 miles even when adding some Marathon or Threshold pace the last 5 to 10 miles.

    • @danmarchese_
      @danmarchese_  Рік тому +1

      Hey Edward thanks for asking! My longest run for my 100 miler was 25 miles. I did a back to back where the day before I completed a 20 miler. I built up back to back runs over a 6 week period. My highest weekly total mileage was just over 70 miles. I strength trained all the way up until the race 3-5 days per week along with stair master in the last 4 weeks / 2x per week for 20-30 minutes.
