Really enjoying your content! Some people do great with faster laps. I'm from Suffolk in the UK which has one of the most competitive BYU's in Europe...it was won after 88 laps, 366 miles by a guy averaging about 44min laps! 2nd place averaged over 50 mins so it really varies as to what suits you. Good luck with the channel✌️
@@paulalmond8242 thank you man! 88 laps with an average of 44mins is insane. The problem for me was, at some point I was getting slower and slower with each lap. So I definitely started to fast. But for sure you can master one pace and use the break perfectly for your recovery. Next time I‘ll be more strategic about the race right from the start.
Saw your most recent video. Then watched this. Hope you come out with more soon and stay consistent! Looks like these past 2 has given you a bit of success with the algorithm.
Great video. Did 20 on my first one. Last lap was 56:30, convinced myself I can't go any further. When I woke up I regretted I didn't at least try more. Never again will I stop in camp. Next one in 3 weeks.
You and these videos are such a big inspiration to me. Had to write down "I don't love running, I use it as a vehicle and a tool to make a soft weak undisciplined person into someone as tough as possible". Love it!
Voller Erfolg
I rlly appreciate your videos. I'm captain of my xc team and it gets discouraging feeling like nobody around me has a winning mindset. Seeing you train alone has inspired me to push as hard as I did back when I started training. cheers mate
@@MrUnprepared small update - I've pushed my 5k time from 19:54 to 18:09 after many dicsouraging races following sickness and injury. My sectional meet is tomorrow and I have a shot at making the state meet. I am going back to this to get myself in the mindset again.
Krasser Respekt.
Danke :) ch hab ehrlich gesagt keine besonderen sportlichen Hintergrund.
@MrUnprepared 5 laps! I finished lap 5 with 3 minutes left before the whistle blew for the start of lap 6. I decided to ring the bell and DNF. The temperature and elevation (5000 feet ASL) and 33.5 km all combined to prompt my decision. I'll do another Backyard for sure. Have a great day! I'll watch for more content on your channel. Cheers, John
@@CalvinBeRunning usually I burn roughly 1000 calories on a 14km run. So for this race it was maybe around 10.000. But I was using a different watch back then and didn‘t pay attention to the calories burned.

Does your watch count calories? How many did you burn during a race like that?

Bigger males like him (me) burn about 100 calories per mile. No matter how fast or slow, it's about the same.
