He is such a sweethearted man. He comes across gruff and brutally honest which he is! But inside his heart is soft and kind. Miss Nora his beloved wife is suffering from Alzheimer's and he's been caring for her. Remember Nora and him in your prayers. It's sad his family had such a negative experience with The Catholic Church which doesn't surprise me about them. What they represent us nothing to what Christ truly represents and his undying love for us. God bless you John Lydon and Mrs. Nora Lydon.

Two of his brothers are very sick as well. And he's still involved in caring for Ari Up's kids. ( his step grandchildren)
Some people in the church are all about control and some are about love and service to the poor. Many are bitter because they were put into positions (teaching, administration etc} that they didn't want to do and weren't suited for.
The Lydons married in the early to mid 80s. That's a long marriage. BTW some of the biggest rebels in society have been raised in the Catholic Church. ie Madonna..

Lydon is a living legend and I'm glad I've always understood him & sad for those who don't. He's blatant & gruff yes but also the biggest sweetheart and intelligent and real. He's the most real individual out there.. We should all be so honest, modest & true to ourselves.

I like John Lydon he's straight, no fake. He wears his heart on his sleeve. I feel theres no hidden agendas. So what he did some butter ads but sadly we have this system that we work to earn money to live. John Lydon was very defensive and at time angry to the media during the Sex pistols era. He's intelligent and no ones fool, not now or then back in the day. The media was trying to make a mockery of them with condescending sarcastic remarks. For working class kids of the grey mid 70's it woke us up and gave kids something that felt meaningful. It sounds heavy what im saying but the time had been bleak and punk lyrics said something of substance to people, expressing what mattered in their lives, not like the plastic x factor cloned shite of today. Its interesting now listening to him, as only now as he's become less insecure with years, or should i say better at hiding and controlling that nasty emotion as do all of us. We might get to know him. Keep going John you're doing great, you haven't let us down

    • @TrashDeviant

I'm confused. In an interview with Conan, he says something to the effect of "I never promoted anarchy, it was just a gimmick for a song" yet in this interview he says "I've never written a song in it I didn't believe in" and both can't be true. He either believed it or it was a gimmick. I don't think he's shooting as straight as you believe he is. I think he's just charismatic and that's why he gets away with being a contradictory hypocrite with fluctuating moral integrity and a lot of self justification. He made some good music tho.

no one says that every new form of music that comes into business, every fashion, whether it's punk, rock or anything, always follows the Masonic lobby guidelines, which every year turn out new fashions, new groups, to convince the masses to be against the current system ..... then there are the characters like John Lydon, who probably really believe in their art, but in reality they are doing, consciously or not, what Freemasonry wants: to go against every Christian teaching to keep people away from Jesus ... I remind everyone that the Masons hate Jesus and worship Lucifer ... it seems like a fantasy, but it is reality!

Your cult worships a god that raped a sleeping teenager and got her knocked up then watched on as he was tortured to death for the purposes of forgiving something that this same god supposedly designed into us. Honestly, if your god exists, he's the most backwards ass retard I've ever read about. I don't know how someone so short sighted, petty and moronic could create this world. "Oh I'm going to set my creations up for ultimate sin, which being omnipotent, I know how this turns out before I do it. But I'll still punish them for doing what I set up, because I'm an asshole. Oh, but I'll forgive them, after I get this sleeping teenager pregnant so they can brutally murder the offspring. Yep, forgiving my own mistake requires a blood sacrifice. I am a smart god and not at all a total idiot who didn't think this through. Also worship me unquestionably or I'll burn you forever. Because I love you all."
Fuck that god. If he exists, I want to punch him in his stupid face.
I don't know why a god would allow humans to be smarter than him. Therefore, I can only deduce that he does not exist. And if he does exist, we were created as thought slaves to be fucked with, and nothing more. I'd rather the cold indifference of a meaningless and godless existence in a universe that created itself through chance than the mixture of stupidity, malice and contempt that your god offers. Being a Christian is like crushing your own testicles in a vice. You do it because you're insane and you hate yourself. Instead, you should crush your testicles in a vice so you can't breed. Although based on this post, I'd say your chances of breeding are already pretty low. Good thing, too. Your creepy cult needs to end. There's no need for 2000 year old recycled story books to have any bearing on modern society. Especially not when the underlying messages are barbaric and nonsensical. Funny how for a bunch of fake stories, they've caused so much death and suffering. Christianity and Islam are both cancerous to society. They promote violence and are counter-productive to the advancement of society. Maybe we need another holy war so they can all just wipe each other out. Maybe then we can explore space in peace as a whole species.

John's never been totally against capitalism, in fact he's spoken out in favour of free enterprise. His views aren't always what you might expect - he was anti-Nelson Mandela and pro-nuclear power for example. As far as I can make out, he's a political libertarian with very liberal social opinions.

John seems high on something here. Some interviews he's calm and doesn't move around at all, and one's like this, he can't sit still and seems very on edge.

Your words in your song on religion John are an insult to God who is our Heavenly Father, who gives you life in every moment. I must consider all your words as having as much meaning as any other Politician. You are on a huge ego trip, the other side of the coin of U2. I am always suspicious of those who rant and rave against the ruling classes, because mostly they are in their employ. I believe in God our Heavenly Father, I believe in His Son Jesus Christ and I believe in God's Holy Spirit, I believe in love as being the energy that drives, motivates, nurtures, and encourages true and lasting peace.

Who are you to say what this man's words mean, how they appeal to whom? You are delusional and rampant with shining fear. You speak as if your 'revelations,' are not in any way evident to others. You may prattle on, sure, but don't expect favoritism simply because you proclaim some nebulous belief in that which remains unnamed. Do you think there is only the way of Nature (paganism) and the way of Grace (aspiring, appealing to God)? Dichotomies are in great abundance but I don't really see either way providing anything of real worth to the human species. This breath of life you speak of, is thought of differently in other cultures, so perhaps consider the breadth of human thought bleeding over the heads of papal authorities, self-imbued zealots, and all the other rabble that strike out for power and glory while the clock ticks and entropy holds the key. There is an opposite though, so maybe you're onto something in some mistaken way - Growth beyond decay. Who knows? Still, I really do not think you or anyone may adequately judge this person's output - It exists in a particular context and time as well, so there is that to consider. You can't fool everyone with your anachronistic proclamations is all I am pointing out.

I am a newbie to johns work. Surely being an anchor to punk rock surely he got a lot of heat from his fans with his butter commercial as a sell out. Can someone preferably of his era inform me of what the view of the time was. Me personally I find he remarkable individualality irreplaceable and hold no disrespect for the choice of the commercial. besides Im a fan of butter it goes well with so much.

fair enough..but the butter commercial was at least 15 years since Sex Pistols..money does get spent...lol
