My Paul's HM is 20 years old, growing on a cut tree stump [to cover it ]. Growing next to fence, zone 7A: sun facing north, east & west. Gorgeous rose for screening [ it looks like an enormous tree] prune vigorously! But, as said, only blooms briefly.
I have this rose in my garden. I love it. It's on a west facing fence. it smells GLORIOUS even from a distance when it flowers but it only flowers briefly. It does get big but I prune it regularly. I have a large garden so it's okay.
Hi Naffy, Do you read comments posted months after you post your videos? In any case, I'm gardening in the same conditions you are so your videos are very interesting for me. I began gardening just last Fall, in the Autumn of 2022. I am looking, among other things, for a climber. Please update us. I'm assuming you replaced this Himalayan Musk with the New Dawn climber you show in another video, is that the case? How is the New Dawn doing???? Thanks for your videos!
Sorry to hear this naffy. But I have to say I’m relieved because I thought you were gonna say it’s like Japanese knot weed and my house is gonna fall down! :) I’m pretty sure mine will want to go all the way up to the chimney by next year. It is an absolute beast. I’m hoping you didn’t see a video of mine and I wasn’t clear about its growth and bought as a result! What are you gonna go for do you know?
I was actually drawn to the rose by the images and rapidity of growth in my eagerness to cover that wall, sadly that same attribute was its downfall in my small space. I will find a less vigorous thornless rambler 😊.

Lucky you. It's a beautiful rose when it gets the space to shine

Unfortunately I saw your comment a bit late. I removed it because it grows to large for my patio which is barely 3by 3 metres
Od dear! Hope you find a better and adaptable rose
Thank you, I will 😉

@@anorthfacinggarden9045 you absolutely will. Trial and error maybe not the best way to learn but I’m guilty of it many times over.:) best of luck

Oh no this is very sad 😮 crocus describes it as a 3 metre wide rose and 5 metre height - I’ve planted it in a south facing garden- 🤞🏼
So sorry about your rose. Hope the replacement rose would do better
