Took awhile but after 6 or so cycles on Fonix, we pretty much came to the conclusion that it was the better ride over Lech. Yes, lech is definitely more intense, but there’s this near perfect fun factor that Fonix has and if this is what ‘new gen Vekoma’ is all about, I’m here for it. 😎
Glad to hear because lech - while being fun - did disappoint me a bit after all the rave reviews. Excited for fenix hopefully next year
100% agree with you Sloan. To bad we didn't ride it together
I'm glad we all agree here. more intense =/= more fun. also the reason why at Tripsdrill, Hals über Kopf is better than Karacho
It's definitely a 10/10 ride for me. It isn't super intense, that's true, but it's so incredibly fun and has a flawless layout with flawless pacing and flawless smoothness. I can't find a single thing wrong with it
Lessons learned from I305. Make a re-ridable coaster instead of the most intense🙈
Interesting how they took inspiration off Lech Coaster where it's fast paced inversions and RMC like elements but they went more for a fun less forceful approach. As someone who loves intensity and never gets sick on marathoning intense rides, I am not a huge fan with this approach but it's definitely cool how they went with a more graceful but still fun approach for the general public.
I've just managed to ride it for myself today, and IDK if its me just aging, or the pandemic, or both, but I definitely feel like I can't handle intensity as well as I could a few years ago when I went to new theme parks more often and more to theme parks in general, so I'm really glad Fønix isn't overly intense. I rode Piraten at Djurs yesterday and that definitely tested me in parts.
I’m from Denmark and 100.000 Danish krone is like 14.000 USD so you must’ve meant 100 Million (edit: on building supply Denmark it says Fonix cost 100Mil Danish Krone to build)
yeah sorry I forgot a couple zeros lol
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good Taylors cinematic skills have gotten over the years? Those shots would have looked just as good as if they had been taken by a professional.
I think he somewhat is a professional, I think he majored in photogrophy or something
glad you enjoyed them, but I can't take all the credit! A lot of these shots were also done by Sarah. We split up the filming throughout the Europe trip to make sure we had enough footage for everything :)
@@CoasterStudios well you both did an amazing job, congratulations!
Taylor, you are absolutely right. I have never ridden anything from Vekoma, but while that is the case with me, that company has come so far since their first boomerang models. That ride you wrote sure looks pretty darn fun!
Vekoma has just taken over the European part of RMC this is the reason that much of the new Vekoma coasters hat some RMC elements.
I sadly haven't been able to ride Fønix yet, but actually a few days ago it was featured on National TV in a gameshow. In it an experiment happened in which 16 students living near the park had to marathon the coaster and the contestant had to guess how many rides around the circuit the coaster would do before the last kid got off. The final kid went off after 58 consequtive rides! 58!!! If that ain't a testimony to the fun factor and reridability of Fønix then IDK what is.
Can you imagine this buttersmooth thing came from the same factory as those legendary SLC's? 😅
I think fonix as you describe it would be the perfect model to replace old arrow and Vekoma loopers around the United States. I think about demon at great America. I know people love it for it steaming and what not but if it eventually needs to get replaced it could get replaced with another looper that has a more versatile layout that isn’t super intense but still much more smooth and appealing.
The recent few videos have been so great!!
These Wildcat Models Look Very Fun!!!
Waiting for LECH review! ❤️🔥
I have been waiting!
Edit: i very much agree with everything you said, it is a perfect fit for the park. Also the drop is angled at 80 degrees, so that was a brilliant guess!
Are you gonna do updated Europian coaster rankings video? If so that would be another fun video to wait for
Yes, there will be!
@@CoasterStudios I suppose FLY, lech coaster, hyperion, untamed, kondaa, zadra, and ofcourse RTH will almost surely crack top 15, so the list would look super different from 3 years ago.
So smooth
can’t wait for more new gen vekomas to start popping up around america
I mean, I can’t complain. It’s definitely fair to give this 8.5/10.
By the way, after this trip, will there be a top 25 coasters for you Taylor? And Sarah?
yes, there absolutely will be!
That ride looks great, lots of fast twists mixed with airtime hills, my kind of coaster.
Fire how it goes through the station
I haven't ridden this yet but I have ridden Lech; Lech was fun but a little bit too much for me. I think moving forward you'll see more Vekoma coasters in thi style rather than Lech, as in an interview with the European Coaster Club, the head designer from Vekoma said that they didn't intend for Lech to be as intense as it is.
Dorney Park needs a new ride and i think a clone of this would be a perfect fit.
Thank you for adding metric measurements ❤️❤️❤️
The way you described the front vs back difference on the first inversion reminds me of the first loop on Copperhead Strike
Can’t judge the Mosasaurus Roll but Fønix‘ Heartline Roll is really powerful tbh
It is
This is what I think Vallyfair should get something with Airtime and inversions
Cannot wait for your Lech Coaster review.
I can’t wait for the Energylandia vlog to see what Taylor and Sarah think of Zadra!
Looks really cool I've only ridden the roller coasters at WOF and SDC.
Please do a review of Lynet, it’s awesome!
Small detail but surely must have cost 100 mil danish K instead of 100k… otherwise great Vid Taylor!
Yeahhhh I missed a couple zeros😬 never was good with numbers! -Taylor
I want one of these in my backyard, it would actually fit.
This actually looks lit. I wonder how intense the ejector is.
I will ride this tomorrow so exelent timing of the revieuw thanks
Just FYI that 14 Million USD is like 100M Danish Krone, not 100K 😉
yeah sorry I forgot a couple zeros lol
I pretty much agree with what you've said: it's an amazingly fun coaster that you could ride all day with no issues at all! For that reason I prefer it over Lech.
Oh and BTW, apparently the designer for Lech really didn't like how it turned out so we're not likely to ever see another Vekoma like it (which isn't a bad thing as I didn't think it was all that great anyway)
Would this be comparable to something like Copperhead Strike at Carowinds? Minus the launches of course
Petition to put this in the old Vortex land at Kings Island
Does anybody know if the passage through the station is comparable to Lech Coaster?
Been waiting for this one! 🔥
Hi i just went to cp totally agree with you
what do you think is better the lech coaster or fonix?
I rode it like 15+ times when I went to Farup and I 100% Agree with you. Nothing else to add. my fav ride spot is last car on the left, the "RMC" element is just INSANE, was making me fly so hard the vest was locking out LOL.
Convinced this is a top GP coaster, maybe not the best for us fans, but certain is for a GP audience.
Think it's also a better coaster than leech and abysus. Even if Leech have some specific moments that are much better. Even tho I do prefer "rip your face off" coasters !
Only wish the airtimes were more sustained/noticable, a lot of them just felt like a quick floater (even tho they were not!, it's weird).
Glad vekoma finally developed it’s own style rather than copying elements from other manufacturers.
Vekoma invented the cobra roll lol
man should make a coaster parody of this so that mr narrator dude can be in denial
Kings Island needs something like this on vortex plot of land... But taller
No, give it to ValleyFair! instead, we need a major new coaster more than King's Island does. Plus we lack a modern looping coaster.
How were the trains? Padded seats and sides? Did it have knee pads? Enough space for your legs? I despise RMC train, really think they need to redo those. But Vekomas trains look really good.
Feels like it would be even better than Lech. Lech is top notch for pure thrill seekers, Fønix seems top notch for a much wider audience, but still very much include the thrill seekers.
The currency conversion is confusing. Last time I checked, 100.000 kroner is about 13.000 USD.
Did you mean 100 million?
Yes, sorry forgot a couple zeros
Oh we unfortunately won't be seeing the intensity of Lech Coaster on any other new Vekoma's. Engineerings from Vekoma have stated that Lech Coaster runs way faster than they anticipated and even after slowing it down a bit, it still runs *too* fast. New-age Vekoma is trying to be more like B&M than Intamin or RMC I would say.
ive got a feeling that they will repaint this to an orange color scheme because of the name eventually
Sup Taylor how’s life?
If Its 100k danish kr it cant be just under 14 million dollars cause one 7 kr is 1 dollar 1:04
Its drop is 80 degrees :)
Kings dominions next coaster? Please?!
You said 100 thousand Danish krones
100 thousand DKK = 13.353 Dollars.
But very good Video!
Lol. Yeah just missing a few zeros. But he got the point across I guess.
sorry, I missed a couple zeros, lol. I'm bad with numbers haha!
@@CoasterStudios Its cool. Also your pronounciation of Fønix and Fårup is actually quite good. Solid 8/10 and thats impressive. Most people struggle hard with the pronounciation of danish words, especially those with an æ, ø, or å, but you were close to nailing it Taylor.
Have you ridden Colossus at Thorpe Park or any of its clones?
yes!
I've yet to ride it but I'm quite happy for Vekoma not to make rides as balls-to-the-wall insane as Lech. Lech was a bit too much for me! Abyssus was a bit more up my alley.
Same
What a Vekoma that’s actually enjoyable?
You’re late to the party. Vekoma has been building fantastic roller coasters for years. Formula at Energylandia was built all the way back in 2016.
You forgot to put review in the title
It’s literally the second word
This model would be great at Kentucky kingdom
Let's hope that Circuit Breaker is a success, that way we'll definitely see more modern thrilling Vekomas here in the U.S.
Cedar Fair should really start working with Vekoma, rides like this would be AMAZING for the smaller parks that don't get as much love if any at all. I'd kill for one of these at ValleyFair!, I'd absolutely take one of these over a B&M invert. Though any modern Vekoma thrill coaster would do. A Firestorm model would be a great choice as well.
They already have Lightning Run. This is too similar.
How long were you in Europe?
About a month. They visited 25 parks in total across the European continent, starting in Denmark and ending in France. The order they visited can be seen in the trailer for their vlog series "Coastin thru Europe" which they posted a Fårup vlog from less than a week ago.
I'm sorry, but it's actually 100 million kr
Hey I went to highschool with you
What do you want your 1000th coaster to be?
no idea! maybe something in Dubai or Australia? That could be cool. It's impossible to say what it could be until maybe like 10~ coasters away
14 mil US$ would be 103 mil DKK
sorry, I missed a couple zeros when I was doing the conversion
It's pronounced Foonix.
Restraints look bad
Well they are not
