    Wanting there to be a script, ‘when you feel this, do this…’, is exactly me haha! But it feels like it’s part of the same sympathetic energy that is causing so many issues for me. The urgency to fix everything is what drives that need, that desperation to have The Answer. It’s a struggle to let go of that need, but I have more compassion for that part of me.

    Wow!!!! my idiopathic syringomyelia was discovered in 2006 and I am still struggling after surgery and many therapies today. I have since given up driving and working full-time. Earlier on in my career, I was a Director and would shuttle two kids off to school every day like it was nothing. I thought I was an extrovert, but now I find myself forced into an introvert role because of my pain and inability to do things. Darla’s story is very refreshing.

I cannot believe some of the suffering you went through Darla, and to see you rise and heal to the disbelief of doctors is amazing. We truly can defy the odds with determination and gifting ourselves this nervous system work. This conversation was inspiring in that spirit for me - maybe I could defy the odds to my doctors and naturopaths beliefs too 😆 I want nothing more... I'm so happy to hear you talk about how you approach people sharing about their personal experiences and their past in SBSM. I took a course with a different practitioner (someone Irene knows personally) and they took the approach that no one was allowed to share anything about their personal history. This felt really off to me. They said it was for the sake of creating a safe space but it felt like toxic positivity to me. It was almost like they were (subconsciously?) trying to create a sort of manic state in the course.

    • @darlariotto8300

      I totally agree with you. You can heal doing neurosensory lessons without sharing but there is absolutely no censoring when you need to share. There is stellar support from Irene & Seth’s team but also peer to peer. The addition of curated q&a sessions has also been an incredible source of support. Sometimes others questions create an aha moment. Hearing stories you can relate to also helps me at least process the reality that I’m not alone.

      By my story do you mean the physical affects? Energy loss resulting in exhaustion-chronic fatigue, neuropathy- loss of feeling, nerve damage-burning stinging? What part do you best relate to? If you can see a naturopath it could be helpful because they tend to look more for the root problem rather than just mask the symptoms with painkillers. SBSM has been one of my most beneficial resources that has made a big difference for me. I want to encourage you to keep learning, research for yourself stuff about your issues. Talk kindly to yourself, it takes time and energy to heal. And for some of us it takes time to even know what needs to heal.

    Ok. So this is the same for me. With the 21 days. I want to do SBSM but I just can't commit to it. I start and then end up falling off. Struggling with commitment. How to push past this so that eventually I will be able to do SBSM and eventually do your course. I work with a somatic therapist each week and have done for a year now but still the commitment is a struggle. I am so so so much better than I was. And I feel like maybe this is the path for me but then with the resistance it makes me think maybe that's not the path for me? Lol.

    • @darlariotto8300
      @darlariotto8300 5 місяців тому +1

      Honestly, resistance is normal. Change is scary. The beautiful part of SBSM is you can do as much or as little as you want in your timeline. Yes, she has an outline, but you are in control of your process. Titration - allowing your being to adjust to changes is a necessary part of the process. I want to encourage you to consider a different perspective. One perspective that really helps me is to think of how baby learns to walk. I would celebrate the first time it stands up even for a few seconds because I know it’s part of the process of learning and eventually with practice it will walk and run and jump do all the things that a human body is created to do with legs. In nervous system work we are all just babies learning how to use our nervous system. Congratulations on standing even for a few seconds in your nervous system work. You are growing!

    • @darlariotto8300
      @darlariotto8300 5 місяців тому +5

      I’ve done both. SBSM is more in depth. It’s a three month course. But a lifetime membership- as long as the program exists. I’ve been doing it for 7 years now and every time I go through the course another aspect heals. And I learn something new. Irene is always learning and her live presentations she shares as well as Seth her husband and others what is current. This is an evolving process with new information being discovered.

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  5 місяців тому

      Hello @claireaperez2, Sophia here from Team Lyon. Thank you for your question.
      The 21 Day is more of an intro course to Irene's work. Think of it as an appetizer before the main meal if you will. While we have had many people benefit from the 21 Day course, many find that it opens them up to the theory and ideas that you then dive further into with the SmartBody SmartMind (SBSM) program if and when it feels right to you.
      The 21 Day course is a self-study course composed of 9 lessons overall. With SBSM, you get 34 lessons, practices, 5 biology of stress videos, live Q&A calls, live training calls, movement lessons, a supportive area to ask your questions, and lifetime access to all the material, plus access to the 21 Day course.
      SBSM goes into much more detail and you can pause and take it at your own pace if you need to. Also, if you register for the 21 Day course beforehand, you receive $300US off the registration price of SBSM, so you are basically getting the 21 Day course free of charge.
      Also, I'd recommend checking out this vlog Irene did on the difference between the courses;
