Here's The Best Livestock Fencing For Your Little Farm

  • I have strung up lots and lots of livestock fencing for many different kinds of animals and let me tell you it is hard work.
    I have also repaired lots of fencing and that is even a bigger drag.
    Well here is some fencing that is easy to put up, super sturdy and looks good. I love this stuff. Once it is up you can sleep good at night knowing all your animals are right where they should be. Animals are hard on fencing. Just by their nature they push and rub and lean and paw on fencing. When you’re watching that from your window your blood pressure goes up!
    They know they are naughty but they also know you can't get them fast enough. By the time you get out there, they are standing there all innocent like “What,
    did you walk all the way out here just to say hi to me?” It becomes this crazy little game they play.
    Well this fencing can end all that.
    They make horse, cow, hog, and goat. It is a bit more pricey but if you factor in how easy it is to install and how sturdy it is and how much time it will save on repairs and high blood pressure it is worth every penny
    Another nice feature is you can plant flowering vines like Jasmine next to it and it will become a green fence. The weight of the plants won't squish it down over time like other fencing that is flimsy. So it then becomes a nice green privacy fence. It will look beautiful from both sides.
    It all comes in 16 foot panels so you can get a lot of fencing up fast. It also works perfect for smaller animal pens. A 16 by 16 pen looks neat and tidy and can also be used for a garden.

    Hello, these panels can be transported in a pickup. You need two people and extra care strapping them in. Just search transporting cattle panels on you tube. I thought I might need to rent a truck but now I can borrow my brother's pickup and my brother. It is great timing, I have a very old wood panel fence that is falling down section by section. No way I can afford to replace that.I am going to try to save the front/road side sections as long as I can but the area to the back needs to keep in the animals. These feed lot panels can go up as needed and super easy.

    Some great ideas. My daughter and I have been considering the horse panels for fencing. They can be found at Tractor Supply in many areas. And they are much easier to handle if you don't have a lot of help putting up a fence. Regarding using Night Blooming Jasmine as a living privacy fence, that's okay 'if' you don't have livestock that will eat it. You really have to know what is healthy for your animals and what is dangerous. I love NBJ, and have it planted around my bedroom windows and front porch. But my livestock fences have Honeysuckle growing there, or grape vines. I also enjoy Mulberry Bushes/Trees, Weeping Willow Trees, and Confederate Roses, or any Rose. All of these are edible for humans and/or animals. Anyway, thanks for sharing your fencing ideas. We are in that part of Florida where Hurricane Michael did major damage, not just to homes and beaches, but to forests, and farms. We had just put up new fences over a five year period and are having to rebuild. But -- we are only repairing the damaged areas with the live stock panels. For us it's cheaper and easier. Some sections require only one panel, while other sections require two or three panels. We won't have to tear down a whole line of fencing. Of course, we could just 'patch' the damaged areas with wire, but as I said, not having any help, this will be easier for us.

    Blackberries are great for fencing. The bushes can weave in a fence like this or to only keep out humans the bushes can stand alone. But with those thorns no one will get through, it's green and grows fast. (The bees love them Becky.) BTW Becky, one of the greatest testaments to your lifestyle is the changes that we see in YOU. You've lost a lot of weight and dyed your hair fun blond. You're a great example for people to live the life they want.

    You can load them stacked, leaving them hanging out of the pick up truck. Then fold them back on themselves one at a time while tying twine end to end, but you'll need some for help with this, (or if you're talented, by yourself). It takes a little longer but still possible with a pick up truck but do be careful.

      That is sad but the bears don't know what a "pet" is. They just see food. I think a bear can climb over any fence. Electric fence is your best bet. You run the hot wire on the outside of the fence you have now. That should do the trick. ☀️❤️☀️

    Did you get it at a farm store, and/or Lowes? Wouldnt it be wise to put the fence posts on the opposite side so that if anything were to push against it from the inside it would not give? Are the posts 2 foot in the ground, and how far down did you bury the fence, to keep critters out?

    • @BeckysHomestead
      @BeckysHomestead  6 років тому

    • @WheepingWillow2
      @WheepingWillow2 6 років тому

      yes I realize that, but if they were to push against the fence with the post being on the inside of it and the fencing material on the outside, it could possibly get loose is my point , but if on the inside of the post as would be the farm animals, theyd be additionally pushing against the posts themselves, less likely to pull it off the fence, is how I see it. :) tc love your vids.

I have an issue with privacy between me and my neighbor his backyard faces my front (he's on corner lot) and although we both like each other its nice to have that screened so I don't feel like I am intruding when he is out there with his friends. So I am going to use the horse pin panels, painting them green so they blend and don't catch your eye and then I'm planting Jasmine on mine as well. It's a great idea! ty

    We will never buy a place we cannot afford to fence the perimeter immediately again. We've had issues with the local drug users taking stuff. The neighborhood preds (owned dogs allowed to roam and yotes) would get right under/over those panels I'm afraid. Our fence cost $4-4.50/linear foot built by a local guy. It's red top 4' no climb with 4-5" wooden posts pounded. It's beyond expensive, prob $10k by the time we finish, but it keeps everything out and our area is going yuppy so the resale value in 10 years should cover it (we pray).
