I have been on Projector Central for a while trying to figure out my set up for projector - hardest thing to factor is the golfer & a shadow it might cast on screen….Great video Scott!!
That's a big reason I went directly over the hitting area with mine, butg I agree the projector part for me is the biggest challenge. But as always it depends on the screen size and your room size.
Hi, I'm no expert when it comes to projectors, what i did was sit it on the floor, selected 4-3 ratio and keep moving it back until it filled my screen perfectly. my screen is 9ft high 12ft wide, then mounted it straight up from there to the ceiling, easy as that. from there you have settings to fine tune it a little, I'm using ios version of E6 and using the same dongle hdmi cable thingy and using iphone 8 perfect pic that fills my screen perfectly. I guess the key thing to do is, set up your screen in a 4-3 or 16-9 ratio to start with. most projectors do have a couple other funny little ratios you can play with. P.S I;m glad you mentioned hdmi dongle thingy as i have the cheap ebay special and i think its a bit dodgy, I'll be buying the apple one next time. grate video. 👍
I'm looking at a screen with the same dimensions! Curious to know how far back from the screen you ended up mounting it and at what height it sits? Debating getting an enclosure with either a 5' or 10' depth. Thank you! :)
@@derekchang6310 about 3.2m back from th screen,2.8m above hitting mat. my ball is at about 3.7m from the screen, all seems to work well, no interference and doesn't get in the way. but I think it will depend on the throw of the projector you buy
Scott, huge fan of the channel, keep them coming. I’m 70 and my swing has slowed down considerably (75-80mph) as has my flexibility, I was a single figure handicap but now 13, not a bunch of fun getting older!. I bought a Mevo+ after watching your videos but I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the numbers. Let’s say I want to hit my 7 iron 135-140 yards with a slight draw, which numbers should I concentrate on and what margins should I aim for? What I really want to do is set up three or four essential data margins, concentrate on those and see how it effects the other numbers. Any help would be really appreciated or could you point me in the direction of a resource that could help me? I’m in the UK otherwise you may have found me knocking on your door.
I ended up taking longer to choose mine because I didn't want the projector anywhere near me or the ball.. I got mine mounted all the way back over the Mevo+ so there's no intereference (you might want to running a FS environment test) and no chance to hitting it. And it's high enough that there's no shadows while playing. It took a lot of research, planning and tweaking though. Especially when you have a non-optimal screen ratio (10.5x7.5) like I have.. Costco had decent deals so ended up using Epson EX9220.. Cheap and supports wireless features.. btw, for people who don't want to have a dedicated PC in their garage: I used a HDMI/USB-to-Ethernet transceiver pair to connect my garage's projector/keyboard/mouse to my Gaming PC down in the basement. Works great and I can watch youtube/movies/sports/gaming in the garage now as a bonus.
Scott, thanks for a great video, I don't have a projector yet but want to add one and it did'nt seem overly complicated. On another subject as a new user of Mevo Plus, is there any videos that show how you connect to video your swing. I just haven't been able to figure out the steps. Thanks again for the help.
If you go to the video tab (click the 4 boxes in the top right of the FS Golf app). When you go to the video app, hit a shot and it should save a video on the bottom right of the screen. You can click the camera source and change where you are filming from including the Multicam stuff.
I didnt see make and model and specs for the projector.....could you provide? also, you spoke of the Apple dongle that had power connection, but I didnt see it when you were handling. Does it have a separate power chord? and the screen you were using......was it a projector screen or one you made up? Thanks for the info.
Qptoma 1080 HDR projector, screen is from 24/7 Golf (as is projector) and the ipad cord is just the apple dongle they sell, it allows you to connect an HDMI cord and also a power cord so you can charge the ipad while it's plugged into the projector.
Always wondered why you didn’t have a projector.. good job! Your nails look great too, very pretty lol Edit: Realized it was probably your wife.. good job getting her to do some of the labor!
I have an iPad with no cellular. I cannot seem to figure out how to connect it to the Mevo+ and the E6 app at the same time. Since I'm on the Mevo WiFi not the internet WiFi. Can I connect my iPhone to the Mevo and E6, then connect the iPhone to the iPad that will direct connect to the projector? Seems like a lot, but controlling E6 off a phone sucks.
You could do that with your phone, could also try connecting via Bluetooth to your iPhone with your iPad and see if you tether the internet off it via Bluetooth. Then your wifi would still be available for the Mevo+. Could also just play in offline mode on iPad too.
I’m sure this has been asked but is the projector off set to the right of the screen so you can’t hit it during the swing? If so does that change the quality of the picture?
That's where the stud is to hang the mount, the projector has some screen adjust and keystone modes so you can make small adjustments to get things to look good. My projector is a little farther away than I would like but I have students in hitting so I wanted to make sure it was over the hitting area so it doesn't get hit by an errant shot.
I don't think so, unless you could split the connection to two different devices. The other way that might work would be connect the projector with a cable then try to airplay to a tv (roku or apple tv) and see if that works. I'm not sure it will let you airplay and do the projector at the same time.
Hey Scott how far from the screen is your projector mounted, looks about 8-9’, that’s what I am looking for? Being that its a short throw as you mentioned it seems to be set up to be installed closer. Is it because of the zoom feature that allows you to place it further back?
It's directly over the hitting area so right at about 8 ft. I got it from Golf 24/7 bit.ly/3x7YhOt and it's actually designed to be closer if need be and could hang on the enclosure itself. That wasn't what I wanted especially if I'm having students coming in.
Hey Scott. How did you prevent the image from getting too big as you moved the projector back. I was looking into this projector too but wondered with such a short throw ratio whether as I moved it back I would not be able to keep the image small enough to fit my hitting screen. Is there a feature within the projector that allows you to zoom the image so it does not get too big? How big is your screen too? Just trying to compare to see whether it might work for me too.
@@stuartashdown7065 Hi Stuart! There is a zoom function and also a keystoning feature on the projector. So you can shrink or zoom the image size. It makes it look pretty good, for me I think it looks pretty well. I have all the lights on in the studio during these videos so it might look a little lighter, but if I turn the studio lights off and just have the regular lights on it looks very clear. My projector is 8.5 feet from the screen right over the hitting area so it doesn't get hit by a ball and the screen is 8'6" high and right at 10 feet wide.
The stuff I've been seeing on the internet hasn't been consistent what I've heard that's for sure, although there are some things that are concerning, and I don't blame FS for investigating them before going forward. I'm hoping it happens because it looks cool, but I know we have to wait for them to finish their work at it.
@@scotthogangolf Hi Scott you seem to keep your finger on the pulse with FS, do you think GSPRo is likely to happen in the near future or never at all, its hard trying to find out any information here in Australia.

The 1080HDR is such a good value too. Us Mevo+ users love our value 😉

Smash factor and club head speed anywhere in the 70s will be fine for that yardage (aim for 1.4 at best )
