    UPDATE: Due to a recent overhaul in how DevMountain will be running the iOS program, I can no longer recommend the program until I get a sense of how the first few cohorts go.
    From what I understand, all instruction will now be recorded videos and the first half of the program will be combined with students from non iOS courses and won't cover any iOS specific skills until the second half of the program.

      Hi Dave! Thank you for this review! do you have any updates about DevMountain's overhauled iOS course? I'm considering applying to this bootcamp, but also not sure whether I will gain something new and more helpful, than from the on-line courses that I'm doing now (Angela You, Paul Hudson). TIA!

      @@marinabasaeva6177 I've heard from a couple people that they still got.a lot out of the program. Since there are so few options for iOS bootcamps these days, it could still be helpful over self teaching with courses, if you have the time and money. But at the end of the day, it really comes down to what anyone puts into it!

    First video with my new mic so the sound will be better than my iPhone audio from here on out!

    Nice, I'm thinking about it for sure, just to grow my skills, even more, thanks for the video.

      @@DaveJacobseniOS Well, here's that, what do you think of taking it online, is it worth it, or just aim for in a person bootcamp?

    • @DaveJacobseniOS
      @DaveJacobseniOS  3 роки тому

      @@AtomLabX My quick take is that if someone is able to do one in person, I think there are some advantages of that, however many are not currently offering in person so online is still a great option right now or for anyone who logistically or financially make an in person bootcamp work.
      And for anyone looking for iOS, DevMountain was the only bootcamp in the US offering an in person program. I think it's all remote now but with plans to offer in person when things are open again.

    Great review, this was really helpful as I a have been doing a lot of research on DevMountain and their BootCamps. Did you attend in person or were you remote? I am nervous to take the BootCamp remote as I really want to feel included in the program and have the opportunity to network with others that have similar goals as I do.

    • @DaveJacobseniOS
      @DaveJacobseniOS  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I attended in person for the start and then it turned remote because that's when covid hit. The remote learning environment was still actually pretty solid but a lot of it whether in person or remote is just about what you are willing to put into it. Although they have changed their course structure pretty significantly now and reviews and stuff haven't come out yet.

    Interesting to watch this video. I honestly think I would prefer the structure you mentioned compared to what I went through. I agree though, outcomes really need to chill on how easy it is to get a job. I think iOS is one of the few dev skills that really makes sense to take a bootcamp since it’s a little more niched down vs web development.

    • @DaveJacobseniOS
      @DaveJacobseniOS  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah totally agree about how it's niched down but what is strange is that there are so few options out there vs web dev. I get that there are more web dev jobs available but it's surprising that so many top places weren't able to make it work.

      @@DaveJacobseniOS Yeah I an surprised. General Assembly had it up for the longest time before I took bootcamp, but it always said no classes offered at the time. They silently removed it not too long ago though.

    Big mic improvement! For me, outcomes is def the weakest part of the school, and its not because they dont do enough, they add value by helping with resume and linkedIn. But I think the leadership in outcomes is weak. However, outside of outcomes, I love the staff who teach the curriculum and I think the structure and curriculum is great. Also wanted to mention I think the housing DevMountain offers is really helpful and the team who helps students with housing is top notch.

    • @DaveJacobseniOS

      Absolutely, the housing is fantastic! Thought about touching on that but decided to cut it for time.

    Hello Dave Jacobsen, thank you for reviewing a DevMontain bootCamp, I am a junior frontend but not have many experience.
    I wonder to join Bootcamp but kind like compare both bootCamp with DevMountain vs CodeSmith.
    I don't know which will be good to join.
    I am interested to job a fullStack development program to gain my skill.

    Sounds like a great bootcamp, but what about the content? May i ask which specific things they did teach?

    • @DaveJacobseniOS
      @DaveJacobseniOS  3 роки тому

      Most of the fundamentals. Navigation, persistence, networking, some objective-C, some computer science, and other relevant stuff.

    I've seen mixed reviews for DevM. Makes me nervous for the course I've signed up for

    • @DaveJacobseniOS
      @DaveJacobseniOS  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah, pretty much all boot camps will have mixed reviews. I will say the program was very good when I went but I know now they redid everything and only 8 weeks(half of the time) is focused on iOS which seems like a step back to me.

      @@DaveJacobseniOS 100% agree. Thank you for your review. It's such a slap in the face to change the program like that especially for ADHD students

    im thinking about doing it. But im afraid im not going to be smart enough to figure things out. So my question is, is it dumby safe? Can you start from knowing nothing to finish?

    • @DaveJacobseniOS
      @DaveJacobseniOS  2 роки тому

      Yes I think so. That said, there are no shortcuts. But from my point of view, persistence and sticking with it is a much higher indicator of success than your starting intelligence.

    Dev mountain is up the road from me and thinking about it. I know nothing about iOS or even coding. Is it worth it or a waste?

    • @DaveJacobseniOS

      For my personal situation it was 100% worth it. But everyone’s situation and motivations are different and so it’s not right for everyone.
