I hope the pirates give him reasons to stay for his whole career!
I know they (ATL) can take 3 outta 4 form the Giants..which they did... we're going to playoffs, currently trail philly by 6 and have 6 left to play against Philly, y'all should know, this is not far fetched. Go Braves⚾🔥
Chris here - I'm just trying to lower my expectations. and my hopes
@@SpitballinCards no Chris, dontttt, just kidding, me too, yet I still watch like each game now is a game 7...yes my doctor suggested this doesn't help my blood pressure, but being a UGA grad and fan and my doc a grad of Clemson, I have to take his advice with a grain of salt...lol...just playing obviously....kinda..lmao
@@Jackson09 🤣🤣🤣
Are there examples of a player of Julio’s pedigree who dominated and then had a horrible year before a rebound?
Chris here - Take a look at Bryce Harper. He's been so inconsistent throughout his career. Some MVP season and plenty of meh seasons.
Lots of guys have down years. Julio is yougn and this is already his THIRD season!
Very true. Thanks
I got him in my fantasy as well...
I hope its a keeper!
I was just about to mention Kerry Wood! Then Tpot said it. I purchased some Kerry wood rookies back in the day. Obviously no good! Be careful with Skeens
Chris here - I still have my 97 Bowmans Best Kerry Wood rookie. A nice reminder of one of the greatest games every pitched.
Jackson Merrill to steal the ROY from skenes and make a playoff run.
He has been coming on strong!!! Going to be a very close race
I swear every time you all talk about Elly or bring him up in convo it's surrounded by hate but the dude keeps ascending. 5 WAR and right behind Shohei...yet you say lay off. He's 22 and has all the makings of an absolute super star. He will continue to improve. Couldn't disagree more with your take.
Chris here - He has seemingly limitless talent. I've been watching his series 1 SSP on ebay. Love that image. He's got to harness it all - get the errors and K's under control But like you said, he's only 22. Plenty of time to improve!
Jeff here: I think he's the most exciting player in baseball! But I also think his card prices reflect that, and are pretty high considering how many RCs he has out there -- and, in my collecting, I'm more and more risk-averse. Give me the Hall of Fame track player. So, my take is "be careful" and that I'm not buying. But, if you love him, I totally get wanting to collect him!
Full season, has he pitched a full game? lol I know I know. But still. It’s an interesting thought.
We're all older and wiser, the Skenes cards will come down, albeit will take a little bit...
THere will definitely be a better buying time in the future!
I'm still waiting on my 89 score John Smoltz RC to hit $5,000...it's getting there...lmao...thanks for the replies.
A+ thumbnail
Thank you!! I Passed this along to our thumbnail artist!
GEAUX TIGERS!
Kerry Carpenter is back! What happened to Torkelson???
Buy now, sell soon; before that first Tommy John surgery. Hes going to blow his arm out within a year, two tops. He throws as absolutely hard as he can and his arm wont take it. Ligaments arent made for it. ⚾ 👌
This is the fear we all feel watching him.
Skenes is Clemens 2.0
Huge comp! WE shall see!
@@SpitballinCards haha i know. I don't think he will. I was just saying he reminds me more stylistically, body type, and throwing motion
Sell. He is higher $ than many amazing pitchers already.
Hype is a great time to sell!
Jeff here: Agree! What would he have to do to have close to the career of a lot of those guys??
Best kid since Gooden.
Gooden.
Does not have the same risks....he comes with different risks.
Hope he wins 500 games and Ks 4000, but the way pitchers have been used since their T-ball days makes me very skeptical of any pitcher's longevity...like DeGrom.
Skenes is probably the closest to Gooden we've seen. Just incredible. 1984-85 Gooden was unreal. Those 84 update rookies were like diamonds in NJ in the late 1980's
Chris sale and everybody else for cy young
I love hearing this! healthy Chris Sale is so fun to watch!
He looks rejuvenated!
Give me the high number heritage auto in black
Chris here - just hoping for a good image! love that 75 design
Pitchers never hold value....
Chris here - its unusual if the do.
If you dont pitch at least 150 innings...you CANNOT win a cy young..
Innings for winners are getting lower and lower, but I tend to agree with you here, they just CAN'T give it to someone that throws that few innings.
Chris here - agreed.
I don’t buy. I am in japan and I only pay cash for cards so difficult to get his cards and I have not found hobby boxes this year
No hobby boxes?! that's too bad. Although at the current prices, you aren't missing anything.
No Skenes autos in 2024 Bowman Chrome.
That's disappointing. He has an image variation at least. I wonder if he'll be one of the mystery autos in Finest.
@SpitballinCards I think update is going to be insane. I figured they would be putting his autos in everything going forward.
No to Paul Skenes. Two words: Stephen Strasburg!
Yep! Huge warning sign!
Strasberg debut was planned……he came out against the worst pirates team in a while. Strasburg was a great player, but his debut was well orchestrated. Don’t be fooled.
Thats what teams should do!
Strassburg
yep
The thumbnail for the video is disturbing
another banger video. I always enjoy the conversation. i posted a video about cutting psa slabs if yall wanted to check it out that would be awesome
Chris here - Jeff and I will check it out!
@SpitballinCards awesome. i used a band saw, chop saw, table saw, saws all, multitool, hacksaw and the router.
I honestly don't get the hype. only 2 pitchers have ever been cards worth buying (nolan Ryan and sandy koufax)... they hold no value. a michael kopech 1 of 1 rookie auto printing plate psa 10 is like 100$... he's a great pitcher. nobody cares. skenes cards will tank
Pitchers generally have less hobby value than hitters. but I think it's more than Ryan and Koufax!
No, in 10 years nobody will remember him.
no dont buy his cards dude. he hasent pitched an entire season yet. Hes overrated, and gets rocked and they pull him out before scores are on the board.
No no no no no
