One thing to remember when comparing this product to other first class or business class product is that this is considered a domestic flight so comparing it to other international business class amenities doesn't make sense. The comparison should be to other domestic first/business class products. If you think of it in those terms the product offering is actually quite good in comparison to others. We've flown Hawaiian from HNL-PHX and back many times and its always great. We recently had to fly HNL to LAX on United because our Hawaiian flight got cancelled and nowhere near the same experience.
Fun fact: if you’re sitting in the “couples seats” in the middle of the 1-2-1 configuration, the middle divider can be put up by one person, but to lower the divider, both individuals have to press the down arrow simultaneously otherwise the divider is stuck in the “up” position if only one person tries to lower it. Need consensus to lower the privacy divider 😅
9:59 and 10:02, Alaska and Southwest from California to Hawaii return because it's the cheapest option and on Alaska, they give you free glass of water, which is good on a medium haul flight to Hawaii.
I booked this flight on the LAX to HNL route and then HNL to PHX route w/Virgin Atlantic points (you have to do Virgin bookings over the phone). Like you guys did, I found the wireless charger to be buggy and the Hawaiian lounge to be the saddest lounge I've visited. We just went to the terminal gate. Overall, the hard product is probably the best you can fly in from the continental US to Hawaii. However, I think the soft product in terms of the food offerings was somewhat lacking. FYI, my understanding is that the stars on the ceiling correspond to the actual constellations the Polynesians used to navigate between the Pacific islands.
Great video and nice editing! Good review of the new Hawaiian 787 First class. Very different from the Airbus A330 first class. Great job on the video!👍
Thank you for sharing your Dreamliner experience. I usually fly United or Delta to the mainland and Hawaiian to the islands. Many of HAL flights to the mainland arrive either really early in the morning or late night. 😊🌺
@MandyRoams 80K. But I had 500K. So far I've booked about $10K worth flights and three nights at hotels on points and only about $1600 in added cash. All business and first, of course. That's Tokyo to Texas/Arizona and back through Hawaii. Except for the last leg, HNL to Tokyo. Still hunting.
✈️ I almost always fly Hawaiian! Bay Area native & part native Hawaiian, there’s no other way. The only time I flew anything else was on southwest last October because Hawaiian cancelled one of the connecting flights to Japan, and it messed up my schedule, so I had to cancel the entire Hawaiian reservation and use southwest points. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t the same, that’s for sure. Thanks for posting! All the food looked so ‘ono! (Delicious)
Nice to see Hawaiian airlines are getting new planes! The Dreamliner is wonderful! If you got addicted to The Honolulu Cookie Company macadamia cookies..easy to do..they have a store in Vegas! 🤙
Google Flights or the sites are pretty good here, since all the new aircrafts are the Dreamliner. Other times, you need to sometimes "count" how many seats there are in business (i.e., Air France new product has 12 rows in business, otherwise it's old product).
With a First Class Ticket you have access the the Plumeria Lounge automatically. You just needed to show them the boarding pass. That lounge is better it has food, beer and wine. I live here and fly from that lounge monthly 🤙🏽
Any clue if this is a new change? Maybe too many people flying to LAX/SFO haha "Who has access to The Plumeria Lounge? First Class guest departing Honolulu to New York or Boston." www.hawaiianairlines.com/our-services/products-and-programs/lounges/the-plumeria-lounge
@@MandyRoams ah that it possibly the difference. I do go to LA a lot but my company is in MA so I’m normally heading to BOS. That makes sense. Also I’m Pualani Platinum 😇. You didn’t miss much in the Plumeria lounge, they don’t really have much to offer (cheese, fruits, sometimes finger sandwiches, a few beer and wine choices). Having to choose Hawaiian air as my primary airline they are very overrated and ridiculous in price. I hope you had a safe trip.
Is it currently available? I thought it was grounded after the Boeing mishaps. I looked awhile back leaving out of LAX but I didn't see a flight using the dreamliner.
✈️ I liked the Hawaiian 787 Dreamliner first class product. I haven’t tried it but would look for it when I make travel plans to Hawaii. I wonder what will happen if Alaska gets approved to buy HA, because Alaska is only a transfer partner with Bilt right now, I think. Do you know if HA will be rebranded as Alaska or maintained as HA?
@@MandyRoamsrealistically if you’re traveling during peak travel season, with a family of 4, the miles redemption is closer to 400k to 650k miles for these suites.
I wish Hawaiian offers better lounge especially for international business class passengers. I flew to Korea on business last May and the lounge was very overwhelming. I think I wouldn’t fly with Hawaiian on business class again since the things you get from the flight doesn’t match the cost. I would rather pay Korean air or Japanairline/ANA when flying to Asia.
I suppose it's a big deal....for Hawaiian. But I just took a safari trip to Africa on Kenya Airways. Guess what their fleet is made of? Yup, Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Yeah OK, I did not earn any Hawaiian miles, but they did feed us 3 times!
Will work on it next time :) First time in Hawaii and didn't want to bother the flight attendants and ask them for every pronunciations, every time I wasn't 100% sure.
✈️🛫🛬🛩️🌎 it looks nice. I took a gamble on earning Hawaiian miles by getting both their personal and business credit card this year, hoping they become Alaska miles. Are you guys coming to New Orleans for the creator meetup?

Nice! I think if Hawaiian took some inspiration from the JetBlue Mint menu, it'd come pretty close to the best domestic first class product.

Does Chase points transfer to JetBlue too? Is it instantly transfer?
One more question how much JetBlue points did you use to book the flight pls?
✈ I'm biased because I actually helped design the seat, but I got to fly it myself as a passenger from SFO-HNL in May and it was great!
Amazing! Great job! Love the design. Wish they didn't discontinue it on the SFO route. Had to fly to PHX to catch it 😆

how many jetblue points did you use and how much was the fees? I can't find that info from your link lol 😂
You can find it for 50-60k points one-way from LAX or PHX. Taxes & fees were only $5.60!
I want get on this flight soooo bad! Awesome video Mandy. I thought I can transfer MR points to Hawiian straight? no?

Adhesive onto a magsafe phone case ;)
(but yeah, magsafe doesn't actually work when it's on lol, which is annoying)
Transferring AmEx points is better with JetBlue than directly with Hawaiian?
You can transfer Amex directly to Hawaiian. We just had a stash of 100k JetBlue points to use.
@@MandyRoams How many miles for first class from HNL-PHX?
60k + $5.60 via JetBlue from PHX. Saw some from LAX for 50k, but couldn't find availability on the dates we needed.

4:16 for how we booked. Retail can be $900 to $1,800 one-way.

Yep, Hawaiian is definitely a step below. Not bad for US domestic airline, but hard to compete globally.

🤠
there is no first class flights it all bussiness same service
5:22 It's branded and marketed as a domestic first class. I guess you can debate classification (int'l F vs. domestic F).
Nice video, but you mispronounced EVERY Hawaiian word you tried to use. This is something that steals some credibility from an otherwise great review.
