    I'm curious why you'd go with a Tenka instead of a Unity. Isn't it a budget ESC that can't handle the current a Unity could? Also, I'd consider offering a different remote than the VX1. I've been through 3, all suffered from drop outs and dead receivers. There's been a mildly growing pool of disconnect and failure reports on that remote, which is likely why LaCroix is moving away from them and I don't find many builders recommending them anymore.

    Much better revisions done to the board. Still something that needs to done for safety reasons if it wasnt already is adding a 15 amp fuse to the charge port so if anything goes wrong while charging the board doesnt go on fire in someones house. This is known within the esk8 community and just pev community in general that you always fuse your charge ports so that way if anything goes wrong the fuse will prevent any further damage to the product aside from the charge port being fried. Also good idea just goin with a 12s vesc over a 16s vesc because having a higher voltage vesc on a lower voltage setup creates more ohm resistance and takes more power to use said vesc so it was a much better decision to do 12s battery with 12s vesc rather then 16s vesc with 12s battery all components should always be running on the same voltage to make range, performance, acceleration, heat build up etc consistent. Glad to see someone actually used good, quality, legit components in their board for the most part rather then making some cheapo china board and slapping a different brand name on it. Using eboosted enclosures is a excellent example of this they make great enclosures and tons of ppl typically buy enclosures for their board builds from them.
    And also for anyone wondering a 12s4p of p42as is 846wh full pack charge with 180amps of continuous discharge so if the motors can handle 80amps each which they cant cause its only dual 2k watt cans so they can only do 60amps per motor for full power u can pull 160amps and still have 20amps to play around with. So i perfect upgrade for this board would be to get dual 170 to 200kv motors thats 3000 or 4000watts at around 80amps max on 12s to toss on this board to get a much higher top speed as well as better torque and acceleration. The 140kv motors are good for most average riders since most of you not looking for racing boards but for those who are looking to squeeze some more power from the p42a pack gettin 170kv to 200kv would be a huge setup.
    Also another i want to mention there seems to be a very dumb, misinformed misconception that motor can "SIZE" translates to how strong the motor is and that isnt true at all, u can easily find a 200kv or higher 6350 and 6360series motors from maytech or aps motors. The "SIZE" of any motor only affects the heat dissipation of said motor I.E smaller motor cans will typically heat up faster based on board weight, rider weight, outside temperature and how hard your accelerating while riding. The motor can size does not dictate the motors rated voltage, amperage or wattage output. ONLY TEMPERATURE, but generally speaking most people only need for 2wd board a motor can SIZE of 6350 to 6370 series to handle everyday riding. Being as though 2wd requires more power to move a rider and board in comparison to 4wd,so you would need a decently sized motor like 6350 to 6370 series to be large enough to have enough surface area to dissipate heat while riding. While 4wd users could use 6360 series cans or 50 if they feel so inclined and have very cool motors even under hard acceleration because of the much better power to weight ratio with having 4 motors instead of 2. Having said that very large motors like 6370 to 63100 is very overkill because most people wouldnt ride the motors hard enough or long enough or even set the motors amps to near max power to even get the temps high enough on them to validate using such a large can size, so your just adding extra dead weight to your board. So dont believe that motor can size translates to oh the bigger the motor the more power it has because that is completely wrong, all motor can size dictates is how much surface area a can has to dissipate hest while riding.

  • @DinnyeYT
    @DinnyeYT 3 роки тому +2

    Hey, really nice board especially for the price, but I catched a few errors on your website you might want to fix and I also have a few technical thoughts about some of the parts used for the board. This one is very long comment, but it's worth reading until the end. Chris, if you are the one reading this please show this comment to Ricky.
    The 7A charger costs 70 pounds separately (reasonable price), but while selecting the fast charger on any board's page it costs 150 pounds extra (not that reasonable price, considering the wate and yzpower charger prices on ali).
    The description says that the remote has a screen (so should be VX2 but remote name is not said) while in the video you showcase the VX1 and the VX1 is up on the site on a picture too. In my honest opinion though, the VX1 is an upgrade over the VX2, especially if reliability is a concern.
    There's this row in the battery section: "● Total discharge rate of our battery packs is 120AH constant discharge. " It should be 120A not 120Ah and not 120AH either. This is not a big thing, but could easily be fixed to look more professional in tech savvy guys' eyes.
    I am not quite sure the Focbox tenka is an upgrade over the Spintend, we don't know where Jason cheaped out compared to the Unity which is 100$ more. The spintend's problem was some missing insulation which only caused a problem in handful of cases. They went ahead and fixed the problem before it could cause more harm, admitting their error - this a move that I appreciate seeing from a company. Fixing the error is only adding a piece of foam inside the ESC, which is yes, labor intensive, but all recently shipped Spintends have this foam factory applied, solving the problem. The spintend ESC also has more features (like lights and stuff) and is a really good value ESC as far as upgradeability is concerned. (Which, upgradeability, is probably the best point in your board for me.)
    One more thing about the focbox - if the Tenka uses the same antispark circuitry as the regular Unity does - you might be in trouble soon. I don't know whether it actually does, but I doubt it's changed. The antispark switch circuitry (AS) is not reliable in the focbox. This is fixed in the BKB Xenith V2. The reason why the DIY community doesn't care as much about the unreliability of the AS, is that many use XT90S loopkeys anyway, and if the antispark goes out, it's easy to solder onto the PCB to bypass it incase it fails open (meaning no connection / always off). Fixing an always open switch on a Tenka... All I can say is good luck. Again, we don't know whether it will happen with the same frequency as it did with Unitys... But it certainly is a risk to factor into the equation. Also, most DIY boards usually doesn't have the same level of polish and user friendlyness as a production one, or at least the user is more forgiving to problems. To fix the AS that failed closed you need a separate AS switch (or loopkey). Loopkey is out of the question for obvious reasons on a polished looking production board. The most reliable and still somewhat affordable antispark switch that I know is the Flispky "Enhanced 200A" one. Don't get any other AS switch from flipsky. Well, a separate AS switch would also need more space and maybe labor to change out the connectors it has. Also not sure if the diameter of the button is the same. So all in all - a problematic AS switch inside the ESC doesn't set you up for a good start. The spintend's switch seems reliable and I haven't heard any problems with it's switch... But many people that use it (DIY guys) are also more forgiving to errors, so just because I haven't heard of problems doesn't necessarily mean that it's dead reliable either. Though Kaly is also planning to use a new (custom I think) version of the spintend for their XLR, so that probably means the spintends are very good at reliability all things considered.
    The charge port - I see you are using the GX16 connector or something similar. I haven't been deliberately trying this out, but just be 100% sure it's impossible to plug the charger in the wrong way. This two pin plug looks like it might be possible to plug the charger in with the wrong polarity, which best case should only make the chargers fuse blow, worse case might cause even more trouble. A 3 pin connector might be preferred by some - I like the XLR port more, but the GX16 also has a 3 pin option. Just leave one pin empty, if you need to go with a 3 pin one in the end.
    The motors are really good, but I think offering some different tooth count motor pulleys would be a nice option (for both the DIY community and the people wanting to tweak their M5s). It's a bit hard to find pulleys for 10mm D shaft, and for switching the gear ratio changing the motor pulley can be a valid option too (which I actually prefer over changing wheel pulleys).
    The battery and the enclosure are perfect, the deck concave looks very interesting and probably feels just as good. When I first looked at the preproduction board, not gonna lie I was a bit disappoined when I looked at the battery pack using 30Q cells. Eboardsperu / eboosted enclosures are also next level quality, can't go wrong with them.
    I think offering an RKP truck option with CNC trucks for the board might be a good idea too for the speed demons or just people who prefer a more stable ride. Something like Boardnamics 220 trucks are a good idea for that. If you were to consider this option you can contact boardnamics, I think he would happily agree, or you can talk to nexusboards too, he's in the UK. If you were to consider this, you could probably also release this edition with (either basic or optional) upgraded 6374 motors (same generation from flipsky preferably). Dual 6374 is definitely too sketchy on DKP, but on RKP it's a lot more accessible to people without you having the fear of them killing themselves. :P This could also give you an opportunity to offer a higher speed gearing without sacrifizing torque. On RKP, higher speeds are a lot more achieveable than on DKP.
    And one last thing, how many UART ports are empty as standard? Do you connect the VX1 via PPM? Does the board have Bluetooth by default? Having free UART ports could mean you could offer the Davega X display as an upgrade (and maybe also consider selling
    it separately for DIY guys in the UK if the guy behind the davega agrees). I think this could be a great selling point / extra for your board. Also having bluetooth is really nice feature that I just wouldn't not want to have in my board. Having the option to change settings on the fly or monitor the board's performance in a tracker app would be a really nice option for the more tech savvy guys. I really think you would benefit if you were to sell the board with an optional bluetooth module and an optional Davega.
    Hope you got to the end of this really long comment, and I hope I could share you some good information / ideas to consider. Your product is a great option as is, and I hope you succeed!

      Cheers for the comment dude lots of very good information in here 👍🏼 I agree the Spintend is a good motor controller we had issues where if you had more than one Spintend together sometimes they would connect to each other etc also is not the most user friendly controller on the market, our board is for someone that’s either new to the whole Diy side of things or someone that’s wants a board with abit of power, it’s designed to be as user friendly as possible 👍🏼 we still need to update the site with new photos and change a few options that we have on there to bring it up to date, the charge port will only go in there one way and also has an indicator on there that has to be lined up in order for the charger to be plugged in, and yes vx1 is being used as it’s a solid Remote we are alway looking to add more options and new components to the site in order to give people the best possible experience, again thanks for the comment really appreciate it 👍🏼 all the best
