Please tell me that you realize the magnificence of this. It's not simply super-talented, not simply super-innovative, it's beyond perfection. It's divine!
it's like the Charles Mingus of drums - to be able to do what you think instantly. And if your splash falls off your tom, a new door opens. Really admire this artist.
As a beginner drummer mark represents freedom to me , I learn from listening and watching UA-cam and can often get lost in the rabbit hole of UA-cam teachers who either say do this and like this or just plain you should get a teacher instead of listening to me, but mark is something different, he is more into that teaching I like but maybe doesn’t dare to like because I feel I’m doing something wrong and that’s the vision that you just need to bang on stuff and experiment around on the kit and you learn on the way, I’m not great but I agree with that, I think a combination of that and really listening to songs closely have teached me a lot of the things I know on the kit now, a great way to teach drumming, just improvise
B4 Bowie died he had him on Black Star , listen to that playing it's pure Guillina. They guy is in another area like JoJo but it's like his computer has glitches and is always correcting. The guy is one of a kind. I would live to see JoJo Mayer, this man and Gershon Eisenhauer, play together. It probably create some sort time distortion....
For all those who may think he's slightly off beat, he's not. He's actually switching tempos while maintaining a steady rhythmic pattern throughout those rapid changes. Mark is a fucking drumming machine with feel and dynamics that are sometimes incomprehensible to the untrained ear and closed mind..There's a reason why one of popular music's most important and significant legends of the last 5 decades, (David Bowie a.k.a - The Thin White Duke) got Mark to be the drummer on his final musical master piece, Black Star..Go listen to that album and go and listen to what a human drum machine sounds like..
You can’t tell me he likes his bassdrum sound himself, guy is very gifted but with such gift making your set sound like a bunch of ikea boxes and playing this weird ass solo i will never understand. This aint drumming this is something that should be a the Moma in New York for all ‘experts’ so say how incredibly good this is
Ofcourse its just an opinion of a semi pro nobody knows, i really do respect his technique and talent, but for me this kind of playing is just trying to find the weirdest beats instead of music, so lets reframe my initial statement, its drumming but it aint playing music:)
So good to see drummers exploring rhythm again. It’s been a long time
They've always been there, but it is fantastic regardless!

One of the few willing to make mistakes - that's why he's one of the best.
I’m certain the MG values mistakes because they lead to new directions
AdamW_Parker there are no mistakes, only happy accidents

What a performance! So incredibly musical.

You know when someone is breaking down doors when many of the comments are negative and lots of people just don't get it.
The glasses adjustment at 2:30 is part of every spectacle wearing drummers chops

el estilo de Mark es muy abstracto,a veces me cuesta entenderlo
he needs dave weckl to fix his bass drum (kick) sound and maybe then i'll like this stuff
Secondo me può accompagnare solo...
Que porcaria é essa veiw
it seems like he want to tell us something

Koen Olsman it’s definitely drumming, I’m not a gigantic fan but he’s pretty creative
I'm curious: what is drumming then?
Ofcourse its just an opinion of a semi pro nobody knows, i really do respect his technique and talent, but for me this kind of playing is just trying to find the weirdest beats instead of music, so lets reframe my initial statement, its drumming but it aint playing music:)
@@koenolsman oh...what is music then?
Something people can get moved by or dance to, this aint either
Meh
Id rather hear Stewart Copeland hit one flam on his snare
I would suggest you listen to that then. It hurt me when I slammed my hand in a car door I quit that so I know
Okay good for you! Just because you aren’t smart enough to understand mark doesn’t mean that the rest of aren’t!
