I was there. Picture this: you're a 52-year-old 1.0er a couple people behind rail dead center in an arena full of people pumped to be at a show. You're watching Mike Gordon as the band kicks into CDT. They hit the chorus, and you throw your fists in the air and scream, "Can I live while I'm young?!" at the right time...and CK doesn't change the lights at all, and nobody else around but the friend you came with sings it with you. It was one of the most surreal moments I've experienced at a concert, and I'm a 52-year-old 1.0er...
Giving the lead to CT, a hardcore phan. “Take it back to 1998” is likely a reference to Phish teasing Mirror In Bathroom during a legendary show at Worcester MA. So cool.
CT absolutely KILLS it!! This rendition rips! Thanks for posting and recording this, this is what space smells like right here for all you VW fans liking what you hear! Maybe Trey will pick up those horn stabs during the song, that’s pretty cool.
Good capture Garntd, thanks for sharing so soon after. Interesting sandwich and sit-in. Not too bad for the most part. I see you have a lot of audience-shot concert videos on this channel. Subscribed and starting to dig through your back catalog. GOLD
Honestly some of the best VW lyrics to date. Looks like The Bassist is doing his best not to be a fish out of water during this new tune and navigate through it but it's soo weird and spontaneous which are clearly unknown playing styles for him plus the song literally contains zero quadrophonic topplings (which is a skosh below optimal thumping conditions, even for a succulent, according to Men's Health Magazine)
Went to this show. Know of Phish but not familiar. This will totally send me down a rabbit hole. Also, CT crushed the guitar. No offense to Ezra, but this had me thinking TC may be the best guitarist in VW.
This is pretty terrible. No punch at all. OK just got to the Mirror in Bathroom segue. Much better. Love that the crowd has absolutely no idea what any of this is
Troy Pistachio himself would be rolling over in bed after hearing this audacious yet conspicuous rendition of an old school classic Ted Nugent riff played over afro beat polysynthonic new wave A.I. beatbotbeat
The lack of reaction when the chalkdust riff starts is extremely jarring
How many Phish fans do you really think are in that audience?

Their fans are custy af lol

What's the matter!? Not enough nosie? 😂
Who else had Vampire Weekend becoming a Tier 4 jamband on their 2024 bingo card?

11/27/98 one of the best shows I ever saw. out of quite a few haha.
2nd that. The Wipeout show. That was peak Phish. @@blotter1402
That was no tease brah
Was more than a tease 😁 my 2nd show
@@Michaelmrcrit was my third or fourth, likewise! Wipeout was so fun. Cheers.
These fans are so confused
They have no idea what the hell is going on.
Haha.. totally. Near silence during the intro guitar.
They should’ve followed up with the Argus by ween
They really would’ve been confused
Hey look, a saxophone in a band.
This is Vampire Weekend! This is the edge!
Underrated comment
CT is such a Phish nerd and I love it. Thanks for posting.

Also need to add thanks to Mike for being open to sharing the arsenal and jamming hard with these guys. Deserved. Torch passing lore continues
The sax on this was great!!! It would be so awesome to have IMPROV Sax solos in Phish sometimes. I would die…. Trey and Mike? You hearing me?
CT! Worlds are colliding!
😂 was just gonna comment this !
When Phish CT walks through that door he will kill Vampire Weekend CT!
LET CT SHRED
Mike Gordon was walking around the floor after his opening and no one cared or noticed.weird. I cared!

Nice throwback to Worcester 98 but I prefer the og version 🎉🐟///🦃

it's insane how accurated they nailed this. you can still tell it's Vampire Weekend but still
is Ezra drumming??
@@ryannichols2046 Yes, Ezra got behind the kit and CT sang lead
Keys are on point
I don’t know who he is but I don’t think that bassist knows this song
Either you're joking or you actually don't know who he is, so I'm confused.
Lol, right? He sure knew what he was doing on the English Beat part! ;)

❤wait, so CT is playing lead guitar as well as singing? Ezra on drums, Gordo on bass and CB on tambourine?
Cool mashup!!
Top tier. Well done VW.
I can't believe VW didn't rip this song like Phish rips this song - comment section

to start your rabbit hole, this performance is a direct reference to phish's 11/27/1998 show, classic show for sure
Good luck on your new adventure psilocybin is your freind
Is this goose?
Yes. With members of Widespread Panic & Particle. V spesh
Singing is pretty rough... He's so flat singing this.
Weak vocals but musically was a pretty good cover
Awkward.
Holy God this is awful
Vocals sucked. Decent musically.
Phish vocals suck (been a fan since early '90s) so pretty accurate cover.
@@mhtatemore about the energy put into it, not a very convincing "Can't I live while I'm young?!"
