Hi. Loved the in-depth video. Can you verify whether Doctors cannot work via the Global Talent Visa? I just checked on the UKVI website and the only exemptions they mention are Sportspersons.
@@laxmisumamantha3924 I cannot find this information on the UKVI website now either, however, it is said on the University Of Oxford website, quote: "The Global Talent visa allows flexibility to work in the UK without restrictions, for example there is no restrictions on the hours, salary or place of work (but cannot take employment as a doctor or dentist in training unless specified or a professional sports person)" Source link: staffimmigration.admin.ox.ac.uk/gtv-overview
this was truly helpful! working right now on getting the global talent visa and coming across this gave me a more practical view of the whole process and also dismistified a bit the fear of having to be a super star or super well stablished to have a chance on getting it! Hopefully all will go well for me, have a nice one!
Thank you very much Daniel for the extended detail included in your video! 💯✨ Also, in the timeframe of 12:31, you mention that we need to apply for this visa from outside the UK. I just checked the gov.uk website and it shows that those who are within the UK on a different visa can switch directly to the Global Talent Visa. I'm glad its not necessary to apply from outside the UK 😅 But thank you once again for this detailed video. I'm definitely going to give it a go with this visa 💯✨
Dear Daniel, I have gotten my Global Talent Visa in July 2024, and I have used all information you have published on your blog. Thanks so much man. I applied as a researcher
@@mitralal466 Hi Mitra, I'm not doing consulting or guiding services, but if you have any specific question that I haven't covered in the video - please drop it here and I'll do my best to answer it
I'd suggest exploring media outlets in your niche and offering them something exclusive - they’re always on the lookout for fresh stories. While many might ignore or decline ‘cold’ emails, some will take an interest over time. Regarding the award, remember that you don’t need to win - even being nominated counts. Best of luck!
Thanks for the kind words about the video! The rules for this visa are quite straightforward: you’re free to do almost anything, with two main exceptions - you can’t work as a professional sportsman, and you’re not eligible for certain social benefits, like a state pension. Beyond that, you’re free to live the lifestyle you want, whether that’s being employed, freelancing, starting a business, studying, or something else entirely
Fintech is certainly an eligible sector for the Global Talent visa, but I’m not entirely sure if the financial controller role specifically qualifies, as it’s outside my area of expertise. I'd recommend checking the official guidance from Tech Nation (the endorsing body for the digital technology field) to see a detailed list of eligible professions
Hi Daniel! This was unbelievably helpful because you are correct - the entire process is daunting. May I ask - how did you send in your endorsement letters? Were they PDFs with a digital signature? Docusign? Or do you need a real signature and a photo or scan of it?
No worries - I completely understand how daunting the process can feel! For my endorsement, I submitted all documents, including recommendation letters and other evidence, as simple PDF files. No special digital signatures, like DocuSign, or scanned handwritten signatures were required. I hope this clarifies!
Glad you found the video helpful! Unfortunately, I don’t have any recommendations for solicitors or attorneys, as I handled the entire application process on my own
I want to apply in July 2025 as a potential leader in cybersecurity. I have already completed 5 years in my career. And I am close to obtaining my CISSP certification.
Thank you for your information! What if I worked for 8 months in a trade and production company ( paint and varnish products) in the marketing department as a graphic designer, 5 months in souvenir production and 2 years as a freelance graphic designer, is this normal for obtaining an Exceptional Promise visa? Or do I have to work certainly for a startup company engaged in digital development?
Thank you for your question! From what I know, the type of company or how you’ve worked (freelance, full-time, etc.) doesn’t matter at all. However, unfortunately, graphic design isn’t listed as an eligible profession for this visa category. I’d recommend checking the official Arts Council guide for a clearer understanding of the eligible fields. Best of luck!
Great explanation! I have a question: "able to apply ILR after 3 years under the GTV exceptional talent", if we apply for 3 years GTV, doesn't it pretty tight? Why didn't you apply for 4 years instead? I want to know your thought process on it. Thank you in advance!
Great question! While a 3-year visa might seem tight at first glance, you can actually apply for ILR up to 28 days before your visa expires. Once you’ve submitted your ILR application, you’re allowed to stay in the UK while it’s processed, even if your visa expires during that time. For me, the choice came down to minimising costs, as a longer visa would have meant higher fees. It’s a personal decision, but the 3-year route worked well for my circumstances. Hope that helps!
It usually takes at least 3 weeks to get a reply back from the Arts Council, in some cases it could be longer. So not much to do about it apart from just waiting. Good luck!
It's hard to tell because I don't know the specifics of what is referred to as 'products', but generally speaking, I would say the more diverse the evidence the better
Thank you for such informative video. I have a question, for recomendation letter from person in UK is it possible to take it from a retired profissor who is in same field as mine (chemistry) but we did not work togather ?
Ideally, a recommendation letter should outline how the person knows you, any direct work you’ve done together, and highlight your achievements and future plans, even if they’re somewhat general. While it’s better to have worked directly together, I guess a retired professor in the same field can still provide valuable insight into your abilities, as long as they can speak to your contributions and potential in chemistry, provided that this professor is a well-known and credible figure in the industry
Hi Daniel, Thanks for the detailed information about Global Talent. Did you prepare all the endorsement documents by yourself or did you get help from the experts? Because currently, I don't have any idea to prepare the endorsement documents.
Thank you for your comment! Yes, I prepared all the endorsement documents entirely on my own. If you’re feeling stuck, feel free to share which specific part of the preparation you’re struggling with, I'll try my best to help
As far as I'm aware, broadcast media technology isn't listed as an eligible field, so I'm afraid it's likely not eligible. However, I’d still recommend doing some further research, as my experience has been primarily with the Arts Council route
Media recognition is a mandatory requirement for the visa application, so unfortunately, not providing evidence of publication will likely result in your application being rejected. It’s really crucial to gather and submit all the necessary documents they're asking
Thanks Daniel .....a question tho after the Endorsement and visa how long can it take for your partner to be able to apply.Example because of the amount can l leave and settle on the uk and let me partner join later
Great question! In our case, my partner and child applied *after* I received my visa (which made sense at the time). However, we later realised they could have applied simultaneously with me, which would have saved us several months of waiting
@@jamesadofo249 No, you and your partner can apply for the visa at the same time once you receive your endorsement (Stage 1), and then you can both travel to the UK together. There’s no need to wait for a year - you can settle in the UK together right after your visas are approved :-)
Thank you for this video once again, I applied for the endorsement but unfortunately it got rejected but I hope to appeal or reapply, however I would appreciate if you could help review my documents for the appeal or reapplication
Hi Daniel, would you be able to offer a 1:1 guidance? I just graduated and got an award for the best dissertation for my department and many other things I have in the last year. But dunno if this is something you can offer. A 1:1 if possible .
Yes, as far as I know, you can switch visa routes - I’ve heard of people moving from a Skilled Worker visa to Global Talent, so I assume it would be similar for student visas. However, the Global Talent requirements remain the same no matter what visa you're switching from. I’d recommend doing a bit more research just to be sure!
They say it takes up to 8 weeks, so I wouldn't be worried yet, even though I completely understand how challenging the waiting is. Hope it will be alright!
@@JoshivibesI totally understand how you feel right now as I felt same way when I was waiting for my own application response. Thankfully, it came out successfully at the long run and I am now a coach helping people to get the visa
Hello Daniel I would like to thank you for your detailed guides to applying the Uk global talent visa which I had followed through and my wife was endorsed by the Arts and Culture as an exceptional talent but unfortunately we won’t be able to meet up with the deadline of the endorsement which is in 3 weeks. Her TB test results required further analysis(sputum)and it’s gonna take 10weeks for the result to be out. Meanwhile, she has till 25th October, 2024 to submit the application. Please, what should we do?
Hi Grant, first of all, congrats on the endorsement! I’m really glad my guide was helpful. While I haven’t faced this situation personally, here are a couple of suggestions based on what seems sensible: 1. Try to find another lab that might be able to provide the TB results faster - 10 weeks does sound excessive! 2. Reach out to the Home Office, explain the delay, and see if they might extend the lifespan of your endorsement until the test is ready. Alternatively, they might allow you to submit the Stage 2 application without the TB test for now, with the understanding that you’ll provide it later. Fingers crossed for you!
