Not bad for a guy that since the age of 7 lived on the streets in the Philippines making a dollar a day for food and sleeping in allies. Never had any singing lessons...self taught. Now here he is SITTING at the mic on a moving bus busting out songs like this. There are good singers...great singers and then there's Marcelito. Talent like never seen before.

The thing to keep in mind about Marcelito is that he raised himself, living homeless on the streets from the age of 7 onwards. He has NO formal singing training, he just did it as a way to deal with the loneliness.

The fans ahead of me have given you a lot of information about Marcelito so I'll just toss in a few more facts; he is a Philippino whose native language is Filipina, yet he impersonated Celine's and Andrea's voices, in her French-tinged English and his Italian, meticulously. That funny thing he does after the song is his humble sense of humor - the Sound Engineers were teasing him about his "female" voice so he was "removing" it. He has a charming stage presence and does many famous duets - each time capturing female and male parts flawlessly. He has an incredible album of famous duets on his personal YT account in which he double records the male/female voices. That allows him to overlay the harmonies - with himself. This song "The Prayer", overlay recorded, is spectacular. Welcome to the World of Marcelito.

You got it right! He is showcasing the unbelievable talent of imitating other singers voices and delivery almost perfectly and he doesn't even speaks nor understands understands those languages coupled with no professional training and the advantages of education either as he was an abandoned orphan growing up supporting himself with odd jobs.

He is AMAZING. And do not overlook the fact that he is singing, like this, all while sitting down. I know that Louder and higher voices are a little easier to reach while standing. But this whole video was taped while seated, at a desk. Amazing.
Great reaction! He did this live a couple times or I wouldn't believe it, now that I have heard it a few times I can easily pick out the accent and inflection differences, he is SO talented.

There are no words to adequately describe his talent. It’s beyond amazing, remarkable, or any other words. Wow !
Philippines is a country of talented singer.
Let's consider that he's singing in two different registers in two different languages and neither of them is his native tongue. Range? He goes from Baritone to Countertenor. His high countertenor register is sung in a full head voice and not falsetto. He simply amazing!
I think I heard at the time he was doing this he spoke very little if any English or Italian.
Next please, the live real duet of Morissette and Marcelito "Secret Love Song" at the Wish Music Awards.
It's always nice to watch the fans and most of all also those two singers having fun and enjoying themselves on that performance.
And remember that neither of these languages are his native language. These are just two of many voices that he can sing with.

There are several reactors who disses Marcelito, saying that he is just mimicking. i believe those comments does his talent such injustice. The mere shifting from one tone to another in a split second is a very difficult skill, not mentioning his great voice in the soprano and tenor tone. Just for your info, when he was a child, he dd was i prison and his mother abandoned him. During those times, he lived on the streets and he would sing when he was lonely. When he was a grown ma , he joined the show Pilipinas Got Talent with the pupose of looking for his parents. During the airing of themshow, there was a nationwide search formhis parents and by the end of the season, he found his parents and won the show for the season. He is truly a marvelous singer and a great person.

The general scuttlebutt on Marcelito (which may not be 100% accurate) is that he was abandoned by one parent, the other parent was in prison, and he didn't regain contact with his extended family until he was an adult, so as a kid he lived on the street and cheered himself up by singing along with the radio. No formal musical training. If that's pretty well accurate, one would guess that his persistent singing in the high register kept everything loosened up and he didn't lose that register when his testosterone kicked in. I'd also guess that he may be some kind of an autistic savant, and that's why he can mimic the exact vocal tones of his favorite artists as well as singing Italian phonetically and English semi-phonetically (he has a strong accent when just speaking). Note also that he did this performance sitting down, which meant he sacrificed maybe 30% of his lung power, and still the only minor slipup he made was breathing in the middle of the word "esperanza" (assuming that that's all one word in Italian, I'm not sure).
He also recorded The Power of Love on the Wish Bus, imitating Celine only. Excellent cover.

Marcelito was born with the ability to sing in soprano, tenor and baritone ranges and does them all without ever having any vocal training. He's been on tour at a number of venues. Absolutely a very special talent and a very kind man.

he won Philippines got talent in 2011for singing a duet of the prayer a female's voice in English and a male's voice in Italian must see Power of Lovely he can'tspeak very good English and he says he has never had any voice lessons or vocal coach he learned this on his own in the streets in the Philippines he is married now and has a little daughter I think she's four I wonder if she will have any of his talent to sing

It is always fun to see people's first time reactions to the amazing Marcelito. You missed a few points though. Not only is he singing, back and forth between female and male parts but also seemingly effortlessly, in two languages that are not his first language, while sitting down in a radio studio on a bus. If you look at his life story and the extreme difficulties he has lived through and overcome, you will be even more astounded. Opera companies should hire him, as they get two for the price of one. Not only can he do a duet by himself, he could probably do a whole opera by himself.

This is a staple in comedy bars in the metro areas of Manila - where performers would dress half their bodies in women's clothes and the other half in men's - since way back when. Marcelito is a standout in this kind of routine but I thought of this as a circus act. Sorry.

A couple more Filipinas to consider are Gigi de Lana and Katrina Velarde. However, a Brazlian named Gabriel Henrique is totally unique, and should be considered also. His latest cover, "Stand Up" blows the roof off.

At the end he was having a joke with the producer and pretending to cough up the extra voice everyone suspects he has. Such a humble and nice guy!
Since he was homeless, he has been using his fame and money to get houses for homeless elderly people in his hometown in the Philippines. Go Marcellito!
