I turned this into my summer weekend bag. Tarp, bugnet, sleep pad, 2 sleep bag liner, 3L bladder and more necessities. Haven't totally matched everything together but I'm liking the way it's working out.
Dude, thank you so much for this video. I was kind of annoyed / bummed they removed the top compression strap because I think it kind of ruins the aesthetics but most of all that it took away from the functionality but you just resold me on this pack by showing you can cross the 2 side compressions over to achieve the same functionality. No one else online makes this point, including MR. So again thank you!
Looking for advice here. I have an old (20years) Osprey Stratos 18 that I love. I need a bigger day pack, get home bag, overnight bag, etc. So, I’ve been looking at the Blitz 35 or the Scree 32/33. Thoughts? I’d go with Osprey again but looking at them in store they seem to only worry about weight savings in materials vs being built to last 20 years.
I was going back and forth between a few packs for my 72-hour bag setup until I randomly found this on sale for like 50 bucks off, which made it a no-brainer purchase. for me what makes it ideal for emergencies is two-fold. one, I have heard it is very comfortable and adjustable so my back won’t be in agony after a few miles. two, you can just flay open the whole bag super quickly, definitely ideal for accessing important stuff in a hurry. just wish it had straps on the bottom for easily attaching a tent or a pad or something for lightweight overnighters. there are some mods/workarounds I’ve seen but it would be cool if they were just included. I get that it’s a “day pack” but it would be a cheap way to make it much more versatile. thanks for the video!
Another great video, Aaron. Informative, and as usual, you have an opinion. Thanks for sharing not only the specs and features, but what you like and dislike, and why.
Thanks for the review! Thanks! Its interesting how you have the knife pointing very close to your neck when you walk on a wet and slippery track! Watch out mate! probably not the best spot for a knife!
New to the backpacking seen and I’m looking to do a few 1 to 2 nighters mostly in the warmer seasons do you think this pack could be utilized for day hikes 1 to 2 night camping‘s and airline travel with a Nemo two person tent I do have a travel companion so I can split some of the gear
Aaron, we love your channel and use your links as much as we can afford. Thank you for what your doing. With that said, can we get you to review the eberlestock gunslinger 2 pack and compare its comfort ability against the Scree. Your right the Scree is very comfortable but its not a hunting pack and we would love to find a hunting pack as comfortable as the scree. I believe the comfort ability in a pack depends on the angles of the shoulder straps and how close it can get to your body. A review of the gunslinger 2 would be greatly appreciated.
Man I would buy this pack in a heartbeat if it came with a laptop sleeve. Thought about getting an insert one but it wouldn't be suspended off the bottom which would be a problem
I'm still dumbfounded as to how they left out the strap/cord/hook/anything to hold up the water bladder... Seems like a glaring oversight consider the pack is clearly set up for a water bladder otherwise.
Thanks for the thorough review. I've had this pack for several months and have had a problem where the bottom, unpadded portion of the shoulder straps dig into my sides. Have you encountered this, and if so, have you found a way to mitigate? Thank you from a new sub. Cheers.
I have found specifications for height of 66cm (26 inches). Is that right ? I think that would make it a long bag for a 32 l and more importantly it is out of specs for cabin luggage on many air travel companies. That could be the big dealbreaker for me on that bag. Thanks for the detailed review !
What pants are these ?!? You should do more reviews on pants, shoes and base/midlayers. Pretty sure you got enough videos on knives and pouches. More clothes, shoes and backpacks please. Thank you.
I agree with Coulee 40 being ideal for overnight. I have MR ASAP/3DAP/Coulee 40/Pintler/Sawtooth 45. The stretch materials outside bumps more storage and capability.
nice video. I need to fit an item 16x16x4" that I need quick access to. I saw the dimensions, but the fabric looks flexible. Do you know if it will fit? thanks
Hi Aaron! I just bought this pack for $199 from Amazon. It's an awesome backpack and probably the most comfortable one I own (last inventory was 22). I normally don't like to use H2O bags inside my pack as I've experienced leakage even with the well made Camelbacks. However, on a recent trip into the mountains I devised a short 550 loop with a cord lock, securing the bottom of the loop onto the bladder then pushing the cord lock through the hole for the tubing leading to the shoulder strap. Secure the cord lock and if necessary tie the two loose ends of the 550 to ensure the cord lock remains in place. As the reservoir emptied it remained secured. My load out was just under 25 pounds including an extra Pathfinder canister of water and a full 2L reservoir. I noted that there was no strain on the shoulder harness threads or anywhere else on the pack. The MR Scree 32L will be my day pack and I'll be researching their larger packs for winter use.

I took it on the Icicle Ridge trail in Leavenworth WA a few days ago. It carried so extremely well. Practically forgot it was even on my back.
The water bladder now goes in the two side new slots, just like in the 3Day Assault Pack.
Just in case anyone is wondering, the new packs (at least the one I just got) does have the bladder water securing tab.
just picked this bag up, last one in that color at REI, took 40lb load yesterday for a good 6 mile hike through a pretty tough trail, pack was great.
Mystery ranch is in my hometown where I'm at in Bozeman MT! I love there gear and now I found my new day pack! Thanks for the video!

Awesome review and overview.
Bummer that it’s missing the bladder loop. Otherwise, it would be perfect.
Great video, as usual. I purchased a Scree based partly on your review and recommendation. It's an exceptional pack.
Nice job sir. I like the accessibility to the main compartment.
Great video. What color trim is this one? Lizard? Any opinions on this bag vs Coulee 30?
Thanks for the review! Thanks!

I will see what I can do, it maybe a year out before I can get to that.

You should check out Warrior assault systems daysacks and Bergen's,excellent quality and very well made.

Paul Hurtado yep not sure what happened there
@@gideonstactical I mean you could probably jimmy up some sort of workaround, but you shouldn't have to at that price...
This or the Coulee?
Tough! I think it comes down to the size you need and if you like more external pockets. The build quality and yoke are the same.
Can you use this pack for a ruck pack? Carry a 30LB plate and 3L water bladder?

Hello Gideon, with which one will You go for travel (65%) and backpacking (35%) - MR Scree 32 or Kelty Redwing Tactical 44?
With the current release of the vertx overland I wonder if it would stack up?
Hey, which gloves do you wear?
Thanks:)
Savotta Jakkari Medium or the Scree 32 for extended day hikes?
Sold!!! Thanks great review
You should try the Eberlestock X41 or X31!
What pants are these ?!? You should do more reviews on pants, shoes and base/midlayers. Pretty sure you got enough videos on knives and pouches. More clothes, shoes and backpacks please. Thank you.
Any chance you can compare it to the MR Coulee 40 pack? They seem pretty similar, but the 40L would be easier to push to an overnighter.
I agree with Coulee 40 being ideal for overnight. I have MR ASAP/3DAP/Coulee 40/Pintler/Sawtooth 45. The stretch materials outside bumps more storage and capability.
Have you ever used any of hill people gear back packs? If so how does it compare to this pack.
I absolutely love this pack, but I hate that the hipbelt pockets are so small. Really wish they'd make better hipbelt pockets.
what water blatter are you using in this video?
Great vid! I just ordered. The scree. What knife is attached to the shoulder strap?
Hey mate how do find this vs the Coulee 40 or 25?
This bag looks great. Might have to order it
I’m curios Aaron do u have a system for storing all ur gear? Would like to see that
Ryan Harmening I will try to make that happen
@@gideonstactical that would be awesome man thanks for the reply
Can you use this for an overnight backpacking trip?
depends on where you live. If you live or hike in the mountains probably not. If you live in a desert or warmer climate probably
Amazing design backpack looks!!! :D
I like the original Scree, with the one big pocket
How are you strapping the Esee to the shoulder strap?
Is this backpack carry on compatible?
what brand and model is that water bladder? thanks!
How close is this to their 3 day assault pack? It looks like a civilian version.
What is your jacket?
Awesome review! Cheers for uploading :D
These have dropped down to $130. I'm torn between the Scree and the Ibex.
So Aaron ... Scree 32 or Umlindi?
I've been a sub since you had around 50,000 and always look forward to your videos. Thanks for everything Aaron
Very Cool pack Aaron an awesome review Sir
Dude let’s get to the woods soon
Peter Kohler for sure I miss u bro
Good kit but damn it's expensive.
Mystery ranch in the U.K. are so expensive!
Oh, man, now a Mystery Ranch day pack to complement my full size MR pack.
nice video. I need to fit an item 16x16x4" that I need quick access to. I saw the dimensions, but the fabric looks flexible. Do you know if it will fit? thanks

30L ish is the sweet spot
thank you.
15 miles with 25lbs? Dude, I hope you’re running that . . . Lol
Zippers on the main compartment = more risk of failures.
Id love to give this a try but thats my main concern too.
@@Steve-uv9kb for me there is the zippers + the price tag. It is a bit overrated I think.
Hope they have side compression on the lower part were in you put your nalgene
Mystery Ranch has absolutely ZERO justification for their outrageously stupid prices !!!
Wrong.
Try the Exo K3 1800, you’ll give the MR away
