As an aspiring sports journalist this video gives me so much great insight. Thank you Kofie, you've continued to be one of the most down to earth sports media people I've ever watched. (Side note: Jon Bois being the one to give you your first video gig is THE coolest sh*t ever)
What i like about your and the rest of the SB team's style is that i FEEL like its well researched and something you actually care about. A lot of sports media is hot takes, whereas even when youre being subjective, it feels well researched. At the same time it also is very evident youre enjoying what youre doing. Its a great combo
Haven't watch this video yet but I plan on watching it over and over again. I'm an aspiring sports journalist going into my third year of college and you're one of my biggest inspirations. Sometimes I look at your videos and think "Damn I should've thought of that." I hope I can come back to this comment in a few years and say that I made it and your words helped me
Kofie, I feel you on the blur of time. My last semester at Shepherd University was a total blur for me because I was working 2 part times jobs and going to school. 1 job was as a Production Assistant for my local news station, the other was retail. News in the morning, retail at nights, Very infrequently, did I have to do both, along with school. But MAN, were those days rough. I lived off of coffee and keeping my sanity in anyway possible. Jon being your hype man is the coolest thing ever. Love your videos together, and have been loving your content on your own channel as well. Can't wait to see what new stuff you and SecretBase make next. In your opinion, is there any benefit of reaching out to companies for potential jobs, versus going off of the job board? Thanks for you insights and backstory with your journey to SB.
No questions, just love this style of content - more please! Also bring back the kofie podcast! The one you did with foolish baseball where you guys swapped stories is one of my all time favs
This video is inspiring. I went to school for broadcasting (graduated in ‘21) and the pandemic messed up some opportunities for me. I’m now just trying to work a regular job but maybe i need to go where i know i can be myself. Appreciate you Kofie
the fact that you're staying up all night stressing is legitimately heartbreaking but fully relatable and understandable. I only found the secret base channel because of you and wouldn't have subbed if you weren't part of it.
Heartbreaking? Lmao settle down buttercup. It's a job, he's doing fine, nobody forces him to stay awake. Put your little heart back in your chest and toughen up for gods sake. Jesus christ. Don't cry over that now, they're just words.
Heartbreaking? Good lord you people are soft. It's a job, he isn't being held hostage, and he can go to sleep whenever he pleases. I know, you're one of those people who think the world should just be everyone sitting around relaxing, not how it works. Funny, I doubt you feel the same way about the blue collar guys who actually keep the world running. Not journalists up at 5 am recording themselves talk level difficult, but no day at the beach nonetheless! Maybe you're right. Be brave, Kofie. Even though you staying up all night and working so hard is your prerogative, it's heartbreaking. I weep for you knowing that you work for a great company and are doing well. Such a tough scene. You guys remember that night Kofie defied all past human capabilities and stayed up making a video until 5 am? WHAT A BRAVE HERO!!!!! Put your little dainty heart back in your chest and toughen up, fruit pop. Probably just committed a violent act against you with words 😂
Apart from Vincent Goodwill and James Edwards III, you're the voice/opinion I care about the most and seek out. Thank you for your hard work over the years, and you deserve all the success.
I only really started making videos when I found myself in a friend group that really promoted it, and it's something I think could be really beneficial if I got to work on videos as a part of a larger group. I feel like I have the vision but I need the pieces between vision and final product. Really appreciate hearing your story, Kofie
Thank you for this video and being so insightful about your journey. Not many people in the industry are as open about it as you are surprisingly. For someone trying to make it in the industry, where do you find the internship opportunities you’ve had and aside from networking what other ways can one apply for an entry level position after completing school? Thanks again for all the content!
Has anything ever happened that made you second question if this is the right direction for you? I ask because as a musician I’m in a turning point of being in a really cool situation and I’m having that anxious doubt that can happen when you’re on the Cusp of living the dream you’ve always wanted. Also I wanted to ask, how early in life did you know for sure this was what you wanted to do? Third question is, have you allowed yourself the time to feel a sense of accomplishment thoroughly since you’ve been pretty successful and people love your stuff, me included.
I just assumed you had compromising information on Jon Bois so you leveraged that.... also what year did you have a family member go to MIT, I'm around the same age as you and my dad graduated from there in 1976
I got a really important question do the music yall use on secret base have to get approved or can anyone like me use it on a documentary they are making (im trying to make a film on curry vs magic)
somewhat honest question how did you watch the Peyton video over and over again all night and still think the Marvin Harrison number 88 joke was worth making 4 dozen times lol
@@KofieWhyI was trying to be charitable. Like you could have referred to Vick by his federal inmate number every time and that would have been an equally non-funny reference
I had always assumed Jon Bois made a scatter plot chart of candidates and Kofie was one of the outlier dots so Jon hired him on the spot 😂
underrated comment 😆
Ah, you've already seen the raw cut of Jon Bois' "How I Got Kofi to work at Secret Base" video.

Kofie strolled into Cornerstone and knew he found his home 😂
Also, come back to Audi Field for a Defenders game. Y'all need to see this in person

Your work along with other secret base folks absolutely inspired me to dive into pursuing sports writing and media. Your insight is appreciated

Of course it's about Pablo Sanchez 😂😂😂

Does Kofie even sleep?

Big JON BOIS FAN
John Salmons
What ever happened to John Bois? I've seen that he hasn't posted any new articles on Secret Base since 2021 and no videos in over a year
I just assumed you had compromising information on Jon Bois so you leveraged that.... also what year did you have a family member go to MIT, I'm around the same age as you and my dad graduated from there in 1976
Would you ever host a meetup? I feel like it would be good vibes.
Also, are you doing a fantasy football league this year?
my man
I got a really important question do the music yall use on secret base have to get approved or can anyone like me use it on a documentary they are making (im trying to make a film on curry vs magic)
Kofie, you don't have to make this. It's common knowledge Jon kidnapped you and trapped you in the fumble dimension
Makes me want to watch some fumble dimension now.
How can I get a job in the sports media w/o going to college?
Be an influencer/podcaster?
Start covering or broadcasting local high school sports
Gotta see this unused sideshow
Yeee heee
I pray for you bro
somewhat honest question how did you watch the Peyton video over and over again all night and still think the Marvin Harrison number 88 joke was worth making 4 dozen times lol
It’s not a joke it’s a reference
