5 4 11 just felt like such an obvious 2nd settlement. You still have married 4s and 11s while getting the early Wood to defend first settlement (either Brick port or 9 10 11). Black going 9 10 11 for 2nd settlement just feels too slow to do anything, and you would essentially be in the same position with a Brick port instead of the 9 Sheep.
The 9 4 11 2nd feels like too much of a defensive play. It's conceding potential. Remember Black's starting position - Black wants that Wood port so badly because he opted to go with double Wood on the 1st settlement. Black would not want to race twice with Orange for Wood port AND you for 9 10 11. The 5 4 11 expanding to 9 10 11 just feels too free unless Black is specifically targeting you.

Totally don't understand that either. He places near the brick port for the purpose of building to it and expects he gets the 4 5 11 on the way back then proceeds to completely ignore that plan.

Dylan i think you won that game because blue decided at 10:45 to road build towards a 5th settle spot. He had a hand of 3 wheat, 2 brick and something else prior to trading and portinf 3 of the wheat for 2 wood. Dude could've ported the 2 brick and 2 of the wheat to buy a dev card which wouldve kept pacing for army and likely won him the game in the end.
When you have such good settlements and production for devs, its stupid to waste resources building to a 5th spot.
You should consider using a voice changer so you can still table talk! love the videos :)

You also could do another settlement on the 12-11 and win anyway
There seems to be way too much hate in the comments. Let the man play his game. He is one of the worlds best players and he has a specific style that works for him. Keep up the great work!
Hes far from the top even in his country, nvm the world. And his 'style' is to spam OWS and gamble every game, that's just not knowing how to do anything else

I'm sure you think I'm a hater but I'm not. I love your content and you have the ability to bring Catan content to a new level. You already have to a certain extent. Just wish you'd try some game play outside your comfort zone of forced OWS in almost every game. Only times it's not is when you do some sort of port strategy that you still flip into OWS. Can't remember the last time you played a road game without it being just a cheeky double play. Or just a nice hybrid game except when DandyDrew is coaching. I'll stop commenting and just hit the like button until the videos get too stale to watch. Wish you the best and hope you find your way to broadening your play style to make each video different and unique.
OWS is meta for a reason. It’s hands down the best overall set up. Yes some boards lend better to a road and settle set up but devs win games
@@_AKMOMO_ I didn't say it wasn't good. But it's not good to force it when it's not there in your pick order. This game was a little better but game 1 to take far less production and bad positioning to force OWS...if you think that's meta then I guess the only "meta" you know is Dylighted's. But that's not actual Catan meta. I don't expect the guy to be perfect, just want to see him try something different than forcing OWS every game when there are clear options that leave him with a flexible game plan. A good setup should allow flexibility instead of planning your exact game plan from the 1st settlement.
@@savagesnadgaming7252 like you said this game isn’t a good example of that because this is a great game for OWS and his set up here was very good for OWS. I agree, forcing it can definitely put you into a sticky situation but OWS is most def meta for a reason it’s the strongest strat depending on the board and rolls. But you just have more flexibility because of the dev cards. Like this game if he went for road he wouldn’t of been buying devs and wouldn’t have multiple VP’s without those vp’s the opponents most likely beat him to 10.
I also watch a lot of Catan players and play with most of them as I do play in a lot of in person and online tourneys.

The 4s rolled too many times for it to be statistically viable. This was literal pure luck. And the second settlement on 4911 made no sense, as it's clear that 6 pips of sheep is way too much for coordinated 3 pips of ore/wheat
It would have made so much more sense to balance it with wood and expand from there.

@@kirillbolshacov5590 I will have to respectfully disagree, this game was more skill and trades sprinkled with some luck on the side. All games of catan are luck based they are dependent on how the dice roll. that being said, have them Coord 4s where clutch for him not only for him to city like he did but to be able to pull so many devs. 4 knights and 4 other devs is alot of OWS production, the only person who could keep up with cities and devs was the person also on the 4's, blue. Also going into the game you cant fully count on 11's sometimes they hit like in this game they rolled 3 times which is pretty decent, but if it didn't roll then he would of had 0 sheep all game. 11 isn't like a 6 , the 11 can easily not roll all game. then he would also be competeing with 2 others for road while no one else fought blue for devs which is never a good idea.

In colonist, someone slould add an stat that tell time spent per player, stats at the end of a game, and also a number that represents how fast the player plays, i mean like karma.. but a number that represent how fats u really play in average. just a thought

Why not road build & YOP to take the 3/8 at 13:16? They sat in your hand for the rest of the game and your kept cursing the road building.

I think you should try and trade way more often. For example you could have tried and traded for wood instead of 4 for 1 the brick. At least try!

Because he decided to build roads to the 3 11 6 which led to getting plowed. If he instead bought a dev there and just focused on buying devs he would have won easily

@18:00 The question is why would you ever offer the winning trade in this situation. You win this game with a very high probability on your next turn. Why would you ever risk getting the game canceled just for this stupid and unnecessary trade? Apart from the fact that it's very poor sportsmanship to abuse a new player like that.
