kuba 84 I am glad that you were inspired, I have spent a long time working out the best method for me, but everyone has different circumstances and different sources for wood. I try and recycle everything, but it does take time! I also try and use simple scientific principles to help dry the wood, the black roof heats up in the sun, causing air to rise through the well ventilated stack etc. With the gutter I find I don't need a drop down cover, whereas an earlier version which did not have a gutter suffered from rain dripping off the roof and wetting the lower logs, so a gutter is a good way of getting the water out of the way.
Good thing about the wee short dumpy bits is they're perfect for lighting up your stove.
