- Field Testing RIT Dyed UCP! (Short Version)
Howdy Folks! I was able to take the RIT Dyed UCP Surplus to the woods for some field testing. I will be posting two versions, a short version and a longer, more detailed version. See for yourself just how effective the RIT Olive Drab and Coyote Brown formulas work in the Spring forest in my neck of the woods.
Here are the formulas I produced for 3lbs. of fabric (6 gallon dye bath)
Olive Drab:
1 Bottle Camel (All Purpose Dye)
1 Bottle Kelly Green (All Purpose Dye)
1/2 Cup (1/2 bottle) Dark Brown (All Purpose Dye)
2 Cups Distilled White Vinegar
Coyote Brown
1 Bottle Tan (All Purpose Dye)
1 Bottle Camel (All Purpose Dye)
2 Tbs Purple (All Purpose Dye)
2 cups Distilled White Vinegar

You know that once you start rolling around and crawling through any enviroment for a while it will blend in much better than new kit. Great experiment and a total success! 🏴
Looks pretty good. Thanks for sharing! 🥃🍻🪂😁👍🏻🇺🇸
You bet! Thank You!
Nice
Thanks!
Outstanding! I've been messing around with my own RIT formulas. I have achieved colours resembling South African brown, Ranger Green, brown bess, OD green, foliage, etc. The principals of camouflage that I subscribe to are to break up identifiable big shapes into unidentifiable smaller shapes. By mixing all of the various earth toned colours I have achieved together...works perfectly. I might add that I am into this for around 260.00 including the dye. Large Ruck, Patrol pack, 10 mag pouches, rifleman kit, sustainment pouches, plus about a dozen others. This gear is incredible. Well built, comfortable, and affordable. If you are a minuteman on a budget, look no further.
Brother, If you would have bought all of that stuff used in Multicam/OCP you'd have spent $800. New, $1,200-$1,400. I agree with you completely as to the quality of this gear, even used. The Minuteman need not sacrifice their safety of effectiveness due to lack of financial resources.
Its fantastic. With gear added and broken up in a 3D world its FINE!
Thank You!
@@boonedockery7220 Im presently messing with the new Dye More's working on a Ranger Green and OD. Got a ton on that Airforce Tiger Stripe UCP. I get the recipes simplified will post em on one of your vid's Keep it up man, PA here
@@boonedockery7220absolutely fantastic brother 😂❤
My completionist OCD says I'll still watch both lol
😄😆😅😄😆😅 Thank You!
Just for support, I watched the short version as well! 😁
I've tried spray paint. It looks okay (daytime). Will now try the dye angle though. Thanks for the recipes too! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
You are so welcome! I love to tinker and sharing as I do. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I share it all.
Hmm, I'm intrigued. It looks great in visible light but I wonder if the dyes stand out in IR etc. Have you been able to check that yet? I'm very interested. Thanks.
It will almost certainly compromise the IR capability to some extent. However most of us going up against regular forces with modern capabilities will be compromised to some extent anyway.
@@vonsprague7913 Agreed. I'm just hoping this method isn't really bad. It looks like it has good potential.
@@NickFrom1228 won't be as bad as spray paint. I like the way you're thinking Nick.
Truth!
Look it's Custer! I just happen to be watching the camo episode of Modern Warfare on the Adolf Hitler Channel. It was discussing the develpoment of UCP...the camo that doesn't work anywhere. Great job dude.
Thank You! I was actually in 5 documentaries on the Hitlery Channel in the late 90's through 2001. The series "Legends of the old Northwest: Decisive Battles" and "Boone and Crockett: The Hunter Heroes" (In Which I Portrayed D. Boone, That's one of the reasons for me calling my channel Boonedockery.
@@boonedockery7220Sorry, I missed those. I was busy building and riding my Harley after 10 years in Uncle Sugar's Canoe Club.
Drinkin' and chasin' tail was slightly more important and besides, I used the T.V. money for parts! I think it was for a hi-torque starter for my 74' shovelhead. Damn thing was expensive!
I would be inclined to mix the 2 . After all we're trying to break up our silhouette... I always mix my camo .
I WILL try that! Thank you for sharing this!
I have been wondering about dying some multicam more green . I live in KY and it is really greening up right now .
Crye produced Multicam Tropical. However, purchasing surplus Multicam/OCP and dyeing it the OD should produce the same color palette?
