hi olha, when i make my chainplates i use a silver solder, its great but its very hard to cut the small shavings i need to fill the gaps, to paste you use looks very easy to work wih , can i ask you the name of the solder paste you use please
Here I used one from Amazon with extra-low-temperature paste, there is not even a description on it, but I think here no more than 50% of silver... I will write a link in the description under the video so that UA-cam does not block the comment
Beautiful work. Watching it is almost meditative. Crazy hull shape though. I've sailed on boats with stability issues but this must have been a vomit racket in the sea.
Hi Olha... Great work. I have a question.. What kind of solder is that? And when i did mine on the HMS Victory I made one at a time... Why I dont know.
Thank you very much! Here I am experimenting with extra low temperature solder paste. Unfortunately, there is no description on it, but I think there is no more than 50% silver because it melts even when using a regular lighter...
I'm guessing you heat the brass to anneal it to make it more pliable ? if I'm not mistaken the brass would be to brittle otherwise and would crack when bent ? What the heck is in the tube like a lead flux mix ?

I describe all the key points (materials, sizes, etc.) and if I have a detailed video about the trick - I add it in the form of a card on the top right! I use subtitles so that viewers can translate into any language ... - Yes, I anneal the wire to make it more pliable. - low-temperature silver paste for solder (fluidity 221 celsius)

Olha, when you make details like these chainplates, do you ever see a need to remove the flux(?) residue left by the solder and/or solder paste? I know that IPA is used to remove some flux residues from circuit boards and there are also flux removers specifically designed for the purpose, so I got curious and thought that I would ask. ;) Thank you very much for sharing the level of detail that you do in these videos!
I do not use flux removal. But I think Brass Black is doing it - because after that you won't find any signs of its presence. P.S. At the end of this experiment with this extra low-temperature paste, I already managed to solder without burning the flux...

its been my observation that when a chainplate would be in way of gun port it would be angled off so as to clear the gunport
