norm to the rescue goodstuff
i was just thinking of tomy lee jones tossing the the men in black neuralizer and repeatidly breaking it , how psychotic can a maker be driven
Eh. Someone botched the editing. Just letting you know.
Where can I get one of those 'Norm' cleaning robots?..
One cannot be too bothered by chronology if one is to be a true Tested fan.
But it does hurt my little mind a little when I'm watching both videos back to back late at night...but that's on me
Are we talking about around 12:44? Because I think we entered a time paradox for a few seconds there..
I pretended it was a Tarantino movie with the non-linear story telling.
These videos are ADHD approved! 😁👍
I like the ‘when you come and visit’ line, as if he’s expecting just any of us to come drop by. 😆
Just dropping by seems out of the question, but no is the worst that could happen reaching out to ask, and that isn't too bad, right?
Watching Adam's videos on Saturday morning is like watching bugs bunny cartoons when I was a kid! I just love it.
Norm stopping by and helping clean up 🥺 everyone needs friends/co-workers like Norm, so pure
Heck, this storage trunk could be a movie prop unto itself. Something an interdimensional arms dealer might have. :D
For sure, there is always the scene where the protagonist is presented with a store of weapons. In my dream, Adam wheels out this steam trunk.
Dammit Steve! Stop blowing his cover story!
"Me? Oh, I'm just a harmless and humble prop maker..."
haha, Adam actually stole the trunk and it's contents from the TVA.
Ha ha. Good one 👍
Knowing when to stop weathering is an art in and of itself.
12:53 - 13:37 seems like it was a little out of place, should have gone before installing the shelves. Love the video
I was about to comment the same thing. Must have been a mistake.
Some vintage looking worn, torn and scuffed travel stickers/ labels would work nicely on the exterior. It would give it a well travelled look . Great piece Adam
They need to be labels specific to the franchises represented, too: Altair IV for the Forbidden Planet blaster,
Spending a few months exploring Adams cave just sounds like monumental fun.
The blaster vault looks amazing! So envious of your collection, Adam! Some incredible one-of-a-kind items!👍
A tear has fallen for the ZF-1. Hopefully, it gets the glory it deserves, by being set apart and placed on the mantle it is so worthy of.
What a beautiful piece! That makes me want to replace my dresser with such an old Louis Vuitton style case. Very neat!
May the blasters get no further harm within.
Regards,
Etna.
That flashback was an amazing experience.
Nicely done, Adam. You got that antique trunk wear pattern down pat. Norm, that is being a friend. Can't wait to see the outside weathering.
Love those pump spray bottles. I’ve used them to apply stain to polished concrete floors. Also really handy if you ever get a wasp/hornet nest growing somewhere you don’t want. Put a little warm water and dawn in one (apply dawn after water to avoid bubbles and slowly swirl). Then spray nest from a few feet away. Dispatches the wasps almost instantly and isn’t poisonous.
That trunk looks like it's from the 1920's - cracking job on the weathering, can't wait to see how you do the outside, + you look like you are having so much fun in your cave- Unfortunately, Timber has become so damned expensive now in the UK, that even and 8'x4' sheet of the cheapest 1/4 inch (6mm) plywood is like £35.00 or $47 usd ! it is terrible as when you're on a basic pension, one cannot afford materials to pursue ones hobby, and now prices look to skyrocket since the war in Ukraine will force up the price of everything. At least I can watch you do stuff. Thanks Adam for uploading your happy videos .
I grab whatever i can from the roadside and dumpsters and recycle it back into basics.
Back of cabinets are cheap but big pieces of ply wood, the newer ones fiberboard, you get an decent ammount of screws and hardware out of furniture too, couches and so on often have plywood construction under the padding too.
I didn't think Adam would be a luxury goods type of guy but this trunk is perfect for all these guns!
Turned out wonderful ! The screw sorting montage was funny, I wish everyone could sort that fast lol
16:42 Coming in to find a mess like that is the stuff nightmares are made of, lol. Cheers to Norm for helping!
(Also, I am glad there is at least one thing from Star Trek in that chest!)
I haven't thought about the 'In the Line of Fire' gun since I saw it the first weekend it hit HBO. Thanks for all you do and for today's 'blast' from the past!
Oh my god, I'd almost forgotten about those Richard Scarry books! I loved those as a kid!
OMG. Richard Scarry!! I read them to my kids all the time. The one where the fire fighers put out the bug family's barbecue was my middle son's favourite!!
Great way to start the morning! I’m having a coffee and watching Adam tinker :)
It's always been a dream to visit this cave! Literally I've dreamt about meeting Adam like 5 times.
I bet if Adam came to my home he would be amazed of all the stuff me and my brother collected over the year's. Stuff made and found antiques
@@snoopu2601 doubt it
I am not a maker, the closest I get is building Gunpla, however I find this so soothing to watch. I wish he’s make his space open to the public one time for one day so I could walk through and be enamored but it in person.
I love weathering videos. In fact, I think I am becoming addicted to weathering things. More!
Are you entropy? Because that sounds like sounds like some kind of shifty entropy talk to me.
@@harbl99 Oooh! I might be.
Norm is such a trooper.
Adam I really hope you see this by some chance. You REALLY need to do the
AGL arms 45. Long Colt from Trigun if you like big bad hand cannons.
I heard that diluted coffee is good for weathering light colored cloth too. Also, Richard Scarry books are awesome. Go Lowly Worm!
We saw the show and tell of the guns a few days ago, yesterday you talked about organizing the screws and lugs that fell, and in this video you include bits from both of those videos. I'd like to see a "One Day in Adam's Cave" kind of video, taking all the footage (with time lapse and cutting out some uninteresting parts, of course, to make it a manageable video length) from a single day that would go into multiple videos and showing a slice of your daily life.
Lighting is so important! What is your process? What are those lights in the back? I've used the LED strip lights in display cases and they seem to lack drama. I'm joining the channel right now just so you'll tell me. Also, your excitement is so contagious I find it difficult to make it through a whole build video in one session without running to my shop to tinker like crazy.
I firmly believe that Adam's 2nd greatest skill is weathering (and that is saying something because he has SO many great skills). His greatest skill is communication OF COURSE!
13:30 time stamp is a little weird. This video in parts comes across like some found footage. I like it. It's mad crazy yet exciting and fantastic.
Somday I would love to build a Ghostbusters proton pack with this man ever since I watch all the episodes of mythbusters I've always wanted to build a replica with Adam love seeing ur videos and ur one day builds hope to see more in the future
I have been struggling with how to help my son store his extensive dart blaster collection. This gives me a lot of ideas. :)
For the outside you need to add some vintage looking travel stickers for places like Tatooine and Alderaan :-).
... and even a few from the Star Trek Franchise. Sadly Dr. Who was anti-gun (for the right reasons). So you can't add any locations from that universe.
A true friend is someone who will help you pick up and sort through a couple thousand screws
I don't care about geekdom and I can't build/have almost no interest in it, but Adam's one day builds are some of my absolute favorite things on youtube.
name a more iconic duo: adam savage and weathering
Great show I love everything you do. But I was wondering have you ever re-created any back to the future props?
Adam, I think you should open a museum with all your stuff so people can go to visit
Ah, gotta love the weathering Adam is doing on his reference surface.
I admire the US’s commitment to the imperial measuring system…it’s way worse than metric, but I admire you’re commitment all the same
You know what would be an extra awesome feature to add to your smaller guns...? Spring loaded rails. So whenever you push a button on the front of the shelf, that gun's rail will pop out and "present" that gun to you. A fair amount of work to add all those rails, and a decent amount of weight, but it would add an extra layer of awesome to the case. The part that would suck the worst IMO is having to make a proper holder for each of the guns so they don't fall when the rail pops out.
for the spray area that you are planning to make I was wondering if you planned to make a wall or ceiling type hood to extract the aerosol or do you plan to have the hood mounted below the objects you are spraying. I recently saw a spray booth for cars that had the fan and filter in the floor rather than in the wall or ceiling and think that might be an interesting way of designing a mobile spray cart. ex. kinda similar to how a vacuum former is layed out but without the heating element
Are we going to see the trunk being built or did I miss an episode somewhere? Or is it going to be like what we saw with the showing of the guns in a reverse fashion?
Yeah, ever since I spied the trunk in the background of some other videos I've been hoping for a full build video. 🤞
Whereas my view is that this work is so beautiful that it doesn't need weathering. It's perfect without that step.
That is amazing and looks great. But I would've styled it after the trunks from Joe vs the Volcano. Still great work as always Adam.
Adam I think is due for a kneeling mat for his knees.
GREAT to know you ended with the sortamo recovery.
As usual all good content
Are you going to weather each guy being put in and out?
This is answer for your toolboxes🤙🏻
I wish I was important enough to be invited to the cave. Truly it would be the best thing to ever happen!
he needs to put the blow dryer in there call it the savage blaster. enjoyed the walk and talk. thank you.
May I ask why you glued the linen in vertically? I would think laying it down on it’s side would be easier to avoid wrinkles, and you wouldn’t be fighting against gravity.
When you said “Norm stopped by” for some reason I was expecting to see Norm Abram in the next shot.
Lol I like how not long ago you had a rattle can shaker that broke and you fixed it but still prefer the old shake method
I like to imagine the Pulse Rifle's not in the shot so we can see it. Rather, it's offering moral support to Adam, whispering "It's gonna be so cool..."
I just watched The Kings Man and there is a trunk just like that in one scene. Super obvious standing up and all. What a coincidence
Your brain NEVER completely turns off does it? lol So creative.
I feel almost like if this beautiful piece of art were to have any artificial weathering added in place of just letting time take its course....it should have some blaster burns as if the owner had taken fire while going for their guns at one or more points.
I would have waited to age it because over time I notice it ages on it's own.
If I leave it out side depending on how long the weather work's well with the aged look.
a story board helps speed up shelf layout!
Surely this is a teaser for the prototype Savage Ray Gun....please Adam🤠
I'd have been tempted to scuff up the linen with sandpaper or something, give it some textural age to go with the colour. Is that something that can work?
Where did you find the Damier Louis Vuitton vinyl? Could you please post a link. Thanks
Now put a couple small holes in the side with char marks around the inside, like you had a couple of missfires over the years. Will really add to the story telling!
please give us a vault tour. :)
So I guess Adam is no longer going to build custom cases for his future guns and blasters, is he?
I love those builds... maybe he'll build a bigger armory case someday when this one is too small for his collection
I love those builds too. Surely he'll still want good ways to transport individual pieces, right?
He certainly will. This case is just for the pieces he's most proud of that he repeatedly shows people, and those smaller boxes are still useful for traveling with one or two of the guns.
@@MrTheMighty I can't imagine him getting rid of the case he made for the Samaritan. It's too beautiful not to keep.
@@rillegas08_vods Agreed!
3:34 damn Adam 😳
Adam Savage: weather the world
Ive got a hankering to make a prop gun and also a cabinet for them. I wonder what Adam did with the case he made for the Good Samaritan?
Would tea work for weathering the cloth?
I don't mean to be the raspberry pit in your upper plate but any thought to restraints? For that day when someone knocks the case over?
Everyone needs a Norm-Minion.... :)
Just leave it outside for a week, instant weathering :D
Hey Adam how would I be able to get a replica of the Four barrel derringer from the film Sabata
When do I get to come and visit?
Editing error but still great build! Love it!
"Gun case"? Meh.
"Blaster vault"? YES PLEASE
Love the case, but what happened to the Mando and Barbarella Rifles?
Maybe a second case in the future ?
You could use an old typewriter to type up labels on yellowed index card stock.
Awesome, the last video I watched was the building of the vault!
I can't help but feel the regular editor is on vacation, lol
Needs a big blaster mark in the back as though one of them has gone off while being put away XD
3:25 -- You heard the man. Next time you're in San Fran...
19:15 -- "If it feels like you don't know what you're doing, then you're doing the weathering right." -- I am always weathering. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
awesome stuff the editing threw me off a little there though lol but yeah very nice case :D
Norm is not the hero we deserve :')
tip if you drop you screws, use a big strong magnet with a piece of cardboard between the magnet en the screws you gonna pick up.
@16:54 That's what shop assistants are for.
💙
Any chance Adam or anyone could share the supplier of the vintage pattern Louis Vuitton vinyle ?
I love this channel, I do, but it's hell on the Misophonia!
So, the question I have is why not make and cover panels outside the box, and then insert them in a way that they can be removed without too much difficulty, should they get damaged?
12:52 13:36 Did Joey make an editing oopsie? I thought I was watching a flashback or something 😜
Pulse rifle looks fantastic but your mount worries me. My pulse rifle weighs about 21 pounds but it's a live gun. What I'm getting to is that all the weight of the prop is sitting on the spas pump slide and it might snap off. The only thing holding it on if it is just like the movie prop is the 2 extetion screws going to the 870 and the spas 12 side channels. Those are really weak and id hate for you to open the box and find the spas 12 slide snapped off and damaged, those parts are hard to find sadly. Anyway Love your work keep up the good work!
Dumping fasteners. Every makers worst nightmare. Had it happen to me and I just had to leave my shop for a bit. I wasn't mentally ready to deal with that. "Nope. Not right now."
Every time I see this chest I think of the one in the kings man, that they drink the champagne out of!
How much was it to build looks better than safe.
(20:14) Does Adam have a special spray to give his hair that genuine mad scientist look?
