    Slight correction (sorry to be that guy)
    The old ones were made of Japanese Hokkaido birch, which according Hagi takes around 30-40 years for fully mature. Which is why the kits from the 80’s are just starting to sound really really amazing

    I just got my Yamaha recording new custom kit in surf green....... This is a very very nice drumkit. Punchy clear dynamic sound with lots of buttom. The Yamaha hardware is as usual the higest level. The raised 20" bassdrum is also a great feature.

    Great video guys. I think there might be a phase issue with the 16" floor tom, it sounds very thin in comparison to the other toms imo.
    Keep up the great work I love your videos.

    Interesting there using 30 degree bearing edge. Thats a Gretsch thing, they now do 30 degrees on all drums including the Catalina now. It interesting that the Yamaha does sound a bit different. That a 30 degree edge would give I think. Hard to tell through video. The 14” floor tom had a weird tuning at first but sounded great after the individual hits. And that snare wow. They sound good in general I prefer Gretsch but the kit in my local studio is a Yamaha Stage Custom in dark red, and it sounded amazing. Low, warm, resonant and loud. I would love to own my dream Gretsch kit but would not turn down this kit if offered. I would have bigger sizes 13” tom 16” and 18” floor in classic depths. Great video as always guys :)

    I am sincerely admiring the RECORDING CUSTOM kit. I only wish there were additional color options. I personally like HONEY AMBER. Sort of an ORANGE/ or TANGERINE in color. My next kit would then be a "no-brainer." This Model is by far SUPERIOR above the rest.

    Sounds great in that small room. Where are the overheads and rom mic placed?

    For a drum set video, there sure was a heck of a lot of hi hat, snare grooves and not much else.

    Could you please test Hayman Drums new version of their classic "Vibrasonic" series? I own an original kit and am very curious as to how these new ones sound.

    some of these comments are curious. I have a Sonor Prolite kit, and a Yamaha RC Japan kit. I have not heard a Yamaha kit that I have not liked. I seriously question what some of these so called drummers are not hearing.. Some of you people are just unreal. These new RC's sound killer! I don't care where they are made. Get off the stuff you are smoking!

      Which tone do you prefer between your Prolite and RC?

  • @Twotontessie

    The new bass drum really sounds different. The first floor tom sounds a bit off. The floor tom on my old RC is tricky with Ambassadors. the growl can be hard to tune out. I love how the Brits call them "9000s." Like Australians calling White Sharks "Pointers." :) Great video overall. Thanks.

    The tuning they had on this kit made it sound like garbage

      Yeah his first sound check was bad, every drum was dead. I ignore that though, just circumstance. Later, they sounded good, especially that snare!

    I really love the sound of the Recording Custom. It's kind of interesting though, as they sound amazing... but mostly look like they would cost... 500 £. :P

      Wutipong Wongsakuldej I had an Almighty Birch. Unbelievable sound. Sold it because it wasn’t what I needed at the time. They’re ridiculously well built, easy to tune, and a joy to play.

    The 12" tom is really dead. It doesn't fit in with the rest of the toms.

    • @drummaman1
      @drummaman1 6 років тому

      Pretty much. Any video that shows him playing other brands is most likely backline. He's been playing Pearl for 30 years, at least.

    It’s def not the kit it’s the tuning. He doesn’t know how to tune drums I guess cause the floor toms are way off

    What does he mean, "the holes are drilled at the nodal points,"? Is that just guitar center word salad?

    • @drummaman1
      @drummaman1 6 років тому

      not word salad. There is a spot on the drum shell where you can attach hardware and the mass of that hardware will not negatively affect the shell sound. Most manufacturers attach their hardware at this nodal point.
