Karate Kid took place during Johnny's senior year, so by the time KK2 and KK3 came along, he was out of high school and ineligible for the All Valley Under 18 tournament. He was also done with Cobra Kai and Kreese.
Daniel was 15 and 16 in Karate Kid 1, therefore he was 17 by the end of Karate Kid 3, dumbasses. That is why Miyagi gives him a car in apart one. It is on his sixteenth birthday and part 3 ends exactly one year after part one.

I wouldn't be surprised if Johnny distanced himself from karate and the Valley as much as he could after Kreese choked him. Karate was a big part of his life and his mentor abandoning him must've been a big blow.
Your comment makes lot's of sense. But there are still some things that bother me. Johnny Lawrence not knowing Terry Silver: even if Silver's first appearance on the series takes place on Karate Kid III, where Johnny's whereabouts are unknow, he was the one the that founded Cobra Kai, and when you first see him on the movie, he is training karate with a Cobra Kai shirt. Are we really lead to believe that Silver was never present during Kreese's Cobra Kai lessons? Even if Silver bought Cobra Kai for Kreese, he is still interested in Karate and would make sense for Kreese to introduce him to his students. Johnny Lawrence not knowing Mike Barnes: even if Johnny, for many reasons, was not aware of the tournament in the third movie, the name Mike Barnes should ring a bell on him, since the guy is the bad boy of karate, won many tournaments across the United States.
That sounds reasonable. I gotta admit as much as I totally love this show, one thing that has always bothered me was the ending of KK1 where Johnny said “You’re all right, La Russo.” It always sounded to me like he finally forgave him, so as much as I love cobra Kai, it still bugs me why Johnny seems to still hate Daniel when cobra Kai starts. I just suspend my disbelief to enjoy the show. I always hoped maybe something had happened between them after KK2 that we haven’t seen yet, but the events of KK3 seem to make that impossible.
@@deceptiondispeller4 I think the reason why johhny hates him is because his life was going alright before daniel came He had a girlfriend ,a father figure considering his step father bullies him and he had friends After daniel came in it all went downhill for him Losing ali forever Then Kreese who johhny looked up to for years ( a so called father figure ) nearly killed him It took a massive effect on johhny dor the next 30 years
It was mentioned in season 2 when Johnny met up with his old friends that Kreese messed up all their lives. Dutch end up in prison, and Johnny didn't care about anything and just partied and drank beer. Some of them seem to clean up their lives but we don't know how long it took.
I think Johnny and the other guys just gave up karate after the incident in the car park with Kreese. In my opinion, I think he just continued on with college and just partyed with his buddies.
I can’t believe no one realized this. Johnny was a senior and Daniel was a junior in KK1. Johnny graduated after he lost to Daniel so he couldn’t compete in the tournament anymore even if he wanted to. Johnny says that right before he beats up Daniel for the first time that “tomorrow he’s a senior.”
I could be wrong, but I think that Daniel was also a senior in high school while Johnny was. In part 2 it says six months later after the tournament footage and Daniel had just returned from prom night. He was supposed to go to college but he ended up using the money for a plane ticket to Okinawa instead. He ended up getting all his money back when he broke the six pieces of ice on the bet Chozen and Sato made against Mr. Miyagi. In part three after Daniel and Mr. Miyagi return to America after their Okinawa trip Daniel was supposed to start college with the money he got from the bet, but used it to open up a bonsai tree store instead since Mr. Miyagi lost his job as the maintenance guy for the appointment complex that he worked for. I could be wrong, but it really looked like Daniel was finished with highschool six months after the tournament was over which was held in December.
Johnny definitely had graduated and turned 18, making him ineligible for the under 18 tournament. He had already won the tournament the previous two years, winning the second time without having one hit recorded on him. I would imagine that Johnny was sent off to college by his parents. That is precisely where a rich kid would be. We can guess that he didn't finish, but during KK III he would have still been in college, drinking, dating frat girls, etc. and probably didn't care much about the All Valley tournament. The problem is Daniel: How would he still have been under 18? He just couldn't be. So, was the special set up (no fights prior to the finals) something arranged by Silver? Could it have been because Daniel would have been ineligible otherwise.
@@johnkatsoudas4767 Yes, it's clear in KK III that Daniel is already 18 and college age. He should have been ineligible for the tournament. Which means that the special set up - where he fights the final - could have been some arrangement made for him given that he would not be allowed to fight under 18 year olds.....
What, Daniel competed and he wasn't in high school, he was supposed to go to college remember? When he invested his college tuition in a trip to Okinawa and then in the bonzai business. And Barnes didn't look like he was in highschool.
@@johnkatsoudas4767 I think as well Miguel asked why he only had trophies from the Jr competitions too. So something must have happened to him for him not to compete in the normal tournaments. Maybe Sid sent him abroad.
Mike Barnes' effectiveness was his ability to use intimidation... Daniel was petrified of him (although it's absurd that he would be after a death match with Chozen), his tactics wouldn't have worked with Johnny. Johnny is fearless, and wouldn't be intimidated by Barnes.
That’s what aI have always said. After winning a fight with Chozen who was trained by the same person who was trained by Miyagi’s father, how could he have been manhandled so easily by that kid?
I have always wondered why after the events in Okinawa, Daniel still felt like he had to prove anything to anyone. He won a fight for his life and still had control enough not to Kill Chozen, and frankly Chozen would have taken Mike Barnes apart.
@@hobbithumping6993 The way I see it, is that Chozen and Johnny both stood for something, whereas Mike was a bully in the purest sense of the word... Don't get me wrong, Chozen and Johnny were absolutely bullies, but that wasn't their defining characteristic. They had some sort of twisted sense of right and wrong, and a sense of honor. Although they were both horribly misguided by Sato and Kreese, you could argue that they were at their core, well intentioned. Mike, had none of that... He was a bully at heart. He stood for nothing, his terror and rage were for their own sake. He had a deep need to dominate and terrorize a weaker individual. Perhaps to cover up an insecurity or perhaps he just loved it... Either way, he was a bully through and through. His own control and violence fueled him, there was the slight motivation of financial gain, but that was just icing on the cake for him. Johnny was molded into what he was by Kreese, Chozen was taught hate and revenge by his uncle from a very early age. Barnes was a psychopath before he ever stepped foot in the Cobra Kai Dojo or before he ever met Terry Silver. Chozen and Johnny were like Ra's al Ghul and Bane. Barnes was more like the Joker... ( Heath Ledger version) Who just wanted violence snd disorder for his own sick enjoyment.
@@palabrajot505 i can also see this but claiming kreese had majority to do with how johnny wound up is pure folly johnny wound up the way he is because of sal, his absent father and the fact thatkreese had betrayed him ultimately his sense of honor wasnt warped it was more or less seeking that fatherly like approval from kreese
I think what people also need to remember about Mike Barnes, he was basically bought under the wing & banner of Cobra Kai, which means he came from another Martial Arts School, which wasn't Cobra Kai, as the article made him out to be the next Bad Boy in a Karate Magazine. So it would be nice also to get some backstory as to what Dojo & style of Karate Mike Barnes was under before Kreese/Silver. Yes it would be nice to see Cobra Kai even cover this element bought up in the video
I think you are forgetting the words of Johnny's STEP FATHER in season 1. The step father made it clear there was a STRING of failed things, that the step father REPEATEDLY paid for. Sounds like Johnny "lost" himself, and went on a search for "himself". BUT< without the father figure he NEEDED, and after having been given the FATHER WOUND by Kreese, it was a fruitless and expensive search.
I’ve thought about this myself since the start of CK season 1. There’s no way if he stayed in town he was oblivious to everything that happened. My theory is that he left town after Kreese chocked him at the beginning of KK2. I also think it’ll come up in conversation because I think Daniel will ask him.
good points. We can assume that they already discussed it, but the writers decided not to bore us with the details. Maybe it will come up again. Maybe Johnny was upstate somewhere? Maybe he started at a community college? Maybe he joined the military for a short while?
Possible Season 4 dialogue: Johnny: who the hell was that guy? Daniel: he's basically you but tougher. His name is mike barnes Johnny: he can't be that tough Daniel: johnny, he literally almost killed me Johnny: i could've killed you too in '84 Daniel: yeah right
The Karate Kid / Cobra Kaiuniverse is an unexpected love for me. I saw Karate Kid before but I was not that hooked. Then after Cobra Kai came out I didn’t watch it until it came to Netflix. I was hesitant to watch it but when I did, damnI was so into it. I rewatched the Karate Kid Trilogy so I can feel the history when watching Cobra Kai season 3 and 4. I’m planning to rewatch the Next Karate Kid next. This franchise is on my top 5 of my fandom list.
I've mentioned this before, but I've thought it was a little weird that Johnny didn't know who Terry Silver was. Given how close he was to Kreese, it seems that Kreese would have mentioned Terry Silver to Johnny at some point.
You have to think Kreese only cares about Kreese amd what benefits him so him bringing up TS to Johnny was a moot point. What would he benefit from telling him that. This is the only guess I have.
In the karate kid 3 terry was talking to kreese and kreese asked him what terry was gonna do about mr miyagi and terry said “dont worry him i heard from the kid Johnny “

Since Johnny Lawrence was and is my favorite character from The Karate Kid franchise, since The Karate Kid 2 I’ve always wondered what happened to Johnny and what to Ali. Did they ever cross paths again? Since watching the video with the band that played the song Sweep The Leg Johnny, that was as close as I ever thought about seeing my favorite character from the KK franchise reprise the role. Never would’ve thought what my mind had always hoped for was 10 years after that video that we’d get Cobra Kai, Johnny Lawrence story arc. But you hit something I’ve always thought about since 1986 during The Karate Kid 2 when I was 9 years old. Where was Johnny? Great video! I really wanted to see more of Ali and Johnny. Their chemistry was too awesome. Still hoping 🤞
Silver is still such a refreshing 80’s bad guy! Also Kreese is slowly turning to the light side. As he helped Tori with her problem and let her play her finale her way. Tori is kind of his anchor to being somewhat humane
I read somewhere that he joined the air force, was on active duty for a few years and then got kicked out for bad behavior, then tried going to college in Colorado, but never graduated, bounced back to where he grew up, and then had odd jobs here and there in construction. Fast forward to 2018 (Cobra Kai season 1).
I think things might get explained once Mike Barnes shows up in the show. That's when we find out that Johnny has been working for Mike all this time. But I do believe Johnny was finished high school the time at the end of the first movie and wanted some time alone during the second and third movies came along.

What i find interesting is what the next step is after Cobra Kai. "Cobra Kai Never DIES!" Except for when you turn 18 and aren't supposed to care about it unless you decide to teach it. My theory on Lawrence was he partied after graduation. Probably was able to get into some college, partied hard and got kicked out. Then drifted through life doing odd jobs because he didn't want to go to his stepdad for help.
Yeah, and they maybe could have had him been be a mentor of sorts to Daniel, kind of like how Apollo Creed was to Rocky in the third film of that series. But doing that would have changed everything for the Cobra Kai series though. Even if he and Daniel went out on good terms after their fight, they were still hardly best buds, who ended up going their separate ways until they met again, and once again became bitter rivals down the road for better or worse too.
They should definitely cover this time period in another comic! It could start off right after Johnny gets choked out by Kreese and Miyagi saves him, where he and the gang decide right then and there to quit and then take the story from there. I would also love it if they made a Chozen comic that goes into detail about how he becomes the New-Age Miyagi that we see him as in S3!
I heard the original treatment for Karate Kid 3 was that Johnny picked himself up after the tournament. He went to college to become a doctor. And for KK3, Miyagi falls ill and needs surgery. They go to the hospital and surprise, surprise the doctor that’ll work on him is Johnny! That would have been a great character arc.
It was both their Senior year, Larusso had just graduated in KK2, and they were both out of high school in KK3 when Larusso and Miyagi returned that fall from the Summer events of KK2. Remember, Larusso used his college funds to open the Bonsai shop instead of going to classes? And there's no way Mike Barnes was under 18. It must have been some over-18, or under 21, tier of the All Valley tournament.
@@davetheimpaler204 Well no, since they clearly stated it was an under 18 tournament during the movie. Yet I thought Daniel was maybe a sophomore, or possibly a junior in the first film. But he apparently (along with Johnny) graduated, and was going off to college at a young age of 17 just a year later in 1985 though.
I think Johnny might have given college a shot and dropped out after a year. He admitted to Ali that he hit the party scene in his 20s. He also discussed how he associated with various women too
I agree with you because even johnny never knew who silver was until season 4 and only met barnes in season 5. Silver wasn't officially a cobra kai sensei he was just the financial backer of the dojo and Co founder. I think we'll see in season 6 the wrest of backstory kreese taking his flight back to the states and silver continuing to train for 5 year's with master kim intensively. And that would explain why he became a more superior fighter than kreese
Personality wise Johnny seems more like a Marine, but I can also see Navy for the handyman skills only because of a friend who reminds me of Johnny that was a mechanic in the Navy.
@marty mcfly perhaps wishful thinking on my part, lol If he was in our class he would be more squared away! For example: ua-cam.com/video/QZtBdWcM2Qo/v-deo.html
They should make a prequel, or maybe even an episode of Cobra Kai where they focus on Johnny after the fight, and what he was doing in both Karate Kid 2 & 3.
Johnny said those were waisted years. Cobra Set up things the way they are now, so there arent any back stories. If there should be a back story, it should be on Miyagi.
Johnny was probably several months older than Daniel and 18 years old by that time. He couldn't compete anyway. I'm thinking he quit Karate altogether and enrolled at Occidental community College and eventually flunked out. He became poor after his mom died and Sid cut him off
@Robert Koch! agreed that was a very dumb rule from the beginning as probably half of High school seniors turn 18 either before or during the academic year. Seniors are still essentially "kids." I wonder if that rule existed in real life
He took money from Sid, went away to college, but spent his time travelling and partying rather than completing his education. Comes back to the Valley sometime later and continues his parting ways. Maybe a bit boring, but that is how I envisioned him following karate kid. I'm sure the writers will have something up their sleeve. I still wouldn't be fully surprised that the Mike he worked for is actually Barnes. Though it is more likely Barnes is Miguel's father.
That's my guess as well. Maybe he was attending college out of state during the events of KK3, but dropped out after year because of too much partying!
He went to a new high school and started picking on a dude that was hanging out with a chick dressed as the picked on dude's friend. They documented this in Just One of the Guys, lol.
I would love to hear what Mr. Kamen had to say about this. Was it deliberate that Johnny wasn't even given a passing mention in III? Was the writer just leaving out details that weren't essential to the plot/narrative? Anyway, we do know that Johnny quit karate, which doubtless happened immediately following the events of December 19th. He could have stayed in the area and been so demoralized that he just moved on and didn't pay any attention whatsoever to what was happening with Kreese or Daniel or Barnes or what transpired at the next tournament. It seems entirely plausible that he could have been around and just completely detached from it all. I don't know. Maybe not. I'd love to know what happened at school for the next several months after Daniel's victory.
Right, if you weren't involved in the tourney n not training in the dojo you probably wouldn't know anything going on with the tourney or dojo, so Johnny more then likely was just the way we see him in the beginning of cobra kai
in season 2 Johnny and Tommy talk about being served dish water and Dutch taking the darts board so maybe they did go on a trip and that’s where those stories came from
Answer’s pretty simple: he moved to Phoenix AZ, went to school there, got into bodybuilding, changed his name to Greg Tolan, dated a girl named Deborah, and basically bullied everyone else.
Of course he got someone pregnant 18 years later. If he got a girl pregnant right after the 1st movie, me and Robby would be pretty close to the same age since I was born the year when the first movie came out.
This whole series has my mind 🤯. I love it how it has some serious moments, fighting, real world teenager drama and funny moments. It’s a great series all around. Especially if you grew up in the 80’s as this was childhood defining movie. Now it’s back with the same original gang and then some. Genius!!!
Finally! It's been so long since I wanted a Cobra Kai channel to talk about this? I am so curious to know and wonder if it will ever be revealed in Cobra Kai S4, or later.
My guess would be that Sid sent Johnny off to college. Johnny didn’t fit in. He partied instead, and when he flunked out, Sid threw him out of the house and cut him off. His mom would have died close to Robby’s birth, so maybe 2000/2001. During those 14-15 years, maybe Johnny joined the military, wanting to perhaps be like Lou Gossett in Iron Eagle and flunked out of that, too. He might have been a hard case during basic training. Perhaps his drill instructor acted like Kreese. Sid finds out when Johnny comes to visit his mom and laughs at him. Calls him a loser. A humiliated Johnny turns to drugs and partying, the way that Jenny did in Forest Gump. He would have been a brawler tough, which earned him a jail record. I think the big three need to fill this gap in on the matter of Johnny’s life between KK1 and Cobra Kai. Especially given how he is stuck in the 80s mentally and psychologically. It’s funny, to be sure, but he wasn’t stuck in a bunker with Brendan Fraser, or was he? ;)

I always felt the boyz from Cobra Kai left immediately thereafter when Kreese was violent to Johnny. I kind of came away with that during KK3 with Kreese's flashbacks. Plus, he was a senior during KK so he was probably aged out of the tournament and just didnt care. I think he simply moved on with his life.
Well even if Johnny heard about the tournament he was off the team, remember? Kreese told him he was off the team for losing. Plus, i think by the time the next tournament occurred i believe he wouldnt have been able to participate anyway. I think he was a year older than Daniel so he would have been 18 which would have been too old for him to fight in the tournament.
No way Daniel was celebrating his 18th bday in the first film. 1) He wouldn't have been able to compete in the All Valley in KK1, let alone in KK2 2) He had just gotten his driver license the day before the tournament, while Johnny had already been driving when Daniel and Ali had their first date at Golf and Stuff. Johnny was definitely older than Daniel (albeit by how much is a different question).
I would be curious about Dutch. Remember, he turned his back on Johnny as Kreese was choking him out. I think of all the Cobras, Dutch hated Larusso most. 🍀🍀
Yeah, and while he also didn't stay with Kreese, it was interesting that he didn't help Johnny when Kreese had him in the chokehold. That must have been kind of awkward afterwards between the Cobras too! (L.O.L.!)
I think Johnny and his friends went on a motorcycle road trip for a year and then went their separate ways. I think Johnny went on to college and then lost his job or lost interest in his career which would explain him living in a slum. Doesn't mean he is a complete loser, just means he lost his interest and wanted something else out of life.
After the events of KK1 and when Kreese chokes him at the start of KK2 it's safe to say Johnny didn't want anything to do with Cobra Kai or Karate in general and took no interest in the next All Valley tournament. He would have continued being friends with the other CK's but eventually when school ended they would have gone their separate ways and Johnny would have looked for other interests to pursue in life.
He didn't went to College you prolly miss the part when johnny told Ali Johnny What he was up too all these year and Time and Johnny mentioned Party till mid 20s
Johnny is a year older than Danny. He would have been 18 going on 19 in KK3. He was 17 going on 18 in KK1. Daniel was 16 (likely a super late birthday) in KK1, making him 17 in KK2. Still under 18. Johnny would not be eligible for the tournament in KK3. Johnny lost his freshman year to Vidal. He won his sophomore year. He won his junior year. His senior year was against Daniel.
Reason he wasn’t in the third installment of The Karate Kid is that he’d already headed off to college and took up diving @ Grand Lakes University. Trying to perfect the Triple Lindy as Thornton Melon had.
For Johnny, they should've tried a different direction. Where Mike Barnes torments both Daniel and Johnny into re-entering the tournament, to win Daniel's 1st place tournament title and to win Johnny's 1st place pupil spot in the Cobra Kai dojo. He beats Johnny, but lost to Daniel.
I like the first level of style, second level of teaching, and third level of helping each student tackle their weaknesses. Thus making a stronger future generation.
Hopefully, if Barnes is in that season, which we still don't know will be the case or not. But at least we do know that Silver is definitely coming back. The first interaction they have with each-other should be very interesting to say the least too!
@@theblobmaster332 Well you never quite know, as he COULD end up being a changed person, and have reformed like Chozen did. Though I agree it would be better seeing him still be on the bad side once more, along with finding out what (if anything) Silver & Kreese did to him after he lost the 1985 All Valley Tournament, which also got Cobra Kai banned from it in the first place. That being even if I'm not totally sure what he'll else be able to bring to the picture with Silver already coming back, and may be best to save him for Season 5, what with the show beginning to run out of legacy characters who we all want to eventually see return too. But I'm sure the writers can find a good storyline, and room for him to fit into the show one way or another, shall he definitely return as widely expected though.
I've always wondered what discipline Barnes was supposed to have followed. It's not mentioned back in KK3 to my knowledge. He really just had a "charge in and beat you down" type of fight with Daniel, while in a Cobra Kai gi. It would be interesting to have his style, which is presumably different than CK or Miyagido, somehow become a factor in the storyline. Maybe Silver brings him back as a way to beat Johnny & Daniel simultaneously, or maybe Mike comes back to lend a few techniques because Silver & Kreese screwed him back in the day. Anyway it goes, would like to see the return of "Karate's Bad Boy"...but can do w/o the Jessica Andrews girl from the same era.
He done with karate and cobra Kai. Graduated and got a real job.” It honestly would be better that season 6 if it ever comes out would elaborate on that.
Didn't Johnny say he lost to Vidal his 1st All Valley Tournament? Then the following year he beat him in the finals to become champion....he also beat Vidal in KK1. So that would have been 3 All Valleys in row..not sure he would be eligible age wise to be in 4 All Valleys in a row. He was probably too old? Isn't under 18 only?
No, not necessarily. Johnny’s lack of knowledge about Terry Silver can be attributed to Silver being too busy running Dynatox to have made guest teaching appearances at the dojo until after the 1984 tournament. Plus, Silver was trained in highly advanced techniques that Kreese didn’t think any of his students were ready for.
You answered the question in the thumbnail. He joined the diving team and moved onto a feud with Jason Melon. I got this video on my UA-cam homepage and it stopped me in my tracks. I'm still laughing at that thumbnail.
Dang talk about late posting lol Edit: I feel like that he would just be partying like usual, but before he would start doing it is the part I would want to see. Was he mentally unstable/angry? Was he like that so much which was why he was a "drug addict"? Idk lol, I just really want a explanation

@@deceptiondispeller4 I think the reason why johhny hates him is because his life was going alright before daniel came
He had a girlfriend ,a father figure considering his step father bullies him and he had friends
After daniel came in it all went downhill for him

Then Kreese who johhny looked up to for years ( a so called father figure ) nearly killed him
It took a massive effect on johhny dor the next 30 years

It was mentioned in season 2 when Johnny met up with his old friends that Kreese messed up all their lives. Dutch end up in prison, and Johnny didn't care about anything and just partied and drank beer. Some of them seem to clean up their lives but we don't know how long it took.

@@Bijo69 I think that was filmed for Cobra Kai recently.
I think Johnny and the other guys just gave up karate after the incident in the car park with Kreese. In my opinion, I think he just continued on with college and just partyed with his buddies.
He did say at the beginning of the movie he was gonna try and make it work and he also said to ali in season 3 that he was partying
He may not have gone to College.
@Mike H well he either did or didn’t.
@Mike H ok fair enough, hopefully we find out one way or the other.
@Mike H it could be.
He won a fight for his life and still had control enough not to Kill Chozen, and frankly Chozen would have taken Mike Barnes apart.
i feel like mike barnes was on performance enhancers also barnes was a very aggro character where as chozen was a more collected villain
@@hobbithumping6993
The way I see it, is that Chozen and Johnny both stood for something, whereas Mike was a bully in the purest sense of the word...
@@palabrajot505 i can also see this but claiming kreese had majority to do with how johnny wound up
is pure folly johnny wound up the way he is because of sal, his absent father and the fact thatkreese had betrayed him ultimately
his sense of honor wasnt warped it was more or less seeking that fatherly like approval from kreese
I think what people also need to remember about Mike Barnes, he was basically bought under the wing & banner of Cobra Kai, which means he came from another Martial Arts School, which wasn't Cobra Kai,
as the article made him out to be the next Bad Boy in a Karate Magazine.
So it would be nice also to get some backstory as to what Dojo & style of Karate Mike Barnes was under before Kreese/Silver.
Yes it would be nice to see Cobra Kai even cover this element bought up in the video
He was allen quartermaine from GH
Do you know the name of the song that is playing in this video?
Remember, the real bully is Daniel’s son, Anthony!
good points. We can assume that they already discussed it, but the writers decided not to bore us with the details. Maybe it will come up again. Maybe Johnny was upstate somewhere? Maybe he started at a community college? Maybe he joined the military for a short while?
Johnny was tormenting "Jason Mellon" at college. 😆🤣😂
Or he was bullying “just one of the guys” LOL!
2021 Johnny revealing leaving the valley because of something related to KK3 events seems like great storytelling streamlining IMHO.
Possible Season 4 dialogue:
Johnny: who the hell was that guy?
Daniel: he's basically you but tougher. His name is mike barnes
Johnny: he can't be that tough
Daniel: johnny, he literally almost killed me
Johnny: i could've killed you too in '84
Daniel: yeah right

I've mentioned this before, but I've thought it was a little weird that Johnny didn't know who Terry Silver was. Given how close he was to Kreese, it seems that Kreese would have mentioned Terry Silver to Johnny at some point.
You have to think Kreese only cares about Kreese amd what benefits him so him bringing up TS to Johnny was a moot point. What would he benefit from telling him that. This is the only guess I have.

@Mitchell Cohen you don't happen to know the name of the guitar song that is playing?
I think things might get explained once Mike Barnes shows up in the show. That's when we find out that Johnny has been working for Mike all this time. But I do believe Johnny was finished high school the time at the end of the first movie and wanted some time alone during the second and third movies came along.
If they do a flashback and give Johnny the de-aging treatment, that would be awesome!

Johnny himself said he partied away his teens and twenty's.
They really should have had Johnny in the 3rd Film
...at the very least, in the beginning, as in KK2.
He is, obviously, a main character!!!
@Robert Koch! That would have made a great movie! 👍
Why? Wouldn't suit the narrative.
KK 2 ended any notion Lawrence would go back to CK!
i think they should make a mini series like 4-6 episodes of johnny after karate kid 1 tournement
That was an idea post KK3 that Pat Morita had and shared with Zabka.

It was both their Senior year, Larusso had just graduated in KK2, and they were both out of high school in KK3 when Larusso and Miyagi returned that fall from the Summer events of KK2.
Remember, Larusso used his college funds to open the Bonsai shop instead of going to classes?

It’s funny, to be sure, but he wasn’t stuck in a bunker with Brendan Fraser, or was he? ;)

@Robert Koch! No Daniel celebrates his 18th birthday in the first film and at the beach Johnny says that he will be 18 in 2 weeks.
@@juanramos9260 Yeah, he partied during high school as well. Just because you party a lot doesn't mean you don't go to school at all.
The answer is in season 3:
"Nothing much."
Reason he wasn’t in the third installment of The Karate Kid is that he’d already headed off to college and took up diving @ Grand Lakes University. Trying to perfect the Triple Lindy as Thornton Melon had.
William Zabka almost returned as Johnny in Karate Kid 3
But when that didn't work, Mike Barnes was created as a replacement
For Johnny, they should've tried a different direction.
Where Mike Barnes torments both Daniel and Johnny into re-entering the tournament,
to win Daniel's 1st place tournament title and to win Johnny's 1st place pupil spot in the Cobra Kai dojo.
He beats Johnny, but lost to Daniel.
I like the first level of style, second level of teaching, and third level of helping each student tackle their weaknesses. Thus making a stronger future generation.
“What about that time in Reno with the soccer moms at the Hyatt”
Lol
That might be a another possibility of why he didn’t know or hear about what was going on with cobra Kai
At the time of Karate Kid 3 Johnny was attending Grand Lakes University, where he joined the men's diving team.
I'm going to guess he got very depressed and just became a hermit in the house for a few years just drinking till old man kicked him out
He went to live with
His father Robert McCall(the Equalizer)in NYC during KK3.
I can't wait until Barnes meets johnny in season 4👍
Hopefully, if Barnes is in that season, which we still don't know will be the case or not. But at least we do know that Silver is definitely coming back. The first interaction they have with each-other should be very interesting to say the least too!
@@freakyfornash I think they would hate or just dislike each other. Because mike would be with sliver and kreese
The recent season.. Johnny doesnt even know who Silver is. He never seen Silver.. He asked who the hell is that
I've always wondered what discipline Barnes was supposed to have followed.
I wish in season 6, we can get what happened and what Johnny did after the tournament
He didn’t even know Daniel went to the all valley again to verse mike Barnes
Cuz Barnes could have changed his last name into somethiing else. A persons last name is worth more than silver or gold!
No Tommy beat Vidal but lost to Johnny but Johnny said Tommy didn’t make it easy for him.
Yes Johnny would have been over 18.
Broo made there’s a All Valley over 18
But Miguel said what happened to your senior year and Johnny said go back to worl
Johnny specifically in season 1 said he left Cobra Kai because of the way Kreese was being so dirty in his teaching during first Karate Kid movie.
He could have been lying in season 1 when he said he's never heard of Terry Silver?
No, not necessarily. Johnny’s lack of knowledge about Terry Silver can be attributed to Silver being too busy running Dynatox to have made guest teaching appearances at the dojo until after the 1984 tournament. Plus, Silver was trained in highly advanced techniques that Kreese didn’t think any of his students were ready for.
I always assumed that Johnny was over 18 by KK3 so had aged out of the all valley under 18
You mean he's nowhere to be found. You said "he's nowhere to be around." lol
Mans Really A Cobra Kai And Star Wars Fan What A Boss
yeah , until he can helping Miyagi & Daniel against Kreese , Silver , Barnes
You answered the question in the thumbnail. He joined the diving team and moved onto a feud with Jason Melon.
I got this video on my UA-cam homepage and it stopped me in my tracks. I'm still laughing at that thumbnail.
johhny was with bolo young fighting underground crime lords
I think it would be cool if they de-aged William Zabka with CGI and did some type of flashback to explore that topic.
Dang talk about late posting lol
Edit: I feel like that he would just be partying like usual, but before he would start doing it is the part I would want to see. Was he mentally unstable/angry? Was he like that so much which was why he was a "drug addict"? Idk lol, I just really want a explanation
During the events of The Karate Kid Part 3, Johnny Lawrence was in the US Air Force, but he was discharged because of misconduct. He moved to Colorado and took on odd jobs, eventually getting certified as a construction worker, Johnny move back to Encino Hills and took a job as a contractor doing home improvement jobs. As much as I have loved to entertain the theories like the rest of you over the years that Johnny in Disguise at the all Valley watching Mike and Daniel fight. And that he saw Terry and Daniel come out of Cobra Kai! Unfortunately Johnny had enlisted in the US Air Force!
I was wondering why Johnny Lawrence didn’t appear in karate kid 3
Johnny is older than Daniel, he was a senior and since graduated HS and likely was too old to compete in the next year's tournament. It would have made little sense to include him in the story of part 3 the way it was written.
@@HQLBvideo johnny still should have appeared in kk3
@@mrj4082 I myself would have loved to see that. Johnny was my favorite character and still is. 💯
Even Johnny fighting mike Barnes I would want to see the fight on that
@@markiscamacho9237 maybe we will! I'm excited for the coming season.
He went into the body bag business with Tommy.
