- Wisconsin’s elk herd is a success story. This podcast is a success story because of that success story. Father/daughter duo, Izzy and Brian Wink, tell the tale of the great bull 17-year-old Izzy shot and the backstory behind it. Rifle setup and optic selection, to scouting, calling, picking the spot, setting up for the shot using her precision-rifle-shooting experience, and executing in the heat of the moment - Izzy did it all.

Izzy's dad out there setting the bar so high.......Great job Dad, Izzy and everyone involved. Love this video!
Congratulations Izzy ! I too am a WI native & hunted since I was 7. Thanks for being a great ambassador for the hunting/conservation community ! Good luck in all your future endeavors. 💕
I think this is my favorite VN podcast ever. What a great story. And what a special young woman and a very special father making a lifetime memory for his daughter and family. How many other men would do that. I was riveted all the way through.
Great job Izzy. Not enough can be said about your work and your intelligence. Again congratulations. And thank you to Ryan and Mark for bringing this video to us.
I did not think I would like this episode, but ended up fascinated by it.
Now there's a Dad bringing 'em up right. And what a very bright young lady for Dad to be super proud of. Now if I could only be so lucky and pull one of Pennsylvania's rare tags.
Congrats to the young lady. Awesome story….also awesome caliber that is so underrated. My cheap old budget remington is in 7mm08 and never disappoints.
Amazing story…..a once in a lifetime experience! Congratulations! You put in the time, effort and patience and what a great reward for your entire family! Pretty memorable Sweet 16! Congrats Izzy!
That’s a special experience
Very cool story. I’m trying to do the same things with my kids. I hope we get lucky someday with a WI Elk tag!
Congrats on a great bull!! Awesome story. Thank you for sharing.
Great Podcast Guys 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
So impressed by the family in how they are a family.
10 minute talks= 50 minutes of gold
I learned quickly that 10-minute talks are an extremely loose name, especially recently
Great bull! Even better story! Congrats!
My wife and I have seen several elk just a little north of Hatfield Wisconsin and Black River Falls. Both are part of Jackson County heard.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is an awesome girl Dad!
Congrats! What a fantastic story!
Thank you so much for sharing, Great job!
The main thing, with this and in everyday life, the amount of research you can o prior to using the information the better. Knowledge is your friend. As long as you actually use it.
Well done Izzy!
Great story. I think of the 7mm-08 as a product-improved 308. Bullets have improved enough since the 1950's for it to do virtually everything that the 308 could do back then. The slightly smaller diameter bullet gives higher BC for the same recoil or the same BC for lower recoil, and the chamber has tighter tolerances to help accuracy.
Shoooot, I read about this on the forum he posted it on. Great to have them on to tell it. Excellent story.
Edit: It's on HuntTalk
Good video. I don't hunt out west so I am curious as to why there is a limit on 5 parts you can split an elk up to when hauling it out?
I’m from Colorado. What’s up with the 5 piece rule? The only rule here is that there is a minimum amount of the animal you have to take to ensure you’re not just trophy hunting.
Virginia is $15 application fee. 25k apply and only 6 tags
This is a lottery with a 1 in 5000-15000 chance in winning. From a lottery jackpot stand point....those are really good odds compared to like Powerball.
7mm08 hits like a 30 and shoots like a 6.5
