  • Mahia Peninsula is a Surfing Mecca
Situated on the sunny East Coast of the North Island, New Zealand, and includes some of the best waves and surf locations in the country.
Mahia has an excellent reputation for delivering reliable, consistent and high-quality surf in almost any weather condition.
The Mahia Peninsula's shape and geographical features mean that there is great diversity in the types of breaks and swell direction - with beach, point and reef breaks picking up swells from the north, east and south.

I spent a few summers with my cousins at Mahia in the mid to late 80's, my Aunt and Uncle had an old beach-front batch, and still do. Best times.

Wow great to see my old surf places of the 70's, Blacks, Rolling Stones Tracks,. Annihilation, so many memories of Mahia of those days, sad to see Blue Bay motor camp has lost all those beauriful pines.

Hope you headed south man, Mangamaunu on the main road just north of Kaikoura, such a good right point there that peels forever into the bay, so good big or small...

Love how they have to sell their surf soul just to get a few likes & video watches. And sure kiwi bros also appreciate you selling their spots.
