This is a story that I came up with - a HORRIBLE day in the life as a UX designer working from home. I've seen so many productive day in the life videos so far, and I'd like to show a day that's nothing near perfect or productive. As a reminder, it's ok to feel stressed out and not productive. Many things are out of our control, not your fault. I'm a firm believer that bad days are as meaningful as good days :) So let's also celebrate and laugh at the bad days. That being said, I had so much fun producing and making this video. I hope that it makes you laugh 😂 2022 is here. Happy new year! 🎊
Oh my god I'm glad you resonate with me. I'm afraid that it might not resonate with other designers because my experience is so skewed to working on early day products. I really want to give more credits to UX designers who sacrificed so much time on making the best experience even though most of the hard work is not delivered because of reasons we can't control. I wish you all the best to your career 🙌 🙌
Finally something which actually feels real. I hate seeing these other videos which show people wake up at 6 AM. My cousins work from home and book meetings with themselves and stay asleep till 1PM lol.
I just quit my job in healthcare where it felt like torture to go in to work every day. I'm considering switching to UX design and this gave me insight that a horrible day for you looks like an amazing day to me! 😂 If this is the worst it gets then sign me up hahaha
I’m so proud of you Jenny! I’m glad that you decided to switch your career and you’re already making the move. To me as well, I couldn’t imagine me working a day in some fields, and struggling as a designer is still in a way enjoyable because I get to work with great products ❤️
Well, it's not lol. Clients changing their mind twice a day and unqualified developpers are the daily job and not the worst part of it all. To me, as a UX/UI in a web agency, the worst is not having the choice to work for clients that don't fit my values. For example last year I had to design an entire shop that was selling food supplements with huge promises ("this plants mix made a man live 250+ years" or the internationaly known "wanna expand your penis ?") directly aiming at elderly people. The client required I used my "magic" (understand dark patterns) to systematically upsell 4 month of automatic renewal treatments everytime. The good part is that they ran into legal issues and the shop never came live, but they still operate grey businesses all around the web. The reality of the job is UX/UI can be great, but it also can be hell depending who you work for.
I love it! This is kinda close to the real ux designers life, the meetings and the designing stuff. Really like the humor too. Would love to see more of your videos 😆😆
This was a very fun take on UX designers in a startup culture, Aliena!! 😂 while I’m not a Ux designer, I’m a Product Manager at a tech company and I can totally relate to all of these last minute changes and OT expectations 😂
