The fist bump at the end is my favorite part.
Still crazy to think that I was actually a part of this
me too!
I will be watching and listening to this about a zillion times. What a BRILLIANT collaboration! Bravo and thank you for this incredible gift, Ambassadors of Harmony!!!
One of my favorite basses stepping forward at the end, and the fist bump, The harmonies, everything about that ending was just perfect..
Congrats boys! A great throwback and just the right amount of choreo. A great return to barbershop roots in terms of the arrangement too. Proud to have the championship back in the CSD!
I think I might just have to start off every day by watching and listening to this amazingly conceived, crafted and executed performance; for pure enjoyment, inspiration and education. Plus that one crazy Busby Berkeley move in the middle - mind blown every time!
As fabulous a performance as this is, their reprise of this uptune on Saturday night was even better!
Go Jonny!! I appreciate Jim's humility mixed in with the pride of such an awesome chorus in letting new talent lead out on the international stage. You guys are the best!
A BIG FIST BUMP to you fellows!!! You are awesome!
That is just beyond amazing. Like, how?! Such a FANTASTIC job!!! I think they won just about as soon as they started!!!
This performance was fabulous in every way. Thank you so much for sharing you brilliant skills and love for barbershop with us.
Nailed It! That sound was amazeballs!
Makes me teary every time I see it !!!! Great job !! 💕😊
They amaze me every single time!
They're like a giant lung. I love it!
Awesome harmony and co-ordination. A joy to watch.
Amazingly spectacular
That was awesome!!!
Wow...this is amazing.
Wow. I just realized they whipped.
Awesome!!!
AMAZING! WELL DONE...
This was incredible.
this puts me in a very happy mood
Anyone else catch that whip at 2:30?
HOLY SNAP!
It is fabulous, and where is their ballad??? It was unbelievable.
MOAR CARPENTERS PLZ
Fantastic!
doesn't outdo 2009 but my gosh that polyphony at the end was just spectacular!
Wow! That was fabulous! If there were any mistakes, I didn't notice them.
Couldn't have been many, they were the Champs this year
Patrick Proctor Well, they always say to keep it on the top side so to not be flat. There is a belief that being flat is due to poor breathe support and/or vocal technique, so most choruses will keep pitching higher on the next phrase to possibly end on a quarter tone higher in fear of being a quarter tone lower by the end of the song.
A true measure of any performer is a live performance and they knocked it out of the park.
A live musical performance isn't measured only in the musical accuracy. I was also referring to stage presence and showmanship value of a live performance. It's a combination that must be brought together in a live show that really demonstrates the measure of a performer's capabilities.
Hallelujah!!!
Did I see some Napoleon Dynamite choreography somewhere about three minutes in?
My dad is in that group 👍
Wow
Did I just see one of the Gas House Gang in this Chorus ?
Both Rich Knight (lead) and Jim Henry (bass) are members of the chorus! Jim in fact is one of the co-directors of the chapter, and directed the ballad that pairs with this uptune.
From St. Louis? Directed by Jim Henry?
And Jonny Moroni
1:47 who edited this?! Were they sleeping?
Professional barbershop harmony - exactly the opposite of how it started - four guys just having fun making music. Leave it to America to professionalize (and monetize) everything in sight. Auditions for singing, for Heaven's sake!!!
Yes, Barbershop has changed quite a bit over the years. But they have not lost their roots! There are still quartets all over the world; this is the chorus contest, and this is considered pretty normal. And just to let you know, this organization is 100% volunteer. They spend all of their time and money to bring barbershop harmony, college scholarships, and music education to thousands of kids every year.
I started off Barbershop singing with this very group. There are auditions but if you can sing even a little bit they'll take you in and hone your skill.
And what would O.C. Cash do?
+Richard Brandlon He'd be proud that what he started has lasted. Barbershop music is now a worldwide phenomenon. Our society has affiliate societies all over the globe....10 countries and growing! It's an amazing art form.....and O. C. Cash remains our hero still today.
I have spoken to people who love barbershop music, but have been told that they;re not "good enough" to compete in a chorus. I am not speaking of "crows," but of ordinary singers who weren't professional enough for the new barbershop philosophy. Cash would vomit.
